A lot of thanks to Mr. Dorsey, we were able to get out our rental house lease contract with the landlord, and have our deposit/pre-paid rent back. We were happy with the rental house, until there was a slab leak back in June. I noticed that the engineered wood floor was popping up, and heard the watery sound when stepping on it. Told the landlord about the problem, and it took him 3 weeks to finally accept it's a slab leak and fix it. Therefore on July 4th afternoon, the landlord decided to shut off the main water, and asked us to stay in the house using water tank to temporarily hold water for use. We refused mainly for our 1.5 years old daughter, and moved into a nearby hotel room. We stayed there for a week until we determined that this was not going to work, and learned that the landlord was expecting our renter's insurance to pay for the hotel stay, not from his home insurance or his pocket. Given this financial constraint, as we as the fact that the repair work will take at least another 3 weeks, for which we will have to move our furnitures as well, we asked to terminate the lease contract. We told the landlord that in addition to the timing problem, we have serious health concerns to have our toddler live back to a dirty water soaked place, and my wife was going through a pre-scheduled medical procedure, making it even more difficult not to have a stable place to stay. The landlord had his brother (who happened to be his property manager and they both live in Austin) to tell us that we should keep our medical conditions only to ourselves, and it's irrelevant to the lease term. At this time I already pre-paid the July rent, so the landlord told us unless we agree to forfeit our deposit and July rent, he is not letting us to move out. After a lot of phone calls, we were out of options, and decided to request legal assistance. Fortunately for us, my wife enrolled legal assistance program through her employer, and was given a list of local lawyers who are in the legal network. I tried to make phone calls, which lead me to Mr. Dorsey, who not only spent his precious time listening to our situation, but also immediately started looking into the related law to help us. The same day he drafted a letter and sent it over to the landlord and his brother. Next day the landlord agreed to us moving out and returning the deposit/pre-paid rent, as long as I complete the move-out cleaning. After I provided the evidence that I cleaned everything as required the same weekend, the landlord returned our deposit and half of July rent, since we were only able to move our furnitures out by July 16th. It was very unfortunate situation that we had such unpleasant experience with this kind of landlord, but we were so fortunate to have Mr. Dorsey on our side helping us deal with such unfair and illegal activities. To me it was the fact that after being pushed around and tried to accommodate in every possible way, only Mr. Dorsey was willing to listen to us and be our voice to fight on our behalf, this truly matters and means so much to us. I never thought the landlord would be willing to compromise until Mr. Dorsey's letter did the magic. Our most sincere appreciation, Mr. Dorsey! Also lessons learned, always good to have a legal support when dealing with unfair and illegal activities.

Dorsey Law Introduce

When you're searching for "Lawyers Near Me" in Carrollton, Texas, and find yourself entangled in a landlord-tenant dispute or facing other real estate-related legal challenges, Dorsey Law, located at 3000 Keller Springs Rd Apt 200, Carrollton, TX 75006, offers legal services that may be relevant to your situation. While online reviews present a mixed picture of client experiences, it's important to consider the specific circumstances highlighted. One detailed positive review showcases the firm's potential effectiveness in resolving lease disputes, while another set of reviews raises concerns about responsiveness and timeliness in a different type of real estate matter.

The environment of Dorsey Law, as inferred from the positive testimonial, appears to be one where individual attention and a willingness to listen to client concerns are prioritized, at least in certain types of cases. The client who successfully terminated their lease and recovered their deposit and prepaid rent emphasized Mr. Dorsey's willingness to listen and immediately act on their behalf. This suggests a client-focused approach when the firm takes on a case and identifies a clear path for legal intervention. However, the contrasting negative reviews paint a picture of potential issues with communication and follow-through in other circumstances.

