I contacted Mr. Marquez via my Employer Assistance Program about a concern that my landlord is trying to tack on additional rent increases that are not legal in our rent stabilized building. He called me back the next business day but when I asked him my question he was rushed, abrupt, and dismissive. I suspect that the landlord is counting on tenants not understanding the 421A program and that Mr. Marquez (as a TENANTS ATTORNEY) would easily be able to explain to me what is and is not allowed to be charged. Without asking any follow up questions he told me "I don't know anything about that" and told me to call the DHCR. He couldn't wait to get me off of the phone. I can't help but think it is because I have a free 30 minute consultation and he could tell there was no money to be made off of me. Don't participate in a program like this if you aren't willing to help people. Clearly you have no other way to get clients. Steer clear of this guy.

Marquez Sergio Introduce

For individuals in the Bronx, New York, seeking legal assistance through the "Lawyers Near Me" platform, it is crucial to carefully evaluate potential legal counsel. This introduction focuses on Marquez Sergio, an attorney with an office located at 835 Walton Ave, Bronx, NY 10451, USA. You can contact this office by calling (718) 293-1000 or +1 718-293-1000.

The Law Office of Marquez Sergio operates from its address on Walton Avenue in the Bronx. While specific details about the office environment are not provided in the available information, it is reasonable to assume a standard professional office setting where client consultations and legal work are conducted. The location within a commercial area suggests accessibility for local residents seeking legal assistance.

Based on the limited client reviews available online, it is challenging to definitively ascertain the specific areas of law in which Marquez Sergio primarily practices. One review indicates that the individual contacted Mr. Marquez through an Employer Assistance Program regarding a concern about potentially illegal rent increases in a rent-stabilized building, suggesting that Mr. Marquez may represent tenants in landlord-tenant disputes. The reviewer specifically noted that they believed Mr. Marquez, as a "TENANTS ATTORNEY," should have been able to explain the 421A program and the legality of the rent increases. However, the reviewer's experience was that Mr. Marquez was "rushed, abrupt, and dismissive" and stated he knew nothing about the matter, advising the caller to contact the DHCR instead.

The second review provides a more general and severely negative assessment of Mr. Marquez's legal services. The reviewer strongly advises against hiring him, claiming to have learned "the hard way" that representing oneself would have been better. This review alleges that Mr. Marquez worsened the situation by "refusing to hear what I had to say" and failing to utilize available evidence, ultimately leading to the loss of the case in court. The reviewer goes so far as to question Mr. Marquez's qualification as a lawyer and accuses him of potentially "rob you of your money."

Given the overwhelmingly negative nature of the available client feedback, it is difficult to identify positive features of Marquez Sergio's legal practice based solely on this information. The reviews highlight significant concerns regarding his client communication, willingness to address client inquiries (even during a free consultation), and his handling of at least one legal case. The first review suggests a lack of engagement with a potential client's issue, even within an area seemingly related to tenant rights, while the second review paints a picture of an attorney who is unresponsive to client input and ineffective in court.

The absence of any positive reviews or information about successful case outcomes makes it impossible to objectively identify features that might be considered strengths of this legal practice based on the provided data. The recurring themes in the negative feedback center around a perceived lack of professionalism, dismissiveness towards clients, and, in one instance, alleged incompetence in handling a legal case.

There is no promotional information available for Marquez Sergio in the provided data. The absence of positive testimonials or any claims of expertise or successful outcomes means that individuals in the "Lawyers Near Me" category must rely solely on the strongly negative feedback provided by the two reviewers. This lack of positive promotion, coupled with the serious allegations made in the reviews, presents a significant challenge for anyone considering retaining Mr. Marquez's services.

For individuals in the "Lawyers Near Me" category seeking legal representation in the Bronx, the available information regarding Marquez Sergio strongly suggests exercising extreme caution. The allegations of unprofessionalism, dismissiveness, and ineffective case management are serious and should not be ignored. Potential clients should consider these reviews very carefully and are strongly advised to seek alternative legal counsel and thoroughly vet any lawyer they are considering hiring.

