Be aware - never have a deal with this business. They do real estate business, so I was their tenant (489 2nd Ave, 10016) for 2 years. The first year was so-so (we had a lot of problems because it was old building), but the second year was horrible - no building management, no cleaning at all, a lot of garbage on backyard and in a floor inside of the building, extremely dirty. As a consequence of this - ROACHES! They attacked my apartment especially at nighttime, they just went from lobby to my room through the threshold. To talk about with landlord (Joseph Giaimo) - wasting of time. Very disrespectful and rude person. So, I bought poison, cleaned and sanitized area in front of my entrance door by myself. Also, he turned off the heating system, citing a breakdown outside the building. We sat in the cold for three days. After the call to 311, the heating began to work - no breakdown existed, landlord just saved money on heating. Overall, the building was very poorly heated and we had to use our own electric heater. Also, the security camera was not working, and for the last year someone began to steal mail and packages. The lock on my mailbox was broken and landlord didn't respond in any way to this problem as well. One day I came to his office to pay my rent and described all problems, he started to scream to me - it was the last drop and I decided to move. His secretary told me, that according to law I can take back my security deposit in two weeks after my move out date. I moved on time Febriary,1. I get my deposit back March,1 and it was really hard. I was prepared to go to court, fortunately this crazy landlord gave me my money back, but with extremely unprofessional and abusive behavior

Giaimo & Giaimo Introduce

For local users in the New York City area seeking legal representation through the "Lawyers Near Me" platform, Giaimo & Giaimo is listed at 643 10th Ave, New York, NY 10036, USA. They can be contacted at (212) 757-8888 or via their mobile number +1 212-757-8888. Located in Manhattan, New York, Giaimo & Giaimo's name suggests a partnership or family-run legal practice. However, the available customer review focuses heavily on their role as a landlord in a real estate context, providing significant negative feedback regarding their property management practices.

Based on the detailed account from a former tenant at 489 2nd Ave, 10016, Giaimo & Giaimo appears to be involved in real estate business, acting as a landlord. The review spans a two-year tenancy, with the second year being described as "horrible." The tenant details a lack of building management and cleaning, leading to unsanitary conditions with garbage accumulation in common areas and the backyard. A severe roach infestation, originating from the lobby and spreading to the tenant's apartment, is explicitly mentioned as a consequence of these conditions. This suggests that while the firm may operate as lawyers, a significant aspect of their business, at least in this instance, involved property management and landlord responsibilities.

The environment described by the former tenant is far from professional or well-maintained. The lack of building management and cleaning created an unsanitary environment conducive to pests. The backyard and interior common areas are described as having a lot of garbage and being "extremely dirty." The roach infestation further paints a picture of neglect in property upkeep. Additionally, the tenant recounts issues with essential building services, including the heating system being turned off under false pretenses, resulting in tenants being cold for three days until intervention from external authorities (311). The building is also described as poorly heated generally, necessitating the use of personal electric heaters. Security concerns were also raised, with a non-functional security camera and instances of mail and package theft. The tenant's mailbox lock was broken, and the landlord allegedly did not respond to this security issue. This detailed account paints a picture of a poorly managed and maintained residential building under the purported care of Giaimo & Giaimo.

The features highlighted in the review are overwhelmingly negative and pertain to their conduct as landlords rather than as legal representatives. The alleged lack of building management, absence of cleaning, and failure to address pest infestations indicate a lack of responsibility towards tenant well-being and property maintenance. The accusation of deliberately turning off the heating to save money, coupled with the generally poor heating, suggests a disregard for tenant comfort and potentially safety. The neglect of security concerns, such as the broken security camera and unaddressed mailbox lock, raises questions about their commitment to tenant safety and security. The reviewer's direct interactions with the landlord, Joseph Giaimo, are described as a "waste of time," with him being labeled "very disrespectful and rude." This alleged unprofessional and abusive behavior towards a tenant is a significant negative feature. Furthermore, the delay in returning the security deposit and the difficult process involved, despite the secretary stating a two-week timeframe, suggests potential issues with their handling of tenant finances and adherence to legal obligations regarding security deposits. The fact that the tenant was "prepared to go to court" to retrieve their deposit underscores the severity of this issue.

Given the nature of the detailed negative review, there is no positive promotional information to extract. Instead, the review serves as a strong warning against dealing with Giaimo & Giaimo, at least in their capacity as landlords. The former tenant explicitly advises, "Be aware - never have a deal with this business." This powerful negative endorsement overshadows any potential positive attributes the firm might possess in their legal practice. The detailed account of poor living conditions, neglected building maintenance, alleged disregard for tenant comfort and safety, and unprofessional and rude behavior from the landlord (Joseph Giaimo) acts as a significant deterrent for anyone considering renting property managed by them. While the firm's legal services are not detailed, the extremely negative experience as a tenant raises serious concerns about their overall business practices and ethical standards.

In conclusion, Giaimo & Giaimo, located in New York City, appears to operate both as a law firm and as a real estate business, acting as landlords for properties such as 489 2nd Ave, 10016. However, a detailed review from a former tenant provides a scathing account of their property management practices. The tenant describes a poorly maintained building with sanitation issues leading to a roach infestation, inadequate heating, neglected security concerns, and unprofessional and rude behavior from the landlord, Joseph Giaimo. The process of retrieving the security deposit was also described as difficult and delayed. For local users in the "Lawyers Near Me" category who might be considering legal services from Giaimo & Giaimo, this detailed negative experience as a tenant warrants extreme caution and thorough due diligence into their legal practices. The explicit warning to "never have a deal with this business" should be taken seriously, and prospective clients should seek further information and consider alternative legal representation to ensure their needs are met with professionalism and respect.
