I really had an awful experience with one Mr. Morris Selevan. I don’t know his relationship to Benjamin Eckman, but he has his name on a business card. He also received $500 from myself and my husband for consultation fee in which he quoted to us that we would have to give them anywhere from six to $10,000 for him to start a guardianship process and additional $20,000 to complete the Medicaid application for my mother-in-law who has Dementia, Alzheimer’s aphasia she has chronic renal failure as she also has a pacemaker and is at Cranford rehabilitation center, I thought we were being shaken down and I thought we were being handled and taken advantage of on our most vulnerable time. I have been informed by several professional individuals in the legal fields that minimum fee is required upfront and any in all legal fees would be part of the Medicaid spend down from my mother-in-law is this state so I don’t understand why this man after we gave him $500 For 15 minutes of filling out paperwork that he needs another $10,000 to commence a guardianship procedure. This is criminal and very unethical run and go the other way if you see Morris Sullivan.

The professional demeanor highlighted in the review further points to a well-run and reputable firm.
The services offered by the Law Firm of Benjamin Eckman, based on the available reviews, primarily encompass estate planning and elder care law. Estate planning involves the process of arranging for the management and distribution of an individual's assets after their death or in the event of incapacitation. Elder care law focuses on the legal needs of older adults, which can include guardianship proceedings, Medicaid planning, long-term care arrangements, and protection against elder abuse and exploitation.
One of the key features of the Law Firm of Benjamin Eckman, particularly attributed to Benjamin Eckman himself, is his compassionate, knowledgeable, and professional approach. However, it is crucial to address a negative review concerning an individual named Mr. Morris Selevan, who is mentioned as having his name on a business card associated with Benjamin Eckman's firm. This reviewer recounts a deeply concerning experience involving a consultation for guardianship and Medicaid application for their mother-in-law. The review alleges potentially unethical billing practices and a feeling of being taken advantage of during a vulnerable time. The significant fees quoted upfront for commencing the guardianship process and completing the Medicaid application raised alarm bells for the client, especially in light of information received from other legal professionals suggesting a different standard for Medicaid spend-down procedures. This negative feedback, while directed at Mr. Selevan, may raise concerns for potential clients about the firm's overall billing practices and the individuals associated with it.
Given the stark contrast between the positive review praising Benjamin Eckman and the negative review detailing a troubling experience with Mr. Selevan, it is essential for potential clients to exercise due diligence. While Benjamin Eckman is lauded for his compassion and expertise in estate planning and elder care, the allegations against Mr. Selevan warrant careful consideration. It is unclear from the reviews the exact professional relationship between Mr. Eckman and Mr. Selevan, but the association through business cards suggests some form of affiliation.
Features of working directly with Benjamin Eckman appear to include a comfortable and reassuring environment, deep knowledge of estate planning and elder care law, and a compassionate and professional demeanor. His decades of experience are also a significant asset. However, potential clients should inquire about all individuals who may be involved in their case and ensure they are comfortable with the firm's billing practices and the professionals handling their legal matters.
No specific promotional information is provided in the reviews. However, the strong recommendation for Mr. Eckman's services, particularly for estate planning and elder care needs, serves as a powerful testament to the value he provides. Potential clients seeking expertise and compassion in these areas may find the positive review compelling enough to inquire further about his services and fees.
For local users in Union, NJ, searching for a "Lawyers Near Me" specializing in estate planning and elder care, the Law Firm of Benjamin Eckman presents a complex picture based on the available reviews. While Benjamin Eckman himself is highly recommended for his knowledge and compassionate approach, the negative experience with Mr. Selevan is a serious point of concern. In conclusion, the Law Firm of Benjamin Eckman, located in Union, NJ, appears to offer expertise in estate planning and elder care law, with Benjamin Eckman receiving high praise for his compassion, knowledge, and professionalism.
