While their phone number is not provided in the available information, their physical address indicates a presence in the downtown Atlanta area. However, the online feedback from individuals who have used their services, particularly in bankruptcy cases, paints a deeply concerning picture that potential clients must carefully consider.
The available reviews for Clark & Washington Attorneys and Counselors at Law paint a stark and negative picture of their services, specifically concerning bankruptcy proceedings. One detailed account expresses profound regret over retaining Mr. Jason Lutz and the firm for a Chapter 7 bankruptcy case. The reviewer states that they initially consulted with Mr. Lutz regarding a business issue in December 2023 and explicitly communicated that proceeding with bankruptcy was contingent on the deficiencies impacting their credit. Despite the reviewer's assertion that their credit was not affected, Mr. Lutz allegedly proceeded to file a Chapter 7 bankruptcy listing approximately $25,000 in debt, a significant portion of which was related to the reviewer's business rather than personal finances.
Following the Chapter 7 filing, the bankruptcy trustee decided to sell the reviewer's property. The reviewer attempted to discuss this development with Mr. Lutz but found him dismissive. Mr. Lutz reportedly assured the client that he would do everything possible to save their home, claiming it would be protected or exempted, and advised them to continue making mortgage payments, which they did. However, when the reviewer requested a conversion to Chapter 13 bankruptcy, a process that could potentially have allowed them to retain their home, Mr. Lutz allegedly refused. The reviewer's property, valued at $620,000, was subsequently sold, allegedly well below market value. This resulted in the eviction of the reviewer and their minor children, with their personal belongings locked inside the house. While the firm later moved their belongings to a storage unit, the reviewer claims they have been denied access to their possessions, and many of their children's valuable items remain unaccounted for. The reviewer concludes by stating that hiring this firm was "one of the worst decisions" they have ever made and strongly advises others to "stay far away from Clark and Washington."
Another review corroborates a negative experience, describing the firm's approach to handling paperwork as merely processing forms. While acknowledging courteous phone conversations, this reviewer emphasizes a lack of proactive communication and oversight. They state that during the COVID-19 pandemic, all interactions were conducted via email. The firm allegedly proceeded with the bankruptcy filing as long as they had the "bare minimum" of necessary paperwork. The reviewer claims that explanations about the bankruptcy process were provided as computer printouts, indicating a lack of personalized guidance. Furthermore, they allege a lack of "checks and balances," citing an instance where a signed reaffirmation document for a car loan was not confirmed as received by the firm, leading to complications with the bank and the client paying on a loan that did not benefit their credit score post-bankruptcy. According to the reviewer, Clark & Washington's stance was that since they did not have a record of receiving the reaffirmation, the client was simply paying on a debt that had been discharged, also negatively impacting their co-signer, their college-aged son.
Based on these two detailed and highly critical reviews, it is impossible to identify any positive features or provide any form of promotional information for Clark & Washington Attorneys and Counselors at Law. The recurring themes of alleged misadvice, lack of diligence, poor communication, failure to protect client assets, and significant negative financial consequences for the clients paint a deeply troubling picture. These accounts should serve as a serious warning to any local users in Atlanta seeking legal representation, particularly in bankruptcy matters.
For individuals considering bankruptcy, a process with significant and long-lasting financial implications, it is crucial to find legal counsel that is not only knowledgeable but also communicative, proactive, and genuinely invested in protecting their clients' best interests. The experiences described in these reviews suggest a severe lack of these essential qualities at Clark & Washington Attorneys and Counselors at Law.
As a platform dedicated to connecting local users with legal professionals, "Lawyers Near Me" has a responsibility to present an objective overview of the available information. In the case of Clark & Washington Attorneys and Counselors at Law, the overwhelmingly negative feedback regarding their handling of bankruptcy cases necessitates a strong caution to potential clients. Thorough research, including seeking reviews from multiple sources and consulting with several attorneys before making a decision, is absolutely essential in such critical legal matters.
In conclusion, the available online reviews for Clark & Washington Attorneys and Counselors at Law, located in Atlanta, are overwhelmingly negative, particularly concerning their handling of bankruptcy cases. Get directionsI deeply regret retaining Mr. Jason Lutz and the law firm Clark and Washington for my Chapter 7 bankruptcy case. In December 2023, I consulted with Mr. Lutz about a business issue, which was the primary reason for filing. I specifically informed him that we could only proceed if the deficiencies impacted my credit. Ultimately, the deficiencies did not affect my credit, but Mr. Lutz still filed a Chapter 7 bankruptcy on my behalf, listing approximately $25,000 in debt—mostly credit card debt, some of which was tied to my business rather than personal finances. After filing Chapter 7, the trustee, Mr. Neil C. Gordon, decided to sell my property. I attempted to discuss this with Mr. Lutz, but he was dismissive and insisted he would do everything possible to save my home. He assured me that my home would be protected or exempted and advised me to keep my mortgage payments current, which I did. When I requested a conversion to Chapter 13 to protect my home, Mr. Lutz refused. My property, valued at $620,000, was sold well below market value. My minor children and I were evicted, and our personal belongings were locked inside the house. The firm later moved our belongings to a storage unit, but to this day, I have no access to them. Many of my children’s valuable possessions remain unaccounted for. Hiring this firm was one of the worst decisions I’ve ever made. Please, do yourself a favor and stay far away from Clark and Washington.
Jan 10, 2025 · Sisters Hair ClubPhone conversations are courteous BUT, understand that they simply process paperwork/forms. Plain and simple. During COVID, everything was done through email. As long as they have the bare minimum in necessary paperwork to perform the filing, their work is complete. Explanations on how bankruptcy works are computer printouts. There are not checks and balances. No one calls you if they send you a signature doc electronically and do not show receiving it back. You must ensure receiving and email confirmation with a copy of the fully signed docs. I reaffirmed a car loan knowing it would help in rebuilding my credit. My bank didn't receive it. The bankruptcy is closed and I'm paying on a car loan that doesn't benefit my credit score as the loan was written off in bankruptcy. Per C&W, since they didn't show receiving my reaffirmation, I'm simply paying on my car loan as a 'courtesy' since the debt has been written off. AND my college son was joint on the loan.
Jun 02, 2021 · Google UserThey are the absolute best! I called them B/C I really needed them. They asked me various questions and took my case after that things went really well I am happy to say they did a wonderful job on helping me. My credit is wonderful now and I am happy that I don’t have any creditors calling and harassing me anymore thank you Jesus for Clark and Washington I now have a fresh start! 🙌🏽
Oct 07, 2020 · lmichelle luvI have regrets. However, I can't undo what has been done. I don't feel as if I know what's going on with my case. The communication is not as effective as it should be for something as serious as filing bankrupt. I often feel as I annoy the staff with the questions and concerns. I pray that it all ends on a more positive note but as a current client, I am not impressed and I have more doubts than a sense of peace which is what I was seeking. My case still hasn't been discharged after almost of 5 - 6 months of complying. I hope I don't end up in more financial trouble than I was in when I sought help
Jan 03, 2019 · Johnethia DancerI used a this law firm to do a bankruptcy for me. I did everything I was suppose to do. I get a letter of my case being dismissed for not doing a credit counseling which I did. But I didn't use their company so it was not sent to them. I call the law office, they ask me to fax them a copy of it and I did. They told me they would take care of the case for me. So about a year and a half later I get a letter from a creditor stating I owe them money. So I contact this law firm asking why my case is still open. They act like its my fault and give me the run around. Now my case is closed but its closed a year and a half later then it was suppose to be. Now I can not get a house for another year and a half because of this. Very Unethical
