I had several representation from Legal Aid Society, never did I had a negative experience with them. Sometimes we need to check us before we past judgement onto others, cuz every time you point a finger at someone theres 3 coming back to you. today as I was reading the reviews for this Legal Aid Society, and I don't find the negative reviews to be helpful at all. I had a very positive experience when dealing with everyone there. Yes there are a lot of people that need help that go to this place. So maybe the secretaries are abrupt and quick to transfer you to the attorneys voicemail. Christopher Pezzullo, my attorney was very helpful there was a little communication, but it wasn't necessary. He handled my case completely professionally. He talked to me when I needed to hear from him. People have to remember they are not the only one in a long list of others in need of these lawyers assistance. I am sure the staff is overwhelmed and doing the best that they can. Those that can't understand this are just selfish and ignorant. You are not the only person with an issue that needs to be dealt with in court. Maybe give that some consideration next time you're writing a negative review, remember treat people the way you want to be treated. Sincerely Roberto Sanchez

Legal Aid Society Introduce

For residents of Goshen, New York, and the surrounding communities who are seeking legal assistance but may face financial barriers, the "Lawyers Near Me" platform serves as a vital resource for connecting with organizations like the Legal Aid Society. Located at 14 Scotchtown Ave in Goshen, the Legal Aid Society plays a crucial role in ensuring access to justice for individuals who cannot afford legal representation. Their presence in the "Lawyers Near Me" category highlights their commitment to serving the legal needs of the local community, particularly those who are most vulnerable.

The core mission of the Legal Aid Society is to provide free or low-cost legal services to individuals who meet specific financial eligibility criteria. Unlike private law firms that operate on a fee-for-service basis, the Legal Aid Society is often a non-profit organization dedicated to upholding the principle that everyone deserves legal representation, regardless of their ability to pay. This fundamental commitment makes them a cornerstone of the justice system, ensuring that marginalized individuals have a voice in legal proceedings.

Based on the provided customer reviews, the environment of the Legal Aid Society in Goshen is one where a significant number of individuals are seeking assistance. This high volume of need can sometimes impact the administrative aspects of the organization, as noted in the reviews. One reviewer, Roberto Sanchez, mentions that "Yes there are a lot of people that need help that go to this place. So maybe the secretaries are abrupt and quick to transfer you to the attorneys voicemail." This observation suggests that the staff may be operating under considerable pressure due to the demand for their services. It is important for individuals seeking assistance to be mindful of the potential workload of the administrative staff.

Despite the challenges posed by a high volume of clients, the reviews also offer positive feedback regarding the legal representation provided by the attorneys at the Legal Aid Society. Roberto Sanchez specifically commends his attorney, Christopher Pezzullo, stating that he "was very helpful" and handled his case "completely professionally." While he noted "a little communication," he also acknowledged that it "wasn't necessary," implying that Attorney Pezzullo effectively managed the case and communicated when required. This suggests that despite potential administrative hurdles, the legal expertise and dedication of the attorneys remain a key feature of the Legal Aid Society.

Another reviewer, Jim storms, echoes these sentiments, sharing that he had a "very positive experience when dealing with everyone there." He also makes a similar observation about the administrative processes, noting that the secretaries might be "abrupt and quick to transfer you to the attorneys voicemail" due to the high number of people seeking help. Jim storms specifically praises his attorney, Kate Bellingham, who he found "very helpful" and who handled his case "completely professionally," with communication that was sufficient for his needs. These consistent positive experiences with the attorneys highlight the quality of legal representation that the Legal Aid Society strives to provide.

The features of the Legal Aid Society extend beyond just providing legal representation. They often serve as a point of access to the justice system for individuals who might otherwise be excluded. This can include assistance with a wide range of legal issues, depending on the specific focus and resources of the local branch. While the exact types of cases handled by the Goshen office are not detailed in the provided information, Legal Aid Societies typically address critical needs in areas such as housing law (eviction prevention), family law (domestic violence, child custody), public benefits (access to essential support programs), immigration law, and consumer law. To understand the specific services offered by the Goshen office, it is advisable to contact them directly.

It is important to recognize that the Legal Aid Society operates as a safety net within the legal system. Their resources are often stretched due to the high demand for their services and limited funding. As Roberto Sanchez aptly points out, "People have to remember they are not the only one in a long list of others in need of these lawyers assistance. I am sure the staff is overwhelmed and doing the best that they can." This perspective encourages a sense of patience and understanding when interacting with the Legal Aid Society staff.

