Leslie was highly recommended to me for being relentless. Unfortunately she proved that to me from a not-so-acceptable client perspective. I interviewed Leslie and hired the firm. She then assigned the case to a lackluster colleague in her office. On multiple occasions I voiced my concerns about the preparedness for the hearings. I was assured and reassured the firm was prepared. Leslie refused to handle a tangential issue related to my family law case and required another Contract. With no choice, I complied and provided another retainer, on top of the initial retainer. Then I was billed increments of 0.25 hours for 2, 5, 4, 2, 2, and 2 SENTENCES of responses back to me that totaled about 2.5 hours for a total of 17 non-legal sentences. One of these bills was even for an e-mail claimed to have been sent but was not. And yet another bill was for an issue totally out-of-scope for either Contract. Then I was billed TWICE for one event. needless to say, the budget was easily blown through and all the funds were depleted. This is where is got interesting. FINALLY Leslie decided to participate in my case, but not by being involved in my case, rather only in chasing ME for more money . Leslie asked for more money, avoided meeting with me to discuss the billing discrepancies despite at least 2 written requests, and summarily filed a Motion to Withdraw prior to her own written deadline that she didn't have the courtesy to call and tell me about, rather she sent me a Certified Mail. Then it got a little WORSE. During the hearing for the Motion to Withdraw, which was a hearing to also hear a substantive issue, Leslie opted to have the judge rule on her Motion to Withdraw BEFORE the substantive motion. That left me holding the proverbial "legal bag" alone, 'pro se', unprepared. Be careful here. As my Texas Granddad would say, I think Leslie "got a little too big for her britches". Her only involvement was chasing dollars instead of being a client advocate and participating in a case that SHE interviewed for and accepted, knowing my entire personal situation. I would NOT recommend her or her practice.

Leslie Barrows Introduce

Welcome to Lawyers Near Me, your platform for discovering legal professionals in your vicinity. Today, we're introducing Leslie Barrows, an attorney located at 520 E Southlake Blvd Ste 140, Southlake, TX 76092, USA. For inquiries, Leslie Barrows can be reached at (817) 481-1583 or via mobile at +1 817-481-1583.

When considering legal services, understanding the attorney's practice, approach, and client experiences is crucial. Based in Southlake, Texas, Leslie Barrows operates within a professional setting typical of legal firms in the area. While specific details about the interior environment, such as waiting areas or consultation rooms, are not publicly available, it can be generally assumed that the office space is designed to facilitate client meetings and legal work in a professional and confidential manner, aligning with standard legal practice environments. The address suggests a location within a commercial suite, which often implies a well-maintained and accessible office for clients.

The services offered by Leslie Barrows are primarily in the realm of family law, as indicated by client feedback. This typically encompasses a broad spectrum of legal matters related to family relationships, including divorce, child custody, child support, spousal support, adoption, and other domestic issues. Clients seeking assistance with these sensitive and often complex legal challenges would likely engage Leslie Barrows for representation, legal advice, and guidance through the court system or alternative dispute resolution methods. The general expectation for such services would include case assessment, drafting legal documents, negotiation, and courtroom advocacy.

Regarding the features of the legal practice, a key aspect that surfaces from client reviews is the initial impression and reputation. One client mentioned that Leslie Barrows was "highly recommended... for being relentless." This suggests a perception of an attorney who is determined and tenacious in advocating for her clients' interests. Such a characteristic is often highly valued in legal representation, particularly in adversarial proceedings like those found in family law. Clients often seek an attorney who will fight diligently on their behalf.

However, it is equally important to present a balanced perspective by incorporating feedback that describes actual client experiences. The same client who initially heard of the "relentless" nature subsequently provided a detailed account that portrayed a different experience. This client's review highlights several concerns regarding the firm's service delivery and professional conduct. These concerns include, but are not limited to, case assignment, preparedness for hearings, billing practices, and communication.

Specifically, the client reported that after hiring Leslie Barrows, the case was assigned to a "lackluster colleague" within the office, raising concerns about preparedness for hearings despite assurances from the firm. This suggests a potential delegation of work within the firm, which is a common practice, but the client's dissatisfaction indicates issues with the perceived quality of the assigned representation.

Another significant point of contention raised by the client pertains to billing practices. The client states that Leslie Barrows refused to handle a "tangential issue" related to the family law case without a separate contract and additional retainer. This led to what the client viewed as excessive billing for minimal communication, specifically mentioning charges for very short responses totaling hours for a small number of sentences. There were also claims of being billed for emails not sent, for out-of-scope issues, and being double-billed for one event. Such billing practices, if accurate, could be a serious point of concern for potential clients, as transparency and fairness in billing are paramount in legal services. The depletion of funds quickly is a common client frustration when perceived value does not align with costs.

The client's review also details communication and withdrawal issues. It's noted that Leslie Barrows allegedly avoided meeting to discuss billing discrepancies despite written requests and then filed a Motion to Withdraw prior to her own stated deadline, without a direct call to inform the client, instead sending certified mail. Furthermore, during the hearing for the Motion to Withdraw, Leslie Barrows reportedly opted to have her motion ruled upon before a substantive issue in the case, leaving the client unprepared and "pro se" (representing themselves). This sequence of events, as described by the client, could imply a lack of client advocacy and professional courtesy during a critical phase of the legal process.

In terms of promotional information, law firms typically highlight their successes, areas of expertise, and client commitment. While specific promotional materials for Leslie Barrows are not detailed in the provided information, the initial recommendation received by the client ("relentless") indicates that there is an existing reputation or marketing message that positions her as a strong advocate. However, it is essential for prospective clients to consider both these positive perceptions and the detailed critical feedback from past clients when making an informed decision. The "Lawyers Near Me" platform aims to provide comprehensive insights to help users navigate their legal choices.

In summary, Leslie Barrows is an attorney operating in Southlake, TX, specializing in family law. Her practice is accessible at the provided address and contact numbers. While some perceive her as a "relentless" advocate, detailed client feedback suggests potential concerns regarding case management, billing transparency, communication, and client support, particularly in the later stages of representation. These aspects are critical for individuals seeking legal assistance, and it is always advisable for potential clients to conduct their own due diligence, including direct consultation, to assess suitability and ensure alignment with their expectations for legal representation.

I had an extremely disappointing experience with this attorney. She represented my husband and failed to fulfill her responsibilities. Not only did she neglect to carry out the necessary tasks, but she also consistently sent us exorbitant bills without any justification. We found ourselves constantly reminding her to complete even the simplest of tasks. It is important for others to be aware of this attorney's lack of professionalism and competence. I would strongly advise against seeking her services.

First things first, Bauer is my pen name, but my real name is Brad Uptmore. Leslie has represented me in an over 3-year long divorce and custody battle. Leslie was fierce. She was aggressive. She was compassionate. We were up against a titan and the titan was toppled hearing after hearing. When I am inevitably dragged back to court by the opposition because they will never stop, I will have one choice in a lawyer with me-- Leslie Barrows. How else could a man, a cop, and in Denton County get full custody of his two kiddos? Thank you Leslie for saving our lives.

Leslie is such an amazing part of the community. She is a family law/divorce attorney with a servants heart. I've ran into her at family court when I am there on behalf of CASA. She loves to help families through the good and bad times.
