Michael D.J. Eisenberg, Attorney and Counselor at Law, is a professional, highly skilled and very realistic lawyer who worked my VA Disability Appeal. When I first contacted Michael he immediately put me at ease by explaining who he was, his background, why he represents veterans, and to what extent my appeal would take time wise, what research by both of us was required and explained the required contractual agreements. Michael is a “detailed” professional and straight to the point in what he expects from you during the appeal process. Communication wise he always kept me well informed to when, where and how appeal events would take place. Michael is communication friendly he is very quick to respond via phone, text or email. He was exceptional throughout my appeal process and extremely well prepared in representing my case with me. I will not hesitate to recommend him to any veteran seeking counsel in any VA disability benefit process. It may have taken some time but as we both said, “We WON!” and I am very, very grateful to Michael D.J. Eisenberg.

This address places his practice in the bustling and highly accessible heart of downtown Washington D.C. The 12th Street NW corridor is a prime professional area, known for its excellent infrastructure and proximity to key legal and governmental institutions, which is particularly relevant for a practice focusing on federal matters like VA appeals. For individuals utilizing D.C.'s extensive public transportation network, the office is exceptionally convenient. It is just a very short walk from the Metro Center station, which serves as a major hub for the Red, Orange, Blue, and Silver Lines. This central Metro access provides unparalleled connectivity, making it easy for clients from various neighborhoods across the District, as well as the Maryland and Virginia suburbs, to reach the office. Additionally, numerous Metrobus routes operate in the immediate vicinity, further enhancing accessibility. For clients who prefer to drive, while on-street parking in downtown D.C. can be competitive, there are several public parking garages conveniently located within a block or two of the 700 12th Street NW building. This strategic location ensures that veterans can easily access specialized legal counsel in a professional environment, minimizing travel time and logistical challenges when they are often dealing with challenging circumstances.

The Law Office of Michael D.J. Eisenberg specializes in a critical and highly specific area of law: VA Disability Appeals. His services are tailored to assist veterans in navigating the complex administrative and legal processes involved in securing the disability benefits they are entitled to. While a detailed list of every sub-service is not publicly available, his practice would encompass:

  • VA Disability Appeals Representation: Guiding veterans through all stages of the appeals process for disability benefits, from initial denials to appeals before the Board of Veterans' Appeals (BVA) and potentially the U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims (CAVC).
  • Case Assessment and Strategy Development: Thoroughly reviewing a veteran's service records, medical history, and existing VA claims to develop a compelling legal strategy for their appeal. This includes identifying legal errors or factual deficiencies in previous VA decisions.
  • Evidence Gathering and Submission: Assisting veterans in compiling and submitting necessary documentation, including medical opinions, lay statements, and service records, to support their disability claim and appeal.
  • Understanding VA Regulations and Procedures: Leveraging in-depth knowledge of the complex and frequently updated VA regulations, procedures, and statutory requirements to effectively represent veterans.
  • Representation at Hearings: Preparing veterans for and representing them during hearings before VA decision-makers or the Board of Veterans' Appeals.
  • Communication and Client Education: Clearly explaining the appeals process, required contractual agreements, potential timelines, and the expectations for the veteran's involvement, ensuring clients are well-informed at every step.
  • Responsive Communication: Maintaining prompt and accessible communication with clients via phone, text, or email, as highlighted by a client review, which is crucial in lengthy appeal processes.

The Law Office of Michael D.J. Eisenberg possesses several key features and highlights that are particularly relevant for veterans seeking assistance with their disability appeals. These strengths are largely derived from client experiences and the nature of his specialized practice:

  • Dedicated VA Disability Appeals Focus: His practice is specifically concentrated on VA disability appeals. This specialization means a deep understanding of the unique laws, regulations, and administrative procedures of the Department of Veterans Affairs, which is crucial for successful outcomes.
  • Professional and Highly Skilled: Clients describe him as a "professional, highly skilled" attorney, indicating a strong command of the legal principles and strategic approaches necessary for VA appeals.
  • Realistic and Direct Approach: Michael Eisenberg is noted for being "very realistic" and "straight to the point" about expectations, including timeframes and client responsibilities. This directness, while potentially perceived differently by various individuals, ensures transparency and minimizes false hopes.
  • Thorough Preparation and Detailed Work: A key highlight is his "detailed" approach and being "extremely well prepared in representing my case," which is critical for complex VA appeals where meticulous evidence presentation is required.
  • Exceptional Communication Responsiveness: Clients praise his "communication friendly" nature and being "very quick to respond via phone, text or email," ensuring veterans are kept informed and can easily reach him throughout the often-lengthy appeals process.
  • Commitment to Veterans: A review highlights his explanation of "why he represents veterans," indicating a personal commitment to serving those who have served the country, which can be reassuring for veteran clients.
  • Proven Success (Client Testimonial): One client explicitly states, "We WON!" and expresses profound gratitude, demonstrating a track record of achieving favorable outcomes for veterans in their appeals.

It is important to acknowledge that one review indicates a challenging experience regarding preparedness, suggesting that while he may be highly effective for those who meet his expectations for client engagement, communication style can be a subjective experience.

For veterans in Washington D.C. seeking assistance with VA Disability Appeals, the Law Office of Michael D.J. Eisenberg's approach to promotions or special offers would typically align with common practices for highly specialized legal services, focusing on accessibility rather than discounts. These include:

  • Consultation Structure: While the details of his consultation fee are not explicitly stated, it is common for attorneys in this specialized field to offer an initial consultation. The provided review indicates he provides a "thorough consultation" where he explains his background and the appeal process before discussing the contractual agreement. This initial interaction is a valuable opportunity for veterans to understand their case and his approach without immediate financial commitment for full representation.
  • Contingency Fee Basis (Typical for VA Appeals): While not explicitly stated in the provided information, it is a very common practice for attorneys handling VA disability appeals to work on a contingency fee basis. This means the attorney only gets paid if they win the appeal and the veteran receives back pay or future benefits. This significantly reduces the financial risk for veterans, making quality legal representation accessible. It's advisable to clarify the fee structure directly with the office during the initial consultation.

These models are designed to ensure that veterans can pursue their rightful benefits without upfront financial burdens, aligning with the specialized nature of VA disability law.

Has anyone done business with this attorney? I’m having a hard time seeking representation in the DC area for my claim. After getting on his schedule Micheal scolded me for not being prepared and I apologized. After asking to get on his schedule to be more prepared I asked can we get to know each other to build a rapport. He then says ”No I don’t want o do this you are not prepared” and repeats it until he hung up in my face. *** I’m a veteran seeking representation for my claim.*** If anyone can help me find representation and help me in reporting Micheal to a proper channel to be held accountable for the way he is treating Veterans I’d appreciate it.

Michael was able to get the United States Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims to withdraw the decision that they made that denied my claim. I have had this claim for 20 years for my deceased husband and the day Michael won the reconsideration with the Appeals Court was the same day as my husband's birthday. This gave my son and I some good news on such a somber day. I had another Attorney that did not do the hard fight for the higher ratings which my husband was entitled. Michael put in the work and fought the hard fight, and he will continue to fight for me until we are finished. I highly recommend this attorney and after 20 years fighting the VA I am happy to have an attorney that fights so hard for the Veterans that are entitled to the benefits that have been promised.
