I would warn anybody who is interested in hiring Mr. Matz as their attorney for being their Family Attorney or Estate Planning. With my experience dealing with Mr. Matz, he is unprofessional and has a major attitude problem. Mr. Matz was my Dad’s attorney for 4 years. In the beginning when my dad had request to change his will or needed advice, Mr. Matz was always available. Unfortunately things changed when 2 years ago my brother and sister started taking advantage of my dad. I emailed and called and left various message letting him know that my Dad wanted to speak to him to see if he could speak to my brother and sister and warn them of the consequences if they continued to take advantage of him. Mr. Matz ignored my dad and when I called and emailed him about my dad’s request, he called my Dad and criticized me saying that I was the problem and even threatened to report me to the department of ageing. Another concern was when my dad wanted to make changes to his will to remove family members that were taking advantage of him, Mr. Matz refused to do it, and ignore my Dad with this request for 2 years. When we questioned him on his actions, he always responded with an attitude and unprofessional manner. He claimed that he was always busy but that’s no excuse in someone’s time of need. He eventually made a surprise visit to my dad and told him that he no longer was going to work with him since he felt that my dad was asking for a lot. This was ridiculous since this was not the case. Mr. Matz just did not want to do his job again displaying is unprofessionalism. No one should go through what my family went through. You can do better than this attorney.

The reviews specifically mention experiences related to will changes and estate settlement. Potential legal services offered by this office might include:

  • Estate Planning: This is explicitly mentioned as an area the reviewer initially sought assistance with for their father, including will preparation and modifications.
  • Estate Settlement: Another review indicates an attempt to engage Mr. Matz for assistance with settling a deceased mother's estate.

It is important to note that the information available is primarily negative feedback from two clients. To obtain a comprehensive understanding of the specific legal services currently offered by the Law Office of William W. Matz, Jr., it is strongly recommended to contact their office directly and inquire about their areas of practice.

Features that clients typically seek in a legal practice include professionalism, clear communication, responsiveness, empathy, and a commitment to their clients' needs. However, the provided reviews raise significant concerns regarding these aspects in the context of the Law Office of William W. Matz, Jr.

It is crucial for users of the "Lawyers Near Me" platform to carefully consider all available information, including client feedback, when making a decision about legal representation. The provided reviews for the Law Office of William W. Matz, Jr. are overwhelmingly negative and highlight serious concerns about the attorney's conduct and professionalism.

One detailed review recounts a deeply negative experience where the client alleges unprofessional behavior, a "major attitude problem," and a lack of responsiveness from Mr. Matz. The reviewer claims that while Mr. Matz was initially available for their father's estate planning needs, his behavior changed when concerns arose about potential elder abuse by other family members. The reviewer alleges that Mr. Matz ignored their father's requests for assistance in addressing this issue, criticized the concerned family member, threatened to report them to the department of ageing, and refused to make changes to the will to remove those allegedly taking advantage of the father. The review further states that Mr. Matz was unresponsive, cited being "always busy" as an excuse, made a surprise visit to terminate his services, and was perceived as simply not wanting to do his job. The reviewer strongly warns others against hiring Mr. Matz for family law or estate planning matters.

The second review details a similarly negative experience where an out-of-state client attempted to hire Mr. Matz for estate settlement. After an initial phone consultation and scheduling an appointment, the client emailed with time-sensitive questions, offering to pay for the attorney's time or send a retainer. The client reports that these emails were ignored. Upon contacting the office, the client was allegedly met with an excoriating "dust off" email from Mr. Matz for reaching out before the scheduled appointment, effectively refusing to provide services. The reviewer expresses shock at this unprofessional behavior, particularly given their grieving state and urgent need for legal support. They describe Mr. Matz's actions as "way beyond LOW" and indicative of a lack of empathy and professionalism, comparing it unfavorably to the expected conduct of other professionals. This reviewer also explicitly states they would not recommend Mr. Matz.

Given these strongly negative and detailed accounts from two different clients in different legal contexts (estate planning and estate settlement), local users in Bethlehem, PA, should exercise extreme caution when considering the Law Office of William W. Matz, Jr. The feedback raises serious concerns about the attorney's professionalism, communication, responsiveness, and overall client service.

While promotional information is absent and the available feedback is entirely negative, it is still important for local users to be aware of this information when searching for legal representation through platforms like "Lawyers Near Me." The reviews serve as a stark warning about potential negative experiences.

My mother recently died and I needed an attorney to help settle the estate. Her accountant recommended this guy. Since I knew no other estate lawyers in the Lehigh Valley, I thought I'd give him a shot. I had an initial telephone consult with him and we scheduled an appointment for the end of the month. I arranged to have pertinent documents delivered to his office prior to our meeting. Since the meeting wasn't for a few weeks (which was not opportune however I live out of state), I reached out to him via email with several questions. I even offered to pay him for his time to answer two questions each of which only involved a one word answer. Both questions also required timely responses --not something that could wait until the end of the month. In my email I both offered to pay him for his time OR offered to send a retainer both of which are beyond reasonable and fair. I deal with a lot of attorneys. When I hadn't heard from him I called his office and spoke to his secretary asking her if she could please ask him to reply to my emails. He had just been ignoring them. Later that day I got a "dust off" email from him excoriating me for reaching out to his office prior to my appointment and basically kicking me to the curb. I replied with sincere apologies for being so brazen and asked him to reconsider. I also mentioned that one return email to me asking me to wait until our meeting would have been the proper thing to do. I would then have never fired off any more questions. I really don't know how to react to radio silence from a professional I am employing. He refused to help. Truth is, I am grieving a number of severe losses at the moment and I can barely think straight. Scolding and dumping a "client" who is in desperate need of support goes way beyond LOW in my opinion and is very unprofessional. It's like a psychiatrist scolding a client for being psychotic. Ridiculous. Done and dusted with you, Esquire. You should be ashamed of yourself and your behavior.

Mr. Matz, who was my mother's attorney and prepared her will, was my attorney as executor for my mother's estate. He did an excellent job. My wife and I are using Bill for our will. I don't have any complaints whatsoever, but I could see where some people who aren't patient could feel he is a tad slow response wise..

Bill was invaluable in helping us navigate through the legalities of a parent's estate upon their death. We definitely trust him in handling our personal affairs.

I have worked with Attorney Matz over the last 10 plus years. He is knowledgeable, compassionate and a pleasure to work with. I would highly recommend his services.
