Welcome to Lawyers Near Me, a platform connecting local users with legal services. Today, we introduce you to the Atlanta Legal Aid Society, situated at 246 Sycamore St, Decatur, GA 30030, USA. The Atlanta Legal Aid Society is a non-profit organization that provides civil legal services to low-income individuals and families in the Atlanta metropolitan area, including Decatur. If you are a local user seeking legal assistance and meet their eligibility criteria, this organization may be able to offer support.
The Atlanta Legal Aid Society can be reached by phone at (404) 377-0701 or via their mobile number, +1 404-377-0701. Their location on Sycamore Street in Decatur suggests they are accessible to residents in the area. As a non-profit, their environment is likely focused on providing necessary services to their clients, potentially with a more community-oriented atmosphere compared to private law firms. However, specific details about the office's ambiance are not available through the provided information.
The primary service of the Atlanta Legal Aid Society is to offer free civil legal assistance to those who qualify based on their income and other criteria. While the exact range of legal issues they handle isn't detailed in the provided information, legal aid societies typically assist with fundamental needs such as housing, family law (in certain circumstances), public benefits, and consumer issues. Given one of the reviews mentions difficulties with Social Security, it's plausible that this is one of the areas where they offer assistance.
Based on the customer reviews, there are varying perspectives on the services provided. One review expresses significant dissatisfaction with the initial interaction with the receptionist, stating that they were seemingly dismissed due to their income exceeding a certain threshold, without a clear explanation of the process or required paperwork. This individual felt that the organization was only interested in helping those with "stupidity and ignorance." This feedback highlights a potential issue with the intake process or communication regarding eligibility.
The second review raises more serious concerns about the ongoing legal representation. The client reports a lack of communication from their lawyer over extended periods, impacting their efforts to resolve Social Security issues and recover back payments. This individual feels their case is not being handled appropriately and is considering seeking a private attorney. This feedback suggests potential inconsistencies in case management and communication with clients.
Given these reviews, it is challenging to pinpoint specific "features" in a positive promotional sense. However, the core feature of the Atlanta Legal Aid Society is their mission to provide free legal services to low-income individuals who cannot afford to hire a private attorney. This is a crucial service for the community, aiming to ensure access to justice for vulnerable populations.
In terms of promotional information derived objectively from the provided text, there isn't any explicit positive promotion. The reviews offer mixed perspectives, with one being quite negative about the initial contact and the other expressing serious concerns about the handling of a Social Security case. Therefore, an objective introduction must acknowledge these points.
For local users of Lawyers Near Me, the Atlanta Legal Aid Society in Decatur offers the potential for free civil legal assistance if you meet their eligibility requirements. They can be contacted at the provided phone number to inquire about their services and eligibility criteria. However, it is important to be aware of the feedback from other users, which includes concerns about the reception process and the consistency of communication and case management.
If you are seeking legal aid and believe you meet the low-income criteria, contacting the Atlanta Legal Aid Society may be a starting point to explore your options. You can inquire about the types of cases they handle and the intake process. However, based on the provided reviews, it may be prudent to have clear expectations regarding communication and to proactively follow up on your case if you become a client.
In summary, the Atlanta Legal Aid Society in Decatur provides free civil legal services to eligible low-income individuals. While this is a valuable community resource, feedback from users indicates potential issues with initial reception and ongoing case management. Local users who believe they qualify for legal aid are encouraged to contact them for more information, keeping in mind the experiences shared by others.

Dec 05, 2024 · Sally FortsonGood luck trying to get services, answers; help or a call back from the Decatur office. Months ago, I went to their office to fill out the intake form because I could never get anyone on the phone: And leaving numerous messages was a waste of time. The receptionist was no help when I asked when would I hear back from them: Her answer was vague and I felt she was could care less. Specially; I was interested in getting help from the Senior Legal department. That was at least 4/5 months ago. Years ago. this office was on point by offering specific days for walk- in and answers. . While I realize things change and they may be short staffed I believe public transparency and professionalism is sorely lacking anytime communication is lacking and not given: Why not post information about application process, wait time, and what to expect. And hire a receptionist who is not on the phone doing intake phone calls while ignoring people in the lobby. If you go to their website they post/boast how they serve the community. Rubbish, Decatur office needs a course in professionalism and customer service.
Feb 09, 2024 · LaLinda HernandezWasn’t expecting much after reading the reviews while awaiting my call and not much is exactly what I got. The attorney who called stated within the first 30 seconds that she couldn’t help me, yet proceeded to question and third degree me for 30 more minutes. I felt like I was on the defense stand and I’m actually the plaintiff in my case. She spent the entire time trying to demean and downplay my situation to the point where I felt like I was speaking with a lawyer on the defendant’s team. While I understand picking apart someone’s case and argument is a part of the job, that only seems useful if you’re moving forward with the case. I had already decided to move forward with small claims court and gained no new information I didn’t already know from my own research. It just felt like a 30 minute attack which isn’t necessary in an already stressful situation. If you can’t help someone please don’t continue with the third degree; end the call promptly out of respect for that person’s time and energy or make it clear to the public what your criteria are and don’t return their call or take their information.