It is recommended that anyone considering Marquez Sergio for their legal needs look for additional information from other sources, if possible. This might include checking with the local bar association for any disciplinary records or seeking opinions from other individuals who may have worked with him. However, based on the currently available feedback, proceeding with caution and exploring other options within the "Lawyers Near Me" category would be a prudent course of action.

In conclusion, the available information regarding Marquez Sergio, a lawyer located in the Bronx, NY, consists of two highly negative client reviews. These reviews allege unprofessional behavior, dismissiveness towards clients, and ineffective legal representation. In the absence of any positive feedback or promotional information, individuals seeking legal assistance in the Bronx through the "Lawyers Near Me" platform are strongly advised to consider these serious concerns and to thoroughly explore alternative legal options to ensure they receive competent and professional representation.

The only reason he gets 1 star is because he could not have received a lower rating. Whoever is thinking about hiring this person, please listen to me and do not hire him because you will regret it. You are much better at representing yourself as I learned this the hard way. He made my situation much worse due to him refusing to hear what I had to say when trying to explain to him the situation. It is clear he doesn't know how to manage a case, he can have all the evidence needed to win the case but doesn't know how to use them. Before hiring him with the evidence in our hands we were sure to win the case but he ended up refusing to use this evidence and threw away the case in court. This man does not deserve the title of a lawyer as I do not know how he in any way qualifies as one. He won't listen to you or use the evidence in his favor and throw away the case. Please once again I warn anyone reading this not to hire this man who will just rob you of your money.

I have to agree in part with Jorge. The only reason I'm not giving this business a 1 star is that the paralegal working there that I spoke with seemed professional. Otherwise everything else left much to be desired. First of all there is a $250 consultation fee. Our consultation opened up with him coldly and imperatively requesting his fee. It seemed a little rude given the way he said it but hey, things cost what they cost and peoples time is money so I didn't think too much of it. Next he carelessly thumbed through my documents and claimed that I didn't bring what was requested when in fact all requested documentation was there, mind you with an index on the front page. When he finally found it, I then began to explain the legal issue I was having and was disrespectfully cut off several times before I could finish my sentence. He also didn't bother to look at the pictures of the damage I emailed (which my case centered around), leaving me to verbally explain the damage. As a former business owner, I can tell you that body language says a lot in business. Given his posture, tone, and facial expression they all screamed "IDGAF about you; I'm just here to collect my fee". This was further validated when he took a seemingly nonurgent call which lasted about 5 minutes in the middle of our meeting, WHICH ONCE AGAIN COST ME $250! The (1 hour) consultation ended 25 minutes early with him basically throwing his hands up and saying there wasn't much that could be done in my situation. And hey, the law is the law and signed contracts are legally binding so that may in fact be true. But how could anyone be sure after seeing their case reviewed so carelessly. The worst part is that later in the week I had another consultation with a different attorney (for a different issue) which didn't cost me anything and the lawyer was far more helpful and interested in my case. It was then that I fully realized the severity of this ripoff. Sergio, if you're going to charge people like this for consultations here are some pointers: 1. Come to the meeting fully prepared with everything your potential clients send you beforehand (especially if it was requested of them). 2. Work on your body landguage and tone. Even if you don't care about the people who are paying you at least pretend for their benefit. 3. DO NOT take non-urgent calls during your expensive consultations. 4. Don't cut potential clients off when they are talking. Once again this isn't about not getting the answer I wanted. But for that kind of money I should feel like the attorney at least tried their best during the hour (which was cut back to 35 minutes; 30 if you factor in the call he took) that I was charged for.

My experience working with Mr. Marquez has been remarkable. He is someone trustworthy, honest, affordable and knowledgeable of the system. I would not change his services.

Not sure if this gentleman should even be called a lawyer. I quite literally ended up defending myself and negotiating a resolution to my own case. Extremely lazy work and does not keep records as required by law, did not even provide copies of case resolution. 1 star is actually being nice.
