Had a very good experience working with Danelle Milone at D&D. This was my first experience working with a lawyer and she was a great communicator, prompt and walked me through each step of the process. I will definitely reach out if I need representation in the future and I'll be recommending her to anyone I know looking for a lawyer as well!
For local users in Portland, Maine, searching within the "Lawyers Near Me" category, Drummond & Drummond, LLP, located at One Monument Way, Portland, ME 04101, USA, can be contacted at (207) 774-0317 or +1 207-774-0317. This introduction aims to provide an objective overview of the firm based on the available online reviews, highlighting both positive and negative client experiences to offer a balanced perspective.
The limited number of reviews available presents a mixed picture of client satisfaction at Drummond & Drummond, LLP. One client reported a "very good experience" working with Danelle Milone. This positive feedback emphasizes her excellent communication skills, promptness, and ability to guide a first-time client through the legal process effectively. This client expressed a strong inclination to seek her representation again in the future and to recommend her to others seeking legal counsel.
In stark contrast, another client detailed a significantly negative experience specifically with associate attorney Matthew K. Simone, while also involving partner Scott E. Herrick in the latter stages. This detailed account raises serious concerns about the handling of a dispute with a property management company in Portland. According to this review, the initial legal strategy proposed by Matthew K. Simone underwent an immediate and unexplained shift after the engagement letter was signed. Despite the client's concerns about this pivot, Mr. Simone allegedly reassured them for approximately six months that this new approach was the most suitable.
However, the client reported that communication from Matthew Simone consistently mismanaged expectations, with the reality of the case's progress differing significantly from the assurances provided. The eventual outcome for this client was described as a "massive pile of legal bills," no resolution with the property manager, and a demand letter from their tenants threatening a lawsuit due to alleged miscommunications by Matthew Simone with the tenants' attorney. This paints a picture of a case that was not only unsuccessful but also led to further complications for the client.
The client further escalated their concerns to partner Scott E. Herrick. While Mr. Herrick reportedly heard the concerns regarding Matthew Simone, his subsequent action, following the threat of a lawsuit from the tenants, was to issue the final bill to the dissatisfied client. Although the client successfully negotiated a reduced final bill with Mr. Herrick, they still incurred a significant expense for what they perceived as an avoidable negative outcome. The reviewer expressed strong reservations about the firm and Matthew Simone recommending a similar course of action to future clients, deeming it "entirely irresponsible and a waste of resources and time." The client also voiced the sentiment of having paid for a junior associate to gain experience at their expense, questioning Matthew Simone's suitability for the case due to a perceived lack of experience and skills.
This negative review concludes with the client considering filing a formal complaint with the Maine State Bar Association against Matthew Simone for alleged miscommunications that directly led to a negative legal result. This serious consideration underscores the level of dissatisfaction and concern experienced by this particular client.
Based on these two contrasting reviews, it is challenging to provide a definitive assessment of the overall environment, services, and features of Drummond & Drummond, LLP. The positive experience with Danelle Milone suggests a competent and client-focused attorney within the firm. Her strengths appear to lie in clear communication, promptness, and effectively guiding clients through legal processes, particularly those new to engaging with lawyers.
Conversely, the negative experience with Matthew K. Simone raises concerns about case strategy, communication, expectation management, and the level of experience applied to certain legal matters. The client's perception of mismanaged expectations and a costly, unfavorable outcome suggests potential inconsistencies in service quality within the firm.
Given the limited information, it is difficult to ascertain the full range of legal services offered by Drummond & Drummond, LLP. The negative review pertained to a dispute involving a property management company, indicating some involvement in real estate-related disputes. The positive review did not specify the area of law for which Danelle Milone provided assistance. To understand the firm's comprehensive practice areas, local users would need to consult their website or contact them directly.
Similarly, the features of the firm are not clearly evident from these two reviews alone. The positive review highlights individual attorney attributes (communication, promptness), while the negative review points to potential weaknesses in case management and associate experience. Without more data, it's hard to generalize about the firm's overall approach, expertise, or client service standards.
In terms of promotional information, the positive review for Danelle Milone serves as a strong individual endorsement, suggesting that she is a valuable asset to the firm. However, the detailed negative review acts as a significant cautionary note for potential clients considering Drummond & Drummond, LLP. It underscores the importance of thorough vetting of individual attorneys within a firm and clear communication regarding case strategy and expectations.
In conclusion, Drummond & Drummond, LLP in Portland, Maine, presents a mixed profile based on the limited online reviews available. While Danelle Milone is highlighted for providing excellent service, a detailed negative experience with Matthew K. Simone raises concerns about case management and communication. For local users in the "Lawyers Near Me" category considering this firm, it is crucial to inquire about the specific attorney who would handle their case, their experience in the relevant area of law, and to ensure clear and consistent communication throughout the engagement. Further research and potentially seeking additional client feedback may be advisable before making a decision.

May 23, 2024 · Seth MusichMy experience with Drummond & Drummond, Llp, and more specifically associate attorney Matthew K. Simone, was absolutely horrible. I approached the firm for help in a dispute between myself and a property management company that was managing my condo in Portland. Matthew K. Simone was assigned to my engagement and initially pitched a legal position that would challenge the property managers' rights and authorizations but once I signed the engagement letter with Drummond, our position immediately changed to a completely different strategy. Despite my immediate concerns about the pivot, Matthew reassured me this was the best approach. This assurance continued for nearly 6 months until I received a communication that "things have not progressed as he had hoped". Matthew Simone consistently mismanaged my expectations through the entire process telling me one thing, but the reality was something completely different. The net result for me was a massive pile of legal bills yet to be revealed, no assistance from the property manager, and a legal demand letter from my tenants threatening to sue me based on the miscommunications Matthew Simone had with their attorney. I escalated my concerns to Scott E. Herrick, a partner at Drummond. Scott heard my concerns with Matthew Simone, and after my tenants threatened to sue me, Scott's next response was the final bill from his firm to me. I successfully negotiated the final bill with Scott E. Herrick to a reduced amount, but still paid a significant amount of money for a result that was completely avoidable. I would be appalled if the firm and Matthew Simone recommended the same course of action for a similar legal dispute with any potential client in the future as it would be entirely irresponsible and a waste of resources and time. I feel as if I paid for junior associate Matthew Simone to cut his teeth on a legal dispute he had no right representing me for as his lack of experience and skills were clearly evident over the six months I worked with him. I am considering filing a formal complaint with the Maine State Bar Association against Matthew Simone for his miscommunications throughout this engagement that directly led to a negative legal result.
