I would not recommend this law firm to anyone. They filed my petition in the wrong court. They charged me $3200. My petition was denied and the judge said this case belongs in family court. They admitted no fault for this error. Then wanted to charge me $3500 to file in Family court. This is where they should have filed a petition to begin with. No refund and no fault admitted. Highway robbery. They also stated they were trying to save me money. Really by charging me twice.
Welcome to the profile for Johnson/Turner, a law firm located in downtown Minneapolis and listed on the "Lawyers Near Me" platform. Situated at 121 N Washington Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55401, USA, Johnson/Turner aims to provide legal services to individuals in the local community. As a platform connecting users with nearby legal professionals, "Lawyers Near Me" provides a space for individuals to research and select legal representation based on their specific needs and location.
Johnson/Turner operates from an office in a downtown Minneapolis location, suggesting accessibility for residents and businesses in the surrounding areas. The environment is likely a standard professional office setting where clients can meet with their legal representatives to discuss their cases and receive counsel. However, specific details regarding the office ambiance or amenities are not publicly available.
Based on the limited information available directly from the firm and, importantly, the experiences shared by recent customers, it is challenging to provide a comprehensive overview of all specific legal services offered by Johnson/Turner. However, drawing inferences from the negative reviews, it appears they handle various legal matters, potentially including family law and other civil litigation. One review explicitly mentions a "petition" being filed, which could relate to various legal proceedings. It's crucial for prospective clients to directly inquire with Johnson/Turner about their specific areas of expertise to determine if they align with their legal needs.
Given the significant negative feedback provided by multiple recent customers, it is essential to highlight the features and potential drawbacks based on these experiences:
Billing Practices: One recurring theme in the reviews is dissatisfaction with Johnson/Turner's billing practices. One client described a "bundled services" approach where a flat fee covers representation up to a specific court date. This client found this method significantly more expensive than traditional hourly billing and expressed a lack of clarity regarding what the initial fee covered, particularly concerning a brief initial court appearance.
Accountability and Communication: Another major concern raised is a perceived lack of accountability and issues with communication. One client detailed a three-month delay in receiving a crucial case analysis document and alleged a failure by the attorney to take responsibility for this oversight. This client also reported instances of unprofessional communication.
Errors and Redress: A particularly serious allegation involves the firm filing a petition in the wrong court, leading to its denial and the client being asked to pay an additional substantial fee to refile in the correct court, without any admission of fault or offer of a refund for the initial error.
Transparency and Misrepresentation: One reviewer felt misled about the scope of services covered by the initial fee, believing it would include a substantive court hearing, which turned out to be a brief administrative meeting. This raises concerns about the clarity of information provided to new clients.
Given the substantial negative feedback and serious allegations presented in the customer reviews, it is difficult to objectively highlight positive features or recommend Johnson/Turner without reservation. Prospective clients should carefully consider these experiences and conduct thorough due diligence before engaging their services.
Currently, there is no promotional information available for Johnson/Turner that can be objectively presented. The focus of the available information is overwhelmingly negative, centered around billing disputes, errors in handling cases, and concerns about communication and accountability.
In conclusion, while Johnson/Turner is listed on the "Lawyers Near Me" platform and operates from a downtown Minneapolis address, recent customer experiences raise significant concerns regarding their billing practices, accountability, communication, and the handling of legal matters. Individuals seeking legal representation in Minneapolis are strongly advised to carefully review these accounts and conduct thorough research, including seeking additional reviews or testimonials, and to ask detailed questions about fees, scope of services, and communication protocols before making a decision. Contacting Johnson/Turner directly at (651) 371-9117 or +1 651-371-9117 for detailed information and clarification on their services and fees is highly recommended, keeping in mind the experiences shared by previous clients.

Jan 14, 2025 · Linda MillhouseOverall, I was dissatisfied with my experience in working with Johnson Turner primarily for two reasons; lack of accountability and misrepresentation of scope of services/overcharging. Starting with the latter of the two, JT offers bundled services. You pay $X and you receive representation up until X court date. Before signing on with JT and hearing about this unorthodox approach to legal representation I thought to myself I would be saving money by doing business with a firm like this. Not the case by a long shot. Traditional hourly billing would have saved me a lot of money. As someone with no prior knowledge of legal proceedings, when I am told that this fee will get me to my first court date, I'm thinking this means I will be standing before the judge and have the opportunity to plead my case. This was not the case at all. This first "court date" ended up being a 5 min zoom meeting where I was not asked anything or permitted to speak. This all can be chalked up to me not understanding how this legal system works, I get that. I just wish JT would have explained that further prior to me signing a contract with them. Just seems shady to mislead someone in that manner and entice them to fork over a large some of money when they are in a desperate situation facing legal conflict. Wouldn't you rather have a more informed client in an effort to maintain expectations and a timeline? After separating myself from JT, I found representation that was able to provide superior service for a more affordable rate. JT wanted 5 times as much money for the same service as my new attorney. This was either highway robbery or they didn't actually want my case and therefore quoted super high rates to get me out their door. It worked. Which brings me to my next complaint, their lack of accountability and character. Shortly after signing on with JT, I had meetings with my assigned attorney, Rachel May, to discuss the parameters of my case. From this meeting she typed up a very thorough 10 page analysis of my case that detailed the facts, proposed outcomes, analysis of the legal issues, and JT's recommended course of legal action. It was truly a beneficial document. The only issue was that they failed to send me this document for 3 months. I only received it a few days before my initial hearing because I was on a call with my attorney as a pre-hearing review and she began to reference this document that she clearly thought I already had. On the call she was so sure that she sent it to me, but nothing was in my inbox. The document was dated 7/25/23 and I didn't receive it until end of October 2023. Clearly she or her paralegal had made a mistake and not sent it over, therefore not fulfilling the agreed upon scope of services in the contract. They of course did not want to admit that though. I pointed out via email that there must have been a mistake made and I point blank asked "Why didn't I receive this earlier? It seems very important to my case" to which I received no response. This would be a non-issue to me had my attorney just owned up to her mistake. Everyone makes small clerical errors, but to not have enough character or accountability to own up to your mistake is a huge red flag. Also on several occasions this attorney spoke in a degrading manner towards me over the phone. I would not recommend Johnson Turner Legal services to anyone looking for thoughtful, affordable legal representation.
