Tom attempted to represent a customer of mine, and without letting me speak began screaming and lecturing me on the law. My company had put a mechanic’s lien on the non paying customer’s house over $1,800 in unpaid bills, and $1,700 in stolen tools and materials. I nicely explained to “super smart” Tom (he’s one of the top 2 lawyers at his low budget 2 person law firm) that I was 17/17 on winning cases in court because I only file mechanic’s liens when I’ve genuinely been ripped off and have proof. Tom would hear none of it. And kept running his his big mouth. So I told him it would never even make it to court because his client was too smart to pay him $2,500 to defend a $3,500 valid case, and then be forced to pay my actual good lawyer from the best law firm in Indiana the $20k he’d charge me. I’d have spent $20k just to make the customer pay me $500. Because that’s how I get down. The customer promptly fired Tom when his threats didn’t work on me. He still kept her money though. He’s an ambulance chaser who has a 2 person law firm because he got his law degree from a Cracker Jack box. Do not recommmed. PS: his whopping two five star reviews are from 2 people he’s friends with.

Features / Highlights

The provided customer reviews for Austin & Jones, P.C., featuring Thomas N. Austin, present starkly contrasting perspectives. It's crucial to examine both to form a balanced understanding:

  • Kind and Upstanding Attorneys (Positive Client Experience): One client describes both Thomas Austin and Bruce Jones as "two of the kindest attorneys you may come across." They are characterized as "straightforward, upstanding men" who have been practicing "for many years." This highlights a perceived high level of integrity and a compassionate approach, suggesting attorneys who genuinely believe in the justice system and aim to fulfill a need for help.
  • Good People and Excellent Attorneys (Positive Client Experience): The same positive review states, "They are simply good people and excellent attorneys." This strong endorsement speaks to their perceived competence and character.
  • Local Presence and Experience: As a long-standing firm in Indianapolis ("doing this for many years"), they likely possess significant local knowledge of Indiana's legal system, courts, and community dynamics.

However, it is equally important to acknowledge the highly negative review, which states: "Tom attempted to represent a customer of mine, and without letting me speak began screaming and lecturing me on the law... Tom would hear none of it. And kept running his big mouth... The customer promptly fired Tom when his threats didn’t work on me. He still kept her money though. He’s an ambulance chaser who has a 2 person law firm because he got his law degree from a Cracker Jack box. Do not recommmed. PS: his whopping two five star reviews are from 2 people he’s friends with." This review raises serious concerns about:

  • Professional Demeanor and Communication: Accusations of "screaming and lecturing," "running his big mouth," and not allowing the other party to speak are significant red flags regarding professional conduct and effective communication.
  • Client Retention and Financial Practices: The claim that the client "promptly fired Tom" and he "still kept her money" raises serious questions about client satisfaction and billing practices.
  • Perceived Competence and Reputation: The highly derogatory remarks ("ambulance chaser," "Cracker Jack box," "friends with" reviewers) strongly criticize his legal skill and ethical standing.

Prospective clients in Indiana should weigh both positive and negative feedback carefully. It is highly advisable to discuss any concerns openly during an initial consultation and to seek additional information or references if needed.

Given these mixed reviews, for Indiana locals considering Austin & Jones, P.C., it is critically important to conduct thorough due diligence. This should include an initial consultation where all concerns, particularly those raised in the negative review, are openly discussed. Clarifying expectations regarding attorney conduct, communication frequency, and billing transparency will be essential. I have, more than once sought the counsel of both Thomas Austin and Bruce Jones over the years. They are both two of the kindest attorneys you may come across. They are straightforward, upstanding men who have been doing this for many years. Folks have different reasons for becoming attorneys. There are those that do it because they believe in the justice system and see a need for help, and do their best to fulfill that need such as Tom and Bruce. They are simply good people and excellent attorneys.

I had a contract signed with Parks Pifer, he has now broke it. I am seeking an additional 50,000 in damages due to him not following through with the agreement with this firm
