I would not hire Robert Holmes. He does not put up a fight, he is very passive and tends to agree with the opposing counsel. He forgets crucial information and ponds stuff off to his associates and double charges you. I didn’t feel like he was in my corner at all but more in my exes corner. He has no compassion and does not explain anything but give 1 word answers. He left out key facts in trial that could have had a complete different outcome. He truly does not have the best interest of the client in mind but thinks of his pocket first. I regret hiring him. I would never recommend him to anyone. His negligence truly hurt me in trial. I lost big. He couldn’t even close out my divorce and I had to get a substitution of attorney. Can’t believe someone like him is legal to practice law.
For individuals in the Glendale, California area seeking legal representation and utilizing the 'Lawyers Near Me' platform, Holmes & Holmes is a law firm located at 1111 N Brand Blvd # 400. When considering legal counsel, it is important to review available information to make an informed decision. The following introduction aims to provide an objective overview of Holmes & Holmes based on the feedback shared by recent clients.
Based on the limited reviews available online, the environment and client experience at Holmes & Holmes, specifically concerning Robert Holmes, appear to be areas of concern for some individuals. One client described feeling that Mr. Holmes was "very passive" and tended to "agree with the opposing counsel," which led to a feeling of not having strong representation. This client also mentioned instances of forgotten crucial information, delegation to associates coupled with double charging, and a perceived lack of genuine concern for the client's best interests, suggesting a potentially transactional rather than client-focused environment. The client explicitly stated, "I didn’t feel like he was in my corner at all but more in my exes corner," highlighting a significant dissatisfaction with the advocacy provided.
The services mentioned in the reviews relate primarily to family law matters, specifically divorce, child support, and spousal support. One client reported spending a significant amount ($22,000) to secure child and spousal support payments but expressed disappointment regarding the lack of a clear strategy for property division. This suggests that while some aspects of family law cases might be handled, clients may experience shortcomings in the overall strategic planning and execution. Furthermore, this client alleged delays and unfulfilled promises regarding a settlement agreement. The ultimate outcome for this client was a directive to sign a stipulation "as is," followed by a notification that the firm would no longer represent them, coupled with a threat of attorney fees if the case proceeded to trial. This paints a picture where the provision of services may fall short of client expectations, particularly in complex or contested matters.
The features highlighted by the negative reviews include a perceived lack of strong advocacy, issues with communication and explanation, and concerns about billing practices. One client felt that Robert Holmes "does not put up a fight" and gives "1 word answers," indicating potential shortcomings in client communication and proactive representation. The allegation of leaving out "key facts in trial" that could have altered the outcome raises serious concerns about the thoroughness and effectiveness of the legal representation provided. The experience of one client who had to seek a "substitution of attorney" because Mr. Holmes "couldn’t even close out my divorce" suggests significant challenges in case management and completion. Another concerning feature raised is the alleged prioritization of the attorney's financial interests over the client's, with the client stating that Mr. Holmes "truly does not have the best interest of the client in mind but thinks of his pocket first." The alleged threat of attorney fees upon expressing dissatisfaction further underscores a potentially adversarial dynamic between the firm and its clients in some instances.
Based on the provided reviews, there is no positive promotional information to report. Instead, the feedback serves as a cautionary note for potential clients. One reviewer explicitly stated, "I would not hire Robert Holmes" and "I would never recommend him to anyone," citing negligence that "truly hurt me in trial" and led to a significant loss. The other review also ends with a strong negative sentiment, focusing on the perceived abandonment and threat from the attorney after substantial fees were paid. These experiences do not offer any basis for recommending the services of Holmes & Holmes based solely on this available feedback.
Given the nature of the provided reviews, it is crucial for local users considering Holmes & Holmes for their legal needs to be aware of these reported experiences. While every case is unique, and these reviews represent only a small sample of potential client interactions, they raise significant questions about the firm's approach to client advocacy, communication, and case management, particularly in family law matters such as divorce, child support, and spousal support. There is no information within these reviews that could be construed as promotional or indicative of positive aspects of the firm.

Apr 06, 2023 · martin leeI spent $22k just to get child and spousal support payments, but there was no strategy in place to get the property division and after 2 months of delays and promises to get a settlement agreement hammered out - I was left with no guidance on what my rights were and what I could expect. When I complained Mr. Holmes told me to just sign the Stipulation as is and that they would not longer represent me and threatened me with attorney fees if he had to go to trial. Attorneys are supposed to fight for you not threaten and abandon you after they take your money.
Feb 16, 2021 · Nancy BacaGoing through (my sisters) divorce is difficult but I’m so happy that she had the guidance of Robert Holmes who supported her every step of the way. He is determined, focused & was professional every step of the way. I can’t thank him enough for helping her navigate this step in her life. I highly recommend him.
Jan 19, 2020 · Dave TravailleMy opinion is that this law firm is very unprofessional and unethical, charging my ex wife $4,000.00 up front for a simple divorce. Had to proceed to file a complaint with the California Bar, since I am on disability and have been left with no income. I allege this can be considered a conspiracy to extort an unfair settlement, since my ex wife has already stolen my money and is now trying to steal my home.
