Reached out through their website and requested the Free Student Loan Review. Without bothering to ask for any additional information, I received an email telling me he couldn't help me, while I was derisively told that: "You didn't even tell me the name of the lender." I don't remember being asked for the name of my lender; if I'd been asked, I would have proportioned the information accordingly. I do remember being asked my loan number, loan amount, but NOT the name of my lender. Rude service. YUK!

Cohen Consumer Law promotes its services by highlighting its exclusive focus on consumer law, particularly federal student loan issues, and its commitment to helping individuals find solutions to their debt-related problems. Their website features information about their practice areas and encourages potential clients to ask questions to determine if the firm is the right fit for their needs. They emphasize that they offer a "free review" as a starting point.
However, the provided customer reviews present a mixed picture regarding client interactions:
One client describes a negative experience with the "Free Student Loan Review" process. They state that without asking for additional information, they received an email stating that help couldn't be provided, along with a "derisive" comment about not providing the lender's name, which the client does not recall being asked for. This review highlights concerns about initial communication, perceived rudeness, and a potential lack of thoroughness in the intake process, leading to the client calling the service "Rude service. YUK!"
Another client, who is disabled, expressed shock and disappointment at being quoted $150.00 for a 30-minute online consultation, especially after being directed to Attorney Joshua R.I. Cohen for help. This review points to concerns about accessibility and affordability of initial consultations for individuals facing financial hardship, particularly for those with disabilities who may already be struggling to find assistance. The client's sentiment of "Oh well, keep on keeping on then" conveys a sense of resignation and frustration at the inability to even have a conversation.
These reviews suggest that while Cohen Consumer Law aims to provide specialized assistance, there may be challenges in their initial client intake and fee communication, which could be off-putting for some potential clients, especially those in vulnerable financial situations. It's important for prospective clients utilizing the Lawyers Near Me platform to consider these reported experiences when evaluating Cohen Consumer Law for their consumer protection and student loan needs. Direct communication with the firm to clarify their consultation process and fees would be advisable to ensure alignment with individual expectations and circumstances.

Apr 08, 2025 · L TI was given the e-mail address to Joshua R.I. Cohen. I was shocked that for the first consultation he mentioned $150.00 just to talk for 30 minutes (on line too). I am disabled and can't get anyone to help. It would have been nice to just talk with him. Oh well, keep on keeping on then.
