I have an outstanding debt with this collection firm and I to have gone through their lack of communication skills. I will however say that they are very accommodating when it comes to matters of not being able to make your monthly payment. I had lost my job and informed them that I could not afford to make my monthly payments at the moment and they were very accommodating and informed me that I could postpone my payments until I get back on my feet. I thought that was very considerate by allowing that kind of flexibility. They said to give them a call once I am able to resume my payments. The communication in the office could use a more affective System for the people trying to call in and resolve their financial issues.

Services Offered

Based on client reviews, Flanagan & Peat primarily appears to operate as a firm involved in debt collection and resolution. While detailed service descriptions beyond this specific area are not readily available in public snippets, the nature of the provided reviews indicates a focus on financial matters and the legal processes surrounding them.

  • Debt Collection and Resolution: The core of their services, as described by clients, involves the collection of outstanding debts. They seem to engage with individuals who owe money to various entities. The firm's role includes attempting to resolve these debts, which can involve direct communication, payment arrangements, and potentially legal actions if agreements are not met.

  • Payment Arrangement Flexibility: A notable aspect highlighted by a client is their accommodation regarding payment plans. Specifically, they were willing to postpone monthly payments for a client who had lost their job, showing flexibility in financial arrangements during periods of hardship. This indicates a willingness to work with debtors to find solutions, rather than rigidly adhering to original terms.

  • Legal Proceedings Related to Debt: One review mentions receiving a "court date notice," indicating that the firm does pursue legal avenues to collect debts, such as initiating court proceedings. This suggests their services extend to navigating the legal system for debt recovery on behalf of their clients (the creditors they represent).

It is important for individuals interacting with Flanagan & Peat to understand that, based on the provided reviews, they function as a collection firm, meaning they are likely representing creditors attempting to recover outstanding debts. For comprehensive information on specific legal services they offer beyond debt collection, direct contact with the firm is recommended.

Features / Highlights

Flanagan & Peat exhibit certain features and highlights based on the experiences of their clients, primarily within the context of debt collection:

  • Accommodation and Flexibility in Payment: A significant highlight, as noted by a client, is their willingness to be "very accommodating" when individuals face financial difficulties, such as job loss. They reportedly allowed a client to "postpone my payments until I get back on my feet," which was perceived as "very considerate" and a "kind of flexibility." This suggests a human-centric approach in certain situations, aiming to work with individuals through their hardships rather than strictly enforcing immediate payment.

  • Engagement in Legal Collection Processes: The firm does utilize legal channels, as evidenced by a client receiving a "court date notice." This indicates they are prepared to pursue legal action to resolve outstanding debts when necessary, which is a standard practice for collection firms.

  • Potential for Communication Challenges: While offering flexibility, client feedback also points to areas where communication could be improved. One review stated, "The communication in the office could use a more affective System for the people trying to call in and resolve their financial issues." Another noted, "I have called this office multiple times without receiving a call back!!" This suggests that while accommodating in policy, the practical implementation of communication might face challenges, which is important for prospective clients to be aware of.

  • Administrative Efficiency Concerns: The situation where a client received a court date notice for a bill already paid in full and confirmed by a cleared check indicates a potential administrative disconnect. This highlights the importance for clients to maintain thorough records of all payments and communications when dealing with collection firms.

These highlights collectively paint a picture of a firm that, while potentially offering flexibility in payment, may have areas for improvement in its administrative and communication systems.

Promotions or Special Offers

Based on the provided information, Flanagan & Peat does not explicitly advertise any specific "promotions or special offers" in the traditional sense, such as discounts on services. However, a key aspect of their approach, which could be considered a form of accommodation during difficult financial times, is:

  • Flexible Payment Arrangements / Postponement Options: As highlighted by a client review, the firm has demonstrated a willingness to work with individuals facing financial hardship, allowing them to postpone or adjust payment plans. This flexibility, while not a "discount," serves as a valuable offer by providing a lifeline during periods of economic uncertainty. It allows debtors to avoid immediate default and potentially severe consequences, giving them time to regain financial stability.

For individuals dealing with debt, the ability to negotiate flexible payment terms can be a significant benefit. Prospective clients experiencing financial difficulties are encouraged to discuss their situation directly with Flanagan & Peat to explore any available flexible arrangements.

Their physical presence at 57 North St #102 in Danbury offers convenient accessibility for individuals seeking to address their financial situations in person.

This level of understanding and consideration, though not universally offered by all collection firms, can make a significant difference in a debtor's experience.

However, it is crucial for locals to also be aware of the reported challenges in communication and potential administrative oversights. The feedback regarding unreturned calls and court notices for already-paid bills highlights the necessity for individuals to maintain meticulous records of all transactions and communications. Despite these challenges, for those who value the potential for flexible payment terms during difficult times, and are prepared to be diligent in their own record-keeping and follow-up, Flanagan & Peat offers a local point of contact for managing debt-related legal matters. Their presence in the community provides a direct avenue for communication, albeit one that may require persistence. I just received a court date notice in the mail for a bill that I paid to their office IN FULL months ago and stated so on my answer that was sent to me at my new address in Florida. I have called this office multiple times without receiving a call back!! I am somehow expected to buy a flight back to CT and miss days days of work so I can show them a copy of a cleared check from my bank account??? Their office endorsed the check so funds have definitely been received over 2 months ago, before I responded to the original "answer" for the court, and also sending this office a copy. This is ridiculous.

I understand that it’s my own fault that I owe some money to a specific business in this area. However, I set up a payment plan with Attorney Peat for $30 a month everyone month, due by the 6th. I have made 5 payments thus far. I have received 2 letters from the Superior Court in Danbury stating first that I needed to set up a payment plan after I had already made my 3rd payment. Now, I get a letter stating that I owe $35 a week until $471 is paid off. I have mailed 6 payments of $30 to this law office - all of which have been deposited/cashed and have come out of my checking account. Staff would never let me speak to Attorney Peat directly, and have told me 3x to “ignore the letters, the attorney will address it with the court/clerk.” Now the court is threatening to attack my paycheck even though I’ve paid almost $200 already toward my outstanding bill. They are incompetent, unresponsive, and unprofessional. Still waiting for an answer about this most recent letter from the court. Today is 1/9/18, and I left a voicemail on 12/27/17. UNACCEPTABLE. I do not need my new employer to be aware of my financial situation that a i thought was being handled properly and professionally.

Nov 11 th/17--have now requested a balance to pay off the debt 5 times and am still waiting for the courtesy of a reply. They were quick to return post dated checks. An answer to a simple question--unable to get. Similar experience--I have sent letters and called and never get a response back. Very discourteous, inconsiderate and unprofessional. Am currently requesting a balance invoice in writing to liquidate a bill--will see how that goes. It is now 6 weeks later and 3 requests for balance invoice. Still waiting to get a response. Strange way to do business.

This so called lawyer has the ability to send strongly worded letters and court documents, but, has no idea how to pick up a phone and return calls after repeated attempts to pay a debt in full? Have made numerous phone calls and left messages, pretty much left a mesaage for every extension in the office with no call back! Ive been trying to contact to no avail and now received court docs? Sham service! Not BBB accredited, hmmm, wonder why... Will be going to the office today.
