I don't ever leave reviews, but I feel obligated to warn others about the abysmal experience I had with Kimberly. From the very beginning, her communication was non-existent. Over the nearly two years it took to finalize my divorce, she only initiated contact with me a handful of times. In the beginning, I was consistently calling her for updates, trying to understand legal decisions, and seeking insight into the process. But I was constantly left in the dark. What made it even worse was that I was billed for each and every phone call, whether it lasted two minutes or 30 minutes, and yet I was still left with no answers after each conversation. Same goes for all email communication. I’d ask for clarification, and all I got was vague responses or promises that were never fulfilled. Eventually, I stopped calling her, assuming she would at least reach out with updates or check in with me—and NOTHING. On top of her lack of communication, she failed to explain any legal jargon. I’m no expert in family law, but that’s exactly why I hired her—to guide me through the process and help me understand what was happening. Instead, I was left feeling overwhelmed and completely confused. Her office staff was just as rude, unhelpful, and unknowledgeable. As if that wasn’t enough, she filed paperwork incorrectly, and the court didn’t approve my request to return to my former last name. I had to go through the whole process again, refile with the court, and pay additional fees just to get this basic request approved after my divorce was finalized. That’s money I shouldn’t have had to spend, all because of her incompetence. To top it all off, she didn’t follow through on almost every promise she made at our initial consultation. Nothing she said would happen, happened. I was promised frequent updates and expert guidance, and instead, I received silence, negligence, and a completely frustrating experience. If you're looking for a lawyer who will actually work for you, explain things in plain terms, keep you informed, and ensure your paperwork is filed correctly, look elsewhere. Kimberly Prendergast was a massive disappointment and left me feeling helpless throughout the entire process. Save your money, time, and mental health, and find someone competent who actually does their job!

  • Child Custody and Visitation: Determining the legal and physical care arrangements for children, as well as visitation schedules for non-custodial parents.

  • Paternity Actions: Establishing the legal fatherhood of a child.
  • Modifications of Existing Orders: Seeking changes to prior court orders related to child custody, support, or spousal support.

However, it is crucial for potential clients to carefully consider the experiences shared by previous clients of the Law Offices of Kimberly Prendergast, as the available reviews present significant concerns regarding the firm's service and client communication.

One extensive review details a severely negative experience over a nearly two-year divorce process. The reviewer alleges "non-existent" communication, with the attorney initiating contact only a few times. The client reports consistently having to chase for updates, seek clarification on legal decisions, and attempt to understand the process, often being "left in the dark." Furthermore, the reviewer claims to have been billed for every phone call and email, regardless of duration or whether their questions were adequately answered. This individual eventually stopped trying to contact the attorney due to the lack of response.

Adding to these concerns, the same reviewer alleges a failure to explain legal jargon, leaving them feeling "overwhelmed and completely confused." The reviewer also describes the office staff as "rude, unhelpful, and unknowledgeable." A significant error cited was the incorrect filing of paperwork, leading to the court's initial rejection of the client's request to return to their former last name, necessitating refiling and additional fees. The reviewer concludes by stating that almost every promise made during the initial consultation was broken, recommending others to "look elsewhere" to save money, time, and mental health.

Another review from a small business owner expresses disappointment in the legal services provided to their husband. This reviewer states that their husband was treated "more like a number than a client." Specific issues raised include being quoted additional costs for a seemingly simple administrative task (verifying opposing party income) and the attorney forwarding the reviewer's income information to the opposing party without explicit consent. Despite the husband's compliance with requests and payments, the reviewer notes that hearing outcomes resulted in increased financial obligations without adequate pre-hearing preparation or negotiation. This reviewer advises caution, particularly for fathers or male clients, suggesting the firm "may not be the right fit."

Given these critical reviews highlighting significant issues with communication, client service, competence in filing paperwork, and advocacy, potential clients should approach the Law Offices of Kimberly Prendergast with extreme caution. While the firm is listed as a local family law option in Redlands, the reported experiences raise serious concerns about the level of representation and client care provided.

In light of this information, it is strongly recommended that individuals seeking family law assistance in Redlands thoroughly research other attorneys in the "Lawyers Near Me" category and consider the following steps when choosing legal representation:

  • Seek consultations with multiple family law attorneys in the Redlands area.
  • Inquire about each attorney's communication practices and expected response times.
  • Ask for detailed explanations of the legal processes involved in your specific case.
  • Discuss the attorney's fees and billing practices upfront, including how phone calls and emails are handled.
  • Request information about the attorney's experience with cases similar to yours and their track record.
  • Check for any disciplinary records or complaints filed against the attorney with the State Bar of California.
  • Seek references or ask for testimonials from other clients (keeping in mind the negative reviews already present).

The environment of the Law Offices of Kimberly Prendergast, based on the negative reviews, is described as having rude, unhelpful, and unknowledgeable staff. This suggests a potentially unwelcoming and unsupportive atmosphere for clients navigating stressful legal situations. The alleged lack of communication from the attorney further contributes to a negative perception of the firm's client care.

Features that might typically be promoted by a law office, such as experienced representation and dedicated client service, are directly contradicted by the provided reviews for the Law Offices of Kimberly Prendergast. Therefore, it would be imprudent to highlight any positive features based solely on the available customer feedback.

Given the serious nature of the allegations in the reviews, including lack of communication, billing issues, errors in filing, and inadequate representation, there is no basis for providing any positive promotional information for the Law Offices of Kimberly Prendergast based on the current data. Instead, the focus must be on objectively presenting the available information, which overwhelmingly points to significant client dissatisfaction.

In conclusion, while the Law Offices of Kimberly Prendergast is listed as a local family law attorney in Redlands, CA, within the "Lawyers Near Me" category, the provided customer reviews paint a concerning picture of the firm's communication, client service, and competence. Potential clients are strongly advised to exercise extreme caution and conduct thorough due diligence, including seeking consultations with other family law attorneys in the Redlands area, before considering engaging the services of this law office.

As a small business owner myself, I’ve never felt compelled to leave a review — but I’m truly disappointed in the legal services Kimberly provided to my husband. Throughout the process, he was treated more like a number than a client. Before one of his hearings, we requested that the opposing party's income be verified through their employer — a basic administrative task that could’ve been handled via email. Instead, we were told it would require additional time and cost. Additionally, although I submitted my income directly to the attorney, she then forwarded it to the opposing party without my consent. She asked if I was okay with it, and because I didn’t respond, she went ahead anyway — which I find entirely inappropriate. Despite my husband being consistently compliant — never missing a payment and providing everything requested — the outcome of each hearing has resulted in increased financial obligations, most recently by $700/month. There was no pre-hearing call, no meaningful preparation, and no real negotiation on his behalf. In our experience, this representation did not advocate for his best interests. If you are seeking an attorney who will fight for you, especially as a father or male client, I would strongly advise caution. This firm may not be the right fit.

We hired Ms Prendergast as a lawyer to help us on a civil restraining order. We debated on hiring a lawyer since we felt we had a solid case, but thank goodness we did! The other party had representation as well, and a little rough with the questions, but Ma Prendergast helped us before on what to expect, and she handled everything for us. I didn't think I would get so flustered in court, but I'm glad we had the support of Ms Prendergast to help guide us along. We won our restraining order and we are so thankful for her help, professionalism, and guidance. I highly recommend.
