Attorney Kenneth S. Harter has been practicing law since 1979, bringing a wealth of experience to his diverse practice areas. The Law Offices of Kenneth S Harter primarily offers legal counsel and representation in the following fields:

  • Civil Litigation
  • Family Law
  • Criminal Defense

This broad range of services indicates an ability to address a wide array of legal concerns for clients in the Frisco and broader Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. Mr. Harter's background also includes experience in business and banking, which can provide a unique perspective in financial and business-related legal matters.

One client provided a highly positive testimonial, describing Ken Harter as "an amazing attorney very knowledgeable, professional and easy to talk to." This client particularly emphasized Mr. Harter's tenacity and commitment to fighting for his clients: "If you want somebody who is going to fight hard, then he is the guy for you! He doesn’t give up easily and if he encounters an obstacle he will figure out another legal ways to make it happen." This review highlights Mr. Harter's proactive and persistent approach to overcoming legal hurdles. The client further stated that Mr. Harter "was of great assistance to me and my family," and they "wouldn’t hesitate to use his services again and again," strongly recommending him to others, suggesting that one "need to have him as part of your legal team!" This feedback points to a lawyer who is a dedicated advocate and a valuable asset to his clients.

However, it is important to present an objective view, and another review offers a starkly contrasting perspective. This client, Frances Damon Briggs, raised serious concerns regarding a Qualified Domestic Relations Order (QDRO) prepared by Attorney Harter after 27 years of marriage. She alleged that the QDRO prevented her from receiving any payment from her former husband's plan, despite what she believed were favorable terms previously secured by another attorney who had passed away. Ms. Briggs meticulously detailed legal aspects, referencing Section 414(p) of the IRC and early retirement age provisions, stating that the QDRO prepared by Mr. Harter "did not include the federal QDRO requirements." She expressed severe consequences, including becoming "homeless," and questioned what assets Mr. Harter "got me." She also criticized his character in responding to reviews, urging him to "humble yourself, vow to do better, then do better" and "Be a person of Integrity." This review highlights a significant and unresolved dispute regarding the outcome and handling of a specific, complex financial aspect of a divorce case.

The presence of such a detailed negative review alongside a positive one underscores the importance for prospective clients to conduct thorough due diligence and potentially seek multiple consultations before making a decision. It suggests that while Mr. Harter is seen by some as a tenacious fighter, there may be instances where clients perceive a significant shortfall in the final outcome or the execution of legal documents, particularly in intricate areas like QDROs.

While specific details about the physical environment of the Law Offices of Kenneth S Harter are not extensively available online, its location in a suite at 6160 Warren Pkwy in Frisco suggests a professional office setting within a commercial building. Law offices are typically designed to provide a confidential and professional atmosphere for client consultations. The emphasis on a "personal approach" where Mr. Harter "meet with you in person to go over your case" suggests that the office facilitates direct and in-depth discussions. A professional environment is expected to support organized legal processes and maintain client privacy.

  • Professionalism and Knowledge: Positive feedback highlights his professionalism and knowledge in legal matters.

However, it is also important to consider the feedback regarding:

  • Accuracy of Complex Financial Documents: The negative review specifically raises concerns about the accuracy and completeness of a QDRO, implying potential issues in handling highly technical financial aspects of divorce.
  • Client Satisfaction with Outcomes: While one client was "extremely happy," another expressed severe dissatisfaction with the financial outcome of their case, suggesting that outcomes can vary and may not always meet client expectations, particularly in complex matters.

Regarding promotional information, the firm's presence on the "Lawyers Near Me" platform, along with contact information, serves as a primary point of outreach. Their website likely provides details on their practice areas and attorney background, inviting potential clients to inquire further. The positive testimonial acts as a strong word-of-mouth endorsement, highlighting Mr. Harter's dedicated service and fighting spirit. However, the presence of critical feedback also forms part of the public perception and potential promotional landscape, necessitating transparency for prospective clients. The firm offers free phone consultations, which is a common promotional tool to encourage initial contact.

In conclusion, the Law Offices of Kenneth S Harter in Frisco, TX, offers legal services across various areas, including civil litigation, family law, criminal defense, and financial law. Attorney Kenneth S. Harter brings over four decades of experience to his practice and is described by some clients as a knowledgeable, professional, and persistent advocate who fights hard for their interests. However, potential clients should be aware of contrasting experiences, particularly regarding the handling of complex financial documents like QDROs and overall client satisfaction with case outcomes. For those seeking a "Lawyer Near Me" who demonstrates a tenacious approach to legal problems, a direct consultation to discuss specific concerns and verify expectations is recommended, especially for cases involving intricate financial details.

I am Frances Damon Briggs; Attorney Harter, every single word of my review regarding you is true, and you know it. You stated that you got me everything I wanted and more. Name at least One (1) asset from my 27 years of marriage that you "got me"? ... You can't. You did no one a favor. You even gave my former husband assets which Attorney Frank Shor had gotten me, as my marital property before he passed away. It was not the terms of the Plan which prevented my payment under your prepared QDRO. It was the terms of your prepared QDRO which prevented my payment. That tax-qualified Plan is subject to Section 414(p) of the IRC, which governs the ASSIGNMENT of marital pension assets in a dissolution of marriage. According to the "terms of the Plan", the early retirement age is age 55. My former husband was 57. According to the "terms of the Plan" benefit payments to a former spouse under a QDRO (me), begin the earliest date that the Participant is eligible to receive a payment from the Plan (if permitted by the QDRO) (Even if he had not received a payment). Section 414(p)(4)(A) of the IRC provides for distribution to the Alternate Payee as soon as the Participant reaches the "Earliest Retirement Age" under the Plan (again, which is age 55). Further, according the terms of your prepared QDRO I would have never received a penny because, you did not include the federal QDRO requirements. How could an attorney with over 38 yrs of practice, forget to include the federal requirements of a QDRO? Sir, the money from my former husband's Plan is all that I was to have (after you gave my other awarded assets to my former husband) I have been homeless, I have had to sleep in my vehicle, in neighbors homes and different family members, from couch to couch ... etc, all because you would not have the Order amended. I walked away with not even a Penny. So, I ask you again "What did you get me?" As far as paying you ... with what and for what? Are you saying that you did not get paid at all??... Sir, even your response to your reviews shows your true character. Instead of lying and becoming combative humble yourself, vow to do better, then do better. I understand that God is in control. I did not write the review out of some malicious intent. You are in a position to help people or hurt them. Be a person of Integrity. You left my son and I in a disaster and although my trust is in God, people need to know of your ethics. F.Y.I. I have not been "blowing up" your inbox. Maybe it's your conscience. ~Regards