For individuals in the Goshen area who qualify for their services, the Legal Aid Society offers a crucial lifeline, providing access to legal representation that they would otherwise be unable to afford. The positive experiences shared by Roberto Sanchez and Jim storms underscore the dedication and professionalism of the attorneys within the organization. While administrative processes may reflect the high volume of need, the core function of providing quality legal assistance to those who need it most appears to be consistently upheld.

In conclusion, the Legal Aid Society located at 14 Scotchtown Ave in Goshen, NY, serves as a vital resource within the "Lawyers Near Me" category for individuals seeking free or low-cost legal assistance. The reviews from past clients highlight the professionalism and helpfulness of the attorneys, Christopher Pezzullo and Kate Bellingham, despite the potential challenges posed by a high volume of clients. For those in the Goshen area who meet the eligibility criteria for legal aid, contacting them at (845) 291-2454 or +1 845-291-2454 is the first step towards accessing crucial legal support and ensuring their rights are protected, regardless of their financial circumstances. The Legal Aid Society embodies the fundamental principle of equal access to justice for all members of the community.

I had a court case in New Windsor and I called these people when I got on the phone with them. They were the rudest people I've ever dealt with in my entire life and they wanted to know the income of my boyfriend and if I didn't give that information they wouldn't represent me. Not only did I speak to two or three people which all them. One had one worse attitude than the other but they hung up the phone on me. They didn't care about nothing but how much money my boyfriend made and these are the people that are supposed to represent you if you can. Stay far far far far away from these people at any cost

I called in dire need of information and assistance with an important matter. I thought I was about to lose custody of my son. When I tried to explain my situation to the woman I was on the phone with, she proceeded to put me directly on hold. I'm not sure this place should even exist. Just because people are in need does not mean they shouldn't be treated like human beings. Very RUDE and UNPROFESSIONAL. DON'T call this place if you are looking for compassion or even the basics of courtesy. SHAMEFUL.

Called Asking About A Misdemeanor from 1990, I was in my early teenage years, The Case Was DISMISSED AND SEALED. I TRIED explaining I have talked to the Court, who provided a Disposition Including The Raised Seal, Stamp stating SEALED also states Charges DISMISSED! I didn't Even Live In Orange County At The Time I was Visiting Family and Friends, I was REPRESENTED BY ORANGE COUNTY LEGAL AID .... The Incident Has Started Showing up on my Criminal History Record Costing Me TWO JOBS. I TRIED ASKING THE PERSON WHO ANSWERED THE PHONE since OC Legal Aid Represented me and the "Clean Slate" act if I could be assisted by or have a referral on who can help me clear the issue up (Since They Would Have Access To The Same Report And Represented Me)... The Person Who Answered The Phone Literally Told Me "JUSS CAUSE A RECORD ISS SEALED (No Not A Typo I was Spoken To As If We Were Having A Conversation On The Street, The Chewing Gum Didn't Help or attitude after asking to speak with someone else) DOSEN'T MEAN IT DOESN'T TELL THE PEOPLE WHO RAN THE CHECK WHAT YOU DID IT JUST MEANS SEALED NOT DETAILS AREN'T ALLOWED TO BE SEEN" When I replied "Sealed Means Sealed To Anyone But Law Enforcement In A Case Where Certain Situations Apply or Employment That Requires Certain Things Such As Firearms Are Part Of The Job, Its a sexual based or violent criminal act as OUTLINED IN THE CLEAN SLATE ACT " Instead of saying "Sorry I don't Know Who Can Help" "We Cannot Help" OR AS I ASKED "You Can Inquire about or we can refer you to Pro-Bono Attorneys" The Conversations ends with "WE CAN DO SOMETHING OR WE ONMLY HELP IF YOU HAVE A CASE RIGHT NOW THATS WHAT LEGAL AID DO" Then Hung Up On After Advising "Then Why Did The Legal Aid Society Advise Me To Contact The County Legal Aid The Incident Took Place ?" Why Did I get The Impression a Secretary Overstepped her bounds Telling People About The Law? Glad I was only in minor trouble as a kid if this is the place people depend on for help self representation with Google and Nolo will produce a better defense
