Welcome to Lawyers Near Me, your platform for connecting with legal professionals in your local area. Today, we spotlight the Chapter 13 Trustee located at 200 S 7th St #310, Louisville, KY 40202, USA. While the title "Chapter 13 Trustee" might sound specific, it represents a crucial role in the bankruptcy process, particularly for individuals seeking to reorganize their debts under Chapter 13 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code. This introduction aims to provide local users with a detailed understanding of what a Chapter 13 Trustee does, the environment you might encounter, insights from customer feedback, and how to connect with this office.

Understanding the Role of a Chapter 13 Trustee

A Chapter 13 Trustee is not a personal lawyer whom you hire. Instead, they are an impartial official appointed by the bankruptcy court to oversee Chapter 13 bankruptcy cases. Their primary responsibilities include:

  • Receiving payments from debtors according to their confirmed repayment plans.
  • Distributing these funds to creditors.
  • Reviewing and potentially objecting to a debtor's proposed repayment plan.
  • Presiding over meetings of creditors (also known as 341 meetings).
  • Ensuring that debtors comply with the terms of their Chapter 13 plans.

In essence, the Trustee acts as an administrator of the Chapter 13 process, working to ensure fairness and adherence to the bankruptcy laws for both debtors and creditors.

The Environment of the Trustee's Office

Based on the address provided, the office is located in a commercial building in downtown Louisville. While specific details about the office decor or ambiance are not available online, one customer review does mention "clean and very polite people," suggesting a professional and courteous environment. When visiting or contacting the office, you can likely expect a standard professional office setting where administrative tasks related to bankruptcy cases are handled.

The Chapter 13 Trustee's office provides essential administrative services for individuals who have filed for Chapter 13 bankruptcy in the Louisville area. These services are primarily focused on the management and execution of the bankruptcy process rather than direct legal counsel. Key features include:

  • Case Administration: Overseeing the procedural aspects of Chapter 13 cases.
  • Information and Support (Administrative): Providing administrative information related to case status and payment procedures.
  • Meetings of Creditors: Conducting the mandatory meetings where debtors answer questions from the Trustee and creditors, though the Trustee primarily facilitates this process.

It's important to reiterate that the Trustee's office does not provide legal advice. If you are considering filing for Chapter 13 bankruptcy or have questions about your specific situation, you should consult with a qualified bankruptcy attorney.
