Lana Maria Escamilla is a founding member and Partner of Escamilla & Salisbury, PLLC. Lana is a 2007 graduate of Michigan State University College of Law and a 2003 cum laude graduate of Western Michigan University and Lee Honors College.
Lana is admitted to practice law in the Courts of the State of Michigan, the United States Federal District Courts and Bankruptcy Courts for the Eastern and Western District of Michigan. She primarily focuses her practice on creditors’ rights, bankruptcy and insolvency and represents a number of credit unions and banks throughout the United States. She first developed an interest in bankruptcy when she began clerking for a United States Chapter 7 bankruptcy trustee and creditors’ rights attorney while in law school. She continued on as an associate with the firm until 2011 when she became in-house corporate counsel for Capitol Bancorp Ltd which held many bank charters throughout the United States. She was part of the litigation team and the lead bankruptcy attorney while employed as in-house corporate counsel.
Lana went back into private practice in 2014 where she continued to focus her practice on representing financial institutions, business transactions, estate planning and probate law.
When not working, Lana enjoys reading, hiking, practicing yoga and is an avid runner. She has volunteered with Girls on the Run and enjoys spending time with her family.
