I hired Attorney Samantha Gentel of Generations Law Group in May 2022 to help facilitate my elderly parent’s transition to a dementia care facility, as well as their application to Medicaid/Mass Health. Attorney Gentel was recommended to me by at least four people in the metro Boston elder care network, including the owner of the home health care agency I hired to help me look after my parent while they were still living at home. Samantha succeeded in getting my parent approved for Medicaid/Mass Health three-and-a-half months after their admission to the dementia care facility, which is quite a feat, as I understand the process can sometimes take up to nine months. Initially, my parent’s application to Medicaid/Mass Health was denied, but Samantha filed an appeal and won our case. Apparently, the ruling was a big deal and set a precedent in the legal world. Samantha also made a positive impression on the business manager at my parent’s dementia care facility, who shared that they found Samantha to be “excellent to work with,” and that they were awestruck that Samantha’s calculation of what my parent’s Medicaid/Mass Health patient-paid amount would be matched the first invoice from the Commonwealth down to the cent. The business manager explained that, in their experience, an attorney will make a ballpark estimate and the applicant will only learn the exact amount upon receipt of their first invoice. It’s worth mentioning that I was not at my best during the five months I worked with Samantha, because I was overwhelmed with simultaneously caring for my parent 24/7 in our home while performing my deadline-driven 9 to 5 job, and then, after moving them to dementia care, I was beset with grief. My ability to focus, concentrate, and comprehend was impaired, and yet Samantha guided me through what seemed like never-ending paperwork with aplomb. With her encouragement, I was able to gather, complete, and submit all the required records, forms, and supporting documents that she needed to win our case. I am enormously thankful to Attorney Gentel for her diligent work; I have already hired her to facilitate my parent’s reapplication to Medicaid/Mass Health next year; and I highly recommend her.

Based on the compelling testimonials, the core services offered by Generations Law Group, particularly through Attorney Samantha Gentel, encompass elder law and estate planning. A significant portion of the positive feedback revolves around Attorney Gentel's expertise in navigating the complexities of Medicaid/MassHealth applications for elderly individuals transitioning to care facilities. One client's detailed account highlights her exceptional success in securing Medicaid/MassHealth approval for their parent in a remarkably short timeframe – three and a half months, significantly faster than the typical processing time which can extend up to nine months. Beyond the successful outcome, the client also praised Attorney Gentel's meticulous attention to detail, noting that her calculation of the parent's patient-paid amount matched the Commonwealth's first invoice down to the cent. This level of accuracy impressed even the business manager at the dementia care facility, who considered it an unusual and highly valuable aspect of Attorney Gentel's service, as attorneys typically provide only ballpark estimates. Jan 13, 2022 · Paula VellanteIt is rare to stumble upon a person that can make a positive impact on one’s life that is significant, long term, and transformative. My family and I had this experience when working with attorney Samantha Gentel. My now-90-year old mother is in the later stages of Alzheimer’s, but when we first met Samantha, we were just realizing that she would need round-the-clock and prohibitively expensive care. Applying for MassHealth was the only option to try to get help with these costs, but the process is tricky and requires more documentation than you would ever think possible. Samantha, however, not only had the needed knowledge of this program and its requirements--her attention to detail, her diligence, and her determination were, and are, second-to-none. From sitting in on phone conferences with me and my parents’ bank to help that institution understand what information was required from them for our MassHealth application to anticipating any potential setbacks before they occurred, Samantha guided my siblings and me through every step of the process to its successful conclusion. Now, three years on, my mother is at home, completely cared for by aides who treat her as lovingly as her own children. She and my 94-year old father are secure in their situation, and can continue to live in the home they established 60 years ago when they first married. Over these past three years, I have sent person after person to Samantha, knowing that they would benefit from her straightforward, calm, practical help when they were in situations similar to mine. I will continue to recommend her and Generations Law Group, because this firm makes one feel like family—welcome, important, and cared for. If you are struggling to navigate care for your elderly relatives, I urge you to contact them. We will forever be grateful to Samantha!
Mar 16, 2019 · Aimee ScorzielloI lucked into this firm when my attorney joined! Samantha Gentel made the difficult process of enrolling my elderly mother in the MassHealth system so easy and even helped me find a wonderful nursing home. She really related to my situation and made me feel very comfortable, even though most of the time I had no idea what I was doing. She guided me though many changes since. I had the pleasure of dealing with Cathy Summers as well. Their honesty is presented in such a way you feel like you've got a whole other family in your corner. Caring for elderly parents or loved ones is often difficult. This firms knowledge and confidence will put any one at ease. Thank you Generations Law Group.
