Communication was laughable at best. If you aren’t going to trial, I’d recommend taking a public defender over these guys, or just any other firm. They kept pushing my case back for over a year just for an arraignment. Multiple times I took off work just for them to cancel on me the day of, sometimes not even notifying me until 45+ minutes after my appointment time. Also, knowing I lived nowhere close, they didn’t catch that I was scheduled on a day court isn’t even in session, so I made a whole four hour trip for nothing. Once I was finally able to get into a court room, they showed up nearly an hour late with a backup lawyer, not reaching out once to notify me. I requested to talk to them about potentially getting at least a partial refund, and never heard from them again. Overall, they did less than nothing for me, and I regret spending the thousands I did for little to no work, and their complete lack of communication. DO NOT, give them your money. Publix defenders will do more for you than them!

J. M. Heller, Attorney at Law, P.C. Introduce

Welcome to the local introduction of J. M. Heller, Attorney at Law, P.C., a legal practice situated at 291 Jarvis St, Canton, GA 30114, USA. For users of the "Lawyers Near Me" platform seeking legal assistance in the Canton area, J. M. Heller, Attorney at Law, P.C., can be contacted at (770) 345-1130 or their mobile number, +1 770-345-1130. It is crucial for potential clients to consider the experiences shared by previous clients when making a decision about legal representation. The following introduction is based solely on the provided customer reviews, which offer critical perspectives on the firm's services.

One client described their experience with the firm as having "laughable" communication. This reviewer, who did not proceed to trial, suggested that individuals in a similar situation might be better served by a public defender or another law firm altogether. They reported significant delays in their case, which was allegedly pushed back for over a year merely to reach the arraignment stage. The client recounted multiple instances of taking time off work for scheduled appointments that were canceled on the same day, sometimes with notification occurring more than 45 minutes after the appointment time. Furthermore, despite knowing the client lived far from the courthouse, the firm apparently scheduled them for a court date on a day when court was not even in session, resulting in a wasted four-hour trip. When the client finally had a courtroom appearance, the firm's representative reportedly arrived nearly an hour late with a backup lawyer, without any prior notification. Following these issues, the client requested to discuss a potential partial refund but claimed to have never heard back from the firm. Overall, this reviewer felt that the firm provided "less than nothing" for the thousands of dollars spent, citing a complete lack of communication and regretting their decision to hire them. They strongly advised others against giving the firm their money, suggesting that public defenders would offer better service.

Another client expressed "mixed feelings" about the firm. Their initial interaction directly with J. M. Heller, the name-barrer of the firm, was described as very encouraging, positive, and aligned with what they paid for. However, their subsequent experience upon retaining the firm a second time was "deeply disappointed." In the second instance, the client's case was handled by an associate, John Weschler, who was characterized as "extremely impersonable and rude." The client felt that their case was largely ignored until the week of the court appearance. When they questioned the plan or sought reassurance from the lawyer they had paid and trusted, they reported receiving dismissive responses, such as "I'm not your psychiatrist" and "I won't even entertain that," when trying to understand the value of retaining the firm, especially since the plea deal offered was the same one available without representation. This client concluded that it would be better to save money or choose a different firm unless direct work with Heller could be guaranteed. They also noted that J. M. Heller himself did not respond to their requests to speak with him about the issues with his associate, even after being made aware of the complaint, which the reviewer found concerning for a firm owner regarding client trust.

Based on these two customer reviews, the overall sentiment leans heavily negative, highlighting significant concerns regarding communication, case management, professionalism of at least one associate, and the firm's responsiveness to client issues. Potential clients using the "Lawyers Near Me" platform should carefully consider these experiences when evaluating whether to engage J. M. Heller, Attorney at Law, P.C., for their legal needs.

The reviews suggest that the firm handles criminal defense cases, as indicated by the mention of arraignment and plea deals. However, the quality of service appears to vary significantly, potentially depending on whether the client works directly with J. M. Heller or one of his associates. The services, therefore, seem to include representation in criminal matters, but the effectiveness and client experience are called into question by the provided feedback.

There is no information provided in the reviews about the physical environment of the office. The focus of the feedback is primarily on the interactions with the attorneys and the perceived quality of legal service.

In terms of features, one might consider the firm having multiple attorneys as a feature, allowing them to handle a potentially larger volume of cases. However, the reviews suggest that this might come at the cost of individual client attention and consistent quality of service. A potential positive feature, based on one part of a review, is that working directly with J. M. Heller might lead to a more encouraging and positive experience.

There is no promotional information available in the provided reviews. Potential clients would need to contact the firm directly to inquire about their areas of specialization and any specific offers.

For local users of "Lawyers Near Me" considering J. M. Heller, Attorney at Law, P.C., it is strongly recommended to carefully weigh the negative experiences shared by these reviewers. The reported issues with communication, delays, and the conduct of at least one associate raise significant concerns. If considering this firm, it would be prudent to inquire about the specific attorney who would handle their case and potentially seek further references or reviews.

In conclusion, J. M. Heller, Attorney at Law, P.C., located in Canton, GA, offers legal services that appear to include criminal defense. However, the recent customer reviews provided indicate serious issues with communication, case handling, and the professionalism of at least one associate. While one reviewer had a positive initial interaction with J. M. Heller himself, subsequent experiences with other attorneys in the firm were highly negative. Potential clients should exercise caution and carefully consider these reported experiences before deciding to engage this firm for their legal needs. You can contact J. M. Heller, Attorney at Law, P.C., at (770) 345-1130 for more information, but it would be advisable to do so with the concerns raised in these reviews in mind.

I have mixed feelings about this firm, as my initial interaction with them (only with Heller himself-- name-barrer of firm) was very encouraging, positive, and what I paid for. However, the next time I retained the firm (expecting same experience) I was deeply disappointed. My case was handled not by Heller himself but his associate John Weschler who was extremely impersonable and rude, frankly. It seemed that my case was completely ignored until the week of appearance and when I dared question plan/approach or ask for reassurance from the lawyer that I paid & trusted to handle my case, I was told "I'm not your psychiatrist" and "I won't even entertain that" as responses to why retaining the firm ultimately mattered, as I was offered the same exact deal without representation and couldn't understand what was the benefit of paying the firm if negotiation didn't happen or was poorly done. The boil down is: save your money or retain a different firm unless you can be guaranteed to work directly with Heller. However, it's notable that as the name-barrer of the firm he didn't respond to my requests to speak to him instead of his associate, even after he understood there was complaint. It would seem as the firm owner his choice of associates or at least his care when those chosen associates destroy client trust would be greater. So: choose a different law firm; this one is not worth your energy and money, especially if you are already stressed about legal proceedings.

John Heller is a fraud. I was promised immediate action upon sending my retainer. Instead, they ignored my case for weeks. When I contacted them to ask where my petition was… Nicholle sent an incomplete boiler plate petition. I called John Heller the following business day and he very unprofessionally told me “WE ARE DONE. You’re expressing too much urgency in your emails. We are done.” He took half my retainer fee even though he spent 0 minutes on my case. Nicholle promised me my refund, and it was never sent. You’re better off finding a different attorney to represent your case. Now I have to take John Heller to court for breaching the contract and taking unearned funds out of the retainer. Don’t let them bully you if you’re having a similar experience with this law firm. You’re entitled to your retainer back if they’ve breached your contract as well!

Jeff Heller & Kam Keene are a tremendous force in the courtroom. You will not find more thorough & aggressive representation. They simply perform miracles, especially in Cherokee County. Great guys to work with. They kept me informed & educated every step of the way. The results were amazing. Highly recommended. Thank you so much, gentlemen!
