I strongly advise caution before hiring attorney Leejanice Toback. I hired Ms. Toback to represent me in a special education due process matter for my child, trusting her with critical deadlines and legal obligations. Unfortunately, my experience was deeply disappointing. She failed to communicate effectively, missed key filing deadlines (including the required prehearing conference statement), and left me without crucial access information for important proceedings — despite my repeated emails and calls. Without providing meaningful notice, she filed a motion to withdraw just two weeks before the due process hearing, leaving me unrepresented and scrambling to protect my child’s educational rights. Even after withdrawing, she failed to provide my complete client file, draft documents, or a clear accounting of the $1,000 flat-fee retainer I paid her. If you are a parent or family depending on legal help for a vulnerable child, I urge you to think twice before trusting this attorney. My experience was marked by poor communication, unprofessional conduct, and ultimately harm to my family’s legal position.

May 05, 2025 · Alberto CamachoLeejanice has represented our son for over 10 years. As a mom of a spectrum child herself, she brings firsthand knowledge, empathy and drive to her work as a top notch special ed lawyer. She is a shrewd advocate and will fight for your child’s legal right to services as she would for her own kid. She expertly knows the ins and outs of the special ed system and tirelessly does what it takes to make sure your child receives the accommodations, services and/or placement he or she needs in order to access a free and appropriate education. Her representation has literally saved our son and our family as he is now in a school where he is able to achieve his potential and look forward to his best possible adult life. The road from diagnosis to services is not an easy one. Leejanice is very upfront and honest about what special ed services can and cannot do for your child. However, she listens and makes sure your voice is heard and your child’s best interest is served in a system that often overlooks their population. She’s not only an amazing lawyer, she’s also a fellow parent, a friend who gets it and understands firsthand what it’s like to navigate this road for our extraordinary children. Having Leejanice on your team is one of the best decisions you can make for your child’s education and future. You are very fortunate to have found her.
Aug 12, 2020 · Michele ParrishDo not contact this woman for help with anything! I contacted Lee Janice for help regarding our son's special education needs in suing the Redlands Unified School District after he had been moved around from placement to placement without receiving the adequate education he should have gotten. She went as far as being involved in some of his IEP meetings and he was supposed to have been awarded $12,000 and a laptop computer, but never received any of that. He also sustained a broken wrist that the Devereux school in Florida had sent him to a doctor for. The doctor there improperly casted his arm and later wouldn't do anything to correct the problem. Mrs. Janice put up a big front with on the phone and in video meetings with the school district ever time but that's all it turned out to be, as she later stopped answering any calls and emails from both my son's mother and myself, which led up to no justified outcome for our son, so if you need professional legal help regarding your child, do not contact her! She's all bark and no bite and will leave you high and dry without any help or explanation for her actions whatsoever.
Jan 22, 2024 · Jeff MannI contacted Janice for a bullying and assault issue at school with my daughter. Janice mislead me and made me thought she was helping my daughter, only to be dropped as a client once the school said my daughter was eligible for special education services. I thought the testing was part of the process, not the end goal for my daughter- or else I never would have agreed to this. Terrible experience for my daughter and family! The bullying and harassment is still continuing a year later and Janice claims she helped my daughter by getting her special education services, which I have denied. To think someone knowing what my daughter was going through, thought special education services is or was going to help my daughter with the constant bullying and assaults is mind blowing. To be mislead and then told not to blow another attack on my daughter out of proportion makes a lot more sense now.