Based on the available information, the services offered by Dorsey Law seem to include, but may not be limited to:

  • Landlord-Tenant Dispute Resolution: Assisting tenants in navigating complex lease agreements, addressing issues such as uninhabitable living conditions (e.g., due to structural problems like slab leaks), and negotiating lease terminations. This may involve communicating with landlords, drafting legal letters, and advocating for the tenant's rights to recover deposits and prepaid rent.
  • Real Estate Document Preparation (Potentially): One negative review mentions a request for a document related to a house closing. This suggests that the firm may offer services related to real estate transactions, although the experience reported in the review was negative.

The features of Dorsey Law that can be objectively identified from the provided reviews include:

  • Potential for Effective Intervention in Lease Disputes: The positive review highlights a successful outcome in a challenging situation involving a landlord dispute, demonstrating an ability to understand relevant laws and act decisively on a client's behalf in this area.
  • Accessibility Through Legal Assistance Programs: The positive reviewer found Mr. Dorsey through their employer's legal assistance program, indicating that the firm may be part of such networks, making their services accessible to individuals enrolled in these programs.
  • Local Presence in Carrollton: Being located in Carrollton makes Dorsey Law a geographically convenient option for local residents seeking legal assistance.

It is important to note that the provided information does not contain any explicit promotional offers or statements from Dorsey Law itself. Therefore, an objective introduction can only be based on the experiences shared in the customer reviews. The stark contrast between the positive and negative feedback suggests that client experiences may vary significantly depending on the nature of the legal issue and potentially the firm's capacity or processes at a given time.

The positive review provides a detailed account of a tenant facing difficult circumstances due to a significant issue with their rental property and an uncooperative landlord. In this instance, Dorsey Law, specifically Mr. Dorsey, is credited with taking swift action that led to a resolution favorable to the tenant. The drafting of a letter to the landlord is mentioned as a key step that prompted the landlord to agree to the lease termination and the return of funds. This suggests that Dorsey Law possesses the ability to effectively advocate for tenants in lease disputes when they are engaged and responsive.

Conversely, the negative reviews describe a very different experience involving a request for a real estate document. These reviews highlight a lack of communication, missed deadlines, and a failure to deliver the requested service despite accepting payment. These accounts raise serious concerns about the firm's reliability and professionalism in at least one area of potential service.

Given the conflicting nature of the feedback, local users considering Dorsey Law for their legal needs should carefully weigh these experiences. For individuals specifically facing landlord-tenant disputes, the positive review offers a glimmer of hope and suggests that the firm may be effective in these situations. The reviewer's gratitude for Mr. Dorsey's willingness to listen and act as their "voice" indicates a level of dedication and client advocacy in that particular case.

However, the negative reviews regarding a real estate document request cannot be ignored. They point to potential challenges with communication, organization, and timely service delivery in other areas of law that the firm may handle. It is crucial for potential clients to conduct their own due diligence, perhaps by seeking additional references or clarifications regarding the firm's current practices and areas of focus.

In conclusion, Dorsey Law in Carrollton, TX, has demonstrated the potential to effectively assist clients in resolving landlord-tenant disputes, as evidenced by one detailed positive review. However, other online feedback raises concerns about the firm's responsiveness and reliability in handling other types of real estate matters. Local users searching for "Lawyers Near Me" and considering Dorsey Law should take these varied experiences into account and potentially seek further information to determine if the firm is the right fit for their specific legal needs. If I could give him zero stars I would. I was referred to Mr. Dorsey through my job's legal plan and only had a very simple request: a document that I needed my partner to sign at the closing of our new house. I first contacted Mr. Dorsey 3 weeks before the closing and never heard back, called again 2 1/2 weeks before my closing and explained what I needed and specified the timeframe. He accepted payment and said he would have the requested document ready in time for the closing that was going to take place on Sept 29th, 2017 and here we are....still waiting on my document. Multiple calls and emails were made and got no response. Worst of all, my closing took place last week and I never heard from him or got my document. I called him again today (10-3-2017) and gave him another chance to provide the document and still nothing. Very incompetent and does not follow through. Would not recommend him to anyone if you expect to have something done in a professional and timely manner.
