Wish I could give them a no star rating! I have a contested hearing coming up in 2 days and have never met my attorney Frankie D Rodriguez. I’ve tryed calling her almost every day for the past two weeks with no returned call(s). I’m definitely set on bringing it to the courts attention and firing her for Unaffective Assistance of counsel... For anyone else wondering what to do, in case you run in to the same type of problem, keep calling them and keep record of every call and message(s) so that in your next hearing you can bring proof and fire that attorney. By law, everyone has a right to be properly represented; and if you can prove that that isn’t the case, then you also have the right to fire that attorney, and ask for another one( as long as you have PROOF, in which case keeping a log of all the attempts you’ve made threw phone log(s), etc but make sure you print a copy of that call log because a judge WILL NOT look at your phone so be sure to be prepared or the judge will deny your request and you’ll be stuck with a lawyer like this).

Alternate Defense Office Introduce

Navigating the complexities of the legal system can be a daunting experience, especially when facing criminal charges or juvenile legal matters. For residents of Fresno, California, having access to dedicated and accessible legal representation is crucial. The Alternate Defense Office serves a vital role within the community, providing legal defense services to individuals who qualify for public defender assistance. This article aims to offer a clear and informative overview of the Alternate Defense Office, shedding light on their mission, location, and the specific areas of law they cover, to help local users understand the support available to them in times of legal need.

The Alternate Defense Office is conveniently situated at 2014 Tulare St #400, Fresno, CA 93721, USA. This location places the office right in the heart of downtown Fresno, a central and easily accessible area for many residents across the city and surrounding regions. Its position within the city’s legal district means it is often just a short walk or drive from important legal institutions, including the Fresno County Superior Court, which is highly beneficial for clients needing to attend court proceedings. For those relying on public transportation, numerous bus routes serve the downtown area, providing convenient access to the office. While direct parking at the building might be limited, there are several public parking structures and street parking options available in the immediate vicinity, making it feasible for clients to visit. The central and well-connected location ensures that individuals in need of legal defense can readily access the services provided by the Alternate Defense Office.

As a public defense agency, the Alternate Defense Office is primarily responsible for providing legal representation to individuals who cannot afford to hire a private attorney. Their services are crucial for upholding the constitutional right to counsel and ensuring fair legal processes for all. While specific case types may vary, their core focus lies in criminal defense, with a particular emphasis on juvenile matters.

  • Criminal Defense: Representing individuals accused of various criminal offenses, ensuring their rights are protected throughout the legal process.
  • Misdemeanor Cases: Providing defense for less severe criminal charges.
  • Felony Cases: Handling more serious criminal charges that carry significant penalties.
  • Juvenile Delinquency Cases: A significant area of focus, representing minors who are accused of committing crimes. This involves navigating the distinct legal framework of the juvenile justice system.
  • Dependency Cases (Potentially): While the provided review specifically mentions the Juvenile Division, public defense offices often also handle dependency cases where children are at risk due to abuse or neglect, and parents or guardians require legal representation.
  • Legal Advice and Consultation: Offering guidance and advice to clients regarding their legal situation, rights, and potential outcomes.
  • Trial Representation: Advocating for clients in court proceedings, including trials, hearings, and motions.
  • Plea Negotiations: Engaging in discussions with prosecutors to achieve favorable resolutions, such as plea bargains, when appropriate.

The Alternate Defense Office, like many public defender agencies, operates with a commitment to providing legal representation to those who might otherwise not have access to it. Several aspects highlight their work, though the provided reviews offer mixed perspectives.

  • Essential Public Service: The office plays a critical role in the justice system by providing legal defense to indigent clients, ensuring that everyone has a right to counsel, regardless of their financial situation.
  • Dedicated Juvenile Division: A notable feature, as highlighted by a client review, is the presence of a dedicated Juvenile Division. Attorneys in this division, such as Anjali B., are described as putting "work, time, and emotion into every juvenile case" and fighting "every case with her whole heart." This suggests a strong commitment to the youth they represent.
  • Focus on Client Rights: The very nature of a public defense office is to safeguard the rights of individuals accused of crimes, working to ensure fair treatment and due process.
  • Experienced Attorneys (within specific divisions): While one review points to communication challenges, another highlights an attorney's success rate in juvenile trials, indicating that within specific divisions, there are dedicated and effective legal professionals. The review mentions Anjali B. "won almost all the trials she did this year, which is so difficult to do as a defense attorney."

As a government-funded public defense agency, the Alternate Defense Office does not typically offer traditional "promotions" or "special offers" in the same way a private law firm might. Their services are provided to eligible individuals based on financial need, as determined by court-appointed criteria. There are no direct fees charged to clients for the legal representation itself, as their operations are supported by public funding. However, clients may still be responsible for court-imposed fees or fines if applicable to their case. Individuals seeking representation should understand that the primary "benefit" is access to legal counsel without the burden of private attorney fees, making justice more accessible. To determine eligibility for their services, individuals typically undergo a financial assessment by the court or the office itself, based on established income guidelines. It is advisable to contact the office directly for information on their intake process and eligibility requirements.

To contact the Alternate Defense Office for inquiries regarding legal representation or eligibility, you can use the following information:

  • Address: 2014 Tulare St #400, Fresno, CA 93721, USA
  • Phone: (559) 264-8872
  • Mobile Phone: +1 559-264-8872

Given the nature of public defense work, it is always recommended to call during standard business hours, typically Monday through Friday. It is important to note that due to high caseloads, immediate responses may not always be possible, as indicated by one client review. Therefore, persistence in communication and keeping records of all attempts to contact are important, as suggested by the same review, especially if you are an existing client with an urgent matter.

For residents of Fresno, California, the Alternate Defense Office serves as a crucial resource, particularly for those facing criminal charges or juvenile legal issues who cannot afford private legal counsel. Its central location in downtown Fresno makes it accessible for many, alleviating some of the logistical burdens associated with legal proceedings. While client experiences can vary, as is often the case with high-volume public service organizations, the office's fundamental role in providing legal defense ensures that constitutional rights are upheld for all members of the community, regardless of their financial circumstances. The reported dedication of attorneys in specialized divisions, such as the Juvenile Division, highlights the commitment of some legal professionals within the office to vigorously defend their clients. For locals in need of court-appointed legal representation, the Alternate Defense Office stands as a vital pillar of the Fresno legal system, ensuring access to justice and defense when it is most needed.

My sister, Anjali B., is a lawyer here specifically in the Juvenile Division. My review may seemed biased because she is my sister but I have seen first-hand the work, time, and emotion she puts into every juvenile case. She fights every case with her whole heart. She cares a lot about the youth in this country. She won almost all the trials she did this year, which is so difficult to do as a defense attorney.
