My review is long overdue, I have had the privilege of having Mr. Johnston represent me on multiple occasions, and each time he has never failed to deliver. He is dedicated, knowledgeable, gets right to work, doesn't waste time, and in my opinion is the best family law attorney. My cases would not have been successful if it were not for the help of Mr. Johnston and his staff. Thank you Mr. Johnston, Bobbi, and Tora.
For individuals in the Beaverton, Oregon area navigating the complexities of family law, finding a dedicated and knowledgeable attorney within the "Lawyers Near Me" category is paramount. Johnston Family Law, located at 1500 NW Bethany Blvd #340 in Beaverton, presents itself as a firm focused on these sensitive legal matters. To provide a comprehensive introduction for local users, it's essential to consider the firm's environment, services (as implied by the name), features highlighted in client feedback, and any available objective assessments of their professional conduct.
The office of Johnston Family Law, situated in a commercial building on NW Bethany Boulevard in Beaverton, likely provides a professional and private environment for clients to discuss their personal and often emotionally charged legal issues. Suite 340 suggests a dedicated office space within a larger complex, offering consultation rooms for meetings, administrative areas for staff, and workspaces for the attorneys. While the specific ambiance of the office is not detailed in the provided information, family law practices typically aim to create a supportive and confidential atmosphere to help clients feel comfortable during a difficult time.
Given the name "Johnston Family Law," it is reasonable to infer that the firm's primary area of practice is family law. This encompasses a range of legal issues related to domestic relations, including divorce (dissolution of marriage), child custody and support, spousal support (alimony), adoption, guardianship, modifications of existing orders, and other related matters. The positive client review explicitly mentions that Mr. Johnston represented the client on "multiple occasions" in family law matters, indicating a consistent focus on this legal field. This specialization suggests that the attorneys at Johnston Family Law possess the necessary expertise and experience to guide clients through the often intricate processes and emotional challenges associated with family law cases in Oregon.
Several key features of Johnston Family Law are highlighted in the provided client feedback. The most prominent feature, as expressed by a repeat client, is Mr. Johnston's dedication and knowledge. The client states that Mr. Johnston "never failed to deliver" and considers him the "best family law attorney." This strong endorsement suggests a high level of commitment to his clients and a deep understanding of family law principles and procedures. Furthermore, the review praises his efficiency, noting that he "gets right to work, doesn't waste time," which can be particularly valuable for clients seeking timely and effective legal solutions. The success attributed to Mr. Johnston and his staff in the client's cases underscores their effectiveness in achieving favorable outcomes.
However, it is crucial to also consider the information provided by the Oregon State Bar Client Assistance Office (CAO). This review, stemming from a complaint filed by a different client, offers an objective assessment of specific concerns raised about Mr. Johnston's service. While the CAO ultimately concluded that there was no sufficient basis to warrant a referral to the Disciplinary Counsel's Office for further review, the concerns raised are important to note. These concerns included an issue regarding the handling of payment for an appraisal and disagreements about Mr. Johnston's performance in court, specifically his lack of objection to leading questions. The CAO's response clarifies that a single error might constitute negligence (a potential malpractice claim) rather than a violation of professional conduct rules and that tactical decisions during trial are generally within the lawyer's professional judgment.
In terms of promotional information, the positive client review serves as a strong testimonial, directly recommending Mr. Johnston and his staff (Bobbi and Tora) for their dedication, knowledge, and effectiveness in family law cases. The client's repeated engagement with the firm and their assertion that their cases "would not have been successful" without their help acts as a powerful endorsement for potential clients seeking family law representation in the Beaverton area. This personal account highlights the positive impact the firm has had on at least one client's legal outcomes and overall experience.
Conversely, the Oregon State Bar's review, while not leading to disciplinary action, indirectly informs potential clients about areas where a former client had concerns regarding the quality of service. While the CAO did not find misconduct, the issues raised about the appraisal payment and courtroom tactics might prompt prospective clients to inquire about the firm's communication practices, billing transparency, and approach to trial strategy during their initial consultations.
For local users in the Beaverton area searching within the "Lawyers Near Me" category for a family law attorney, Johnston Family Law, located on NW Bethany Boulevard, presents a firm with at least one highly satisfied client who praises their dedication and effectiveness. However, the objective review from the Oregon State Bar, stemming from a different client's complaint, indicates that there have been concerns raised about specific aspects of the firm's service. Potential clients should consider both the positive testimonial and the issues addressed by the CAO when making their decision. Contacting Johnston Family Law at (503) 226-7986 or +1 503-226-7986 would allow prospective clients to discuss their specific family law needs, understand the firm's approach to representation, and address any questions they may have based on the available information. A direct consultation can help individuals determine if Johnston Family Law is the right fit for their unique circumstances.

Sep 12, 2018 · Zachary J. FrostOSB comment about his service The Oregon State Bar Client Assistance Office (CAO) has received your additional submissions to your complaint about the conduct of Ronald Johnston, a lawyer who represented you in domestic relations proceedings. The CAO is responsible for reviewing concerns regarding Oregon lawyers. Under Oregon State Bar Rule of Procedure 2.5 and as resources permit, CAO determines the manner and extent of review required to decide whether there is sufficient evidence to support a reasonable belief that lawyer misconduct may have occurred warranting a referral to Oregon State Bar Disciplinary Counsel. Misconduct means a violation of the rules of professional conduct and applicable statutes that govern lawyer conduct in Oregon. We do not make inquiry into the quality of a lawyer’s services. We also do not review the reasonableness of fees charged unless there is credible evidence that the fees are clearly excessive. You have expressed three concerns as discussed below. We conclude that there is no sufficient basis to warrant a referral to Disciplinary Counsel’s Office for further review. Your first concern is that Mr. Johnston failed to properly handle the issue of payment for an appraisal. Opposing counsel proposed that you pre-pay the full cost of the appraisal, and this would be equalized down the road. Apparently the issue was never properly revisited by Mr. Johnston, so you were not reimbursed. This is an issue concerning the quality of services, rather than misconduct. While both our competence and diligence rules touch on a lawyer’s errors or failure to attend to a legal matter, neither rule is violated by a single mistake. A single error, however, may constitute negligence, and a lawyer whose legal services fall below the standard of care in the community may be liable to the client for legal malpractice. If you feel you have a legal malpractice claim against Mr. Johnston, you may want to contact another attorney to explore what remedies are available to you. You or your new attorney may also want to contact the Professional Liability Fund, PO Box 231600, Tigard, OR 97281-1600. The PLF provides professional liability (malpractice) coverage to most attorneys in private practice in Oregon. However, I do not find this issue sufficient to raise questions as to misconduct under our rules. Your second concern relates to Mr. Johnston’s performance in court. You have noted that the court allowed opposing counsel to lead her witness in questioning, and Mr. Johnston did not object. This does not offend our rules, because matters such as what objections to make during trial are for the lawyer to decide based on the exercise of his professional judgment. The bar will not second-guess a lawyer’s tactical decisions unless those decisions reflect an absence or suspension of reasonable professional skill and judgment. That Mr. Johnston did not make objections you felt were warranted, or otherwise proceeded in a manner with which you disagree, does not mean that he provided incompetent representation or violated any other ethical obligation to you.
