I am an attorney licensed to practice law in Massachusetts. My practice consists of representing individuals in nursing homes. Recently, LTC Matters "law firm" has represented two nursing homes in Western Massachusetts: LeeHealth Care (Next Step Health Care) in Lee, MA and Hillcrest Nursing and Rehabilitation in Pittsfield,MA. I have tremendous concerns with this organization.Lets start:(1) law firms contain the names of the managing partners not some vague and confusing name such as LTC Matters (supposed to stand for Long Term Care Matters) 2:This has suggested to me that this is a private equity company and not a law firm. There is no transparency. I have asked repeatedly for explanation and received none. In fact when I called and was told there was an owner and aksed for his/her name i was rebuffed. The one attorney,Alison Murphy, when I call the number the VM gives no indication who you have reached.Says press 0 for the operator which leads you to someones VM who never calls back.If you do not know the lawyer's extension you are out of luck.(3)Much more concerning, their lawyers seems to have (or do not instruct the nursing homes who they represent) on the law in MA. I was told in so many words by the administrator at Lee Health Care that he refused to answer as to whether or not he was educated on the law for what is referred to as Roger's Orders. I represent an 88 year old woman, counsel for LTC Matters said the nurse saw my client in person. She not only did not but recomended that antipsychotic medications vastly different and in higher dosages than the current order might be needed.I have very serious concerns about this organization such that I have filed a complaint with the Department of Health. I hope that the MA DPH is reading this.

Conversely, an attorney representing individuals in nursing homes expressed significant concerns, questioning the organization's transparency and perceived lack of clarity regarding its structure (whether it's a traditional law firm or a private equity company).
