I hired this law firm to do my bankruptcy, when i needed to call them to ask a question I didn’t get a replay, i tried 3 times in a week to talk with someone and got no reply, so i stopped in to find out what was going on when they abruptly told me that they were so busy and didn’t have time to call people back and that they are not the law firm for me and they are going to give me a refund how unprofessional and a week of paper work wasted I’ve never in my life ever been treated like this from any company, you hire somebody to do a job and then they don’t wanna communicate with you and then they get upset because you stopped to question them on what was going on, I would highly suggest never hiring this law firm! For anything!!!
For individuals and small businesses in Colorado Springs facing overwhelming debt and seeking a path to financial recovery, McLaughlin Bankruptcy offers specialized legal services. Operating within the "Lawyers Near Me" platform category, this firm dedicates its practice exclusively to bankruptcy law, aiming to provide a "fresh start" for its clients.
McLaughlin Bankruptcy is located at 210 N Corona St, Colorado Springs, CO 80903, USA. The firm also maintains an office in Pueblo, indicating a broader service area within Southern Colorado. While one client noted the "old feel of the building," they quickly added, "This team knows what they are doing!!" This suggests that while the physical environment might not be modern or flashy, the focus is squarely on competent legal expertise. The office environment is likely professional and functional, designed to facilitate the often sensitive and private discussions involved in bankruptcy proceedings.
The core services offered by McLaughlin Bankruptcy are singularly focused on federal bankruptcy laws. The firm assists clients with both Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy filings. Chapter 7, often referred to as liquidation bankruptcy, is designed to discharge most unsecured debts quickly, providing a swift financial fresh start for eligible individuals. Chapter 13, known as reorganization bankruptcy, allows individuals with regular income to repay a portion of their debts over a structured period, typically three to five years, under a court-approved plan. The firm's deep specialization means they are adept at navigating the intricacies of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code, helping clients understand which chapter is most suitable for their unique financial situation.
Beyond the fundamental bankruptcy filings, McLaughlin Bankruptcy also works to address various related issues that accompany severe debt. This includes immediate actions to stop creditor harassment, halt lawsuits, prevent wage garnishments, stop vehicle repossessions, and prevent home foreclosures. Their stated goal is to "stop immediately creditor attacks and restore your peace of mind free from burdensome debt."
The distinguishing features of McLaughlin Bankruptcy, as gleaned from client feedback and the firm's self-description, present a mixed but ultimately clear picture of their approach. One client praised the team for making "filing easy" and streamlining "everything," noting their willingness to "always answer questions and help me through the process." This suggests a strong organizational capability and a commitment to guiding clients step-by-step through a complex legal procedure. Michael McLaughlin, the attorney, has been practicing bankruptcy law since 1987, serving as a member of the private panel of Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Trustees and participating extensively in litigation, which points to a deep well of experience and expertise in the field.
However, another client review provided a contrasting perspective, highlighting communication difficulties. This individual reported trying "3 times in a week to talk with someone and got no reply," and upon stopping in, was "abruptly told... they were so busy and didn’t have time to call people back and that they are not the law firm for me." This feedback indicates that while the firm may be highly skilled in bankruptcy law, responsiveness and consistent client communication can be areas where individual experiences vary significantly. It suggests that potential clients should consider their expectations regarding direct and immediate communication when evaluating this firm.
Despite this critical feedback on communication, the firm's longevity (incorporated in 1992) and continued operation, coupled with positive reviews emphasizing their knowledge and efficiency, suggest that many clients do find their process effective. Michael McLaughlin has been voted a Colorado Springs Top Bankruptcy Attorney many years running, indicating a strong professional reputation within the legal community. The firm states that "Bankruptcy is ALL we have done for many years acquiring experience, skills, and knowledge that helps you achieve the best outcomes against your creditors and with the bankruptcy trustees."
Promotional information for McLaughlin Bankruptcy emphasizes several key benefits. They highlight their affordability, reliability, and respected status. They provide "no obligation" appointments and "Free Case Evaluation" to help potential clients understand how they can achieve a new financial start. Their website features frequently asked questions and information about Chapter 7 and Chapter 13, aimed at educating clients about the bankruptcy process. They also proudly state their commitment to helping "thousands of people start over again with a fresh start financially" over more than two decades of dedicated service. Their hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with a lunch break from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.
In conclusion, for local users in Colorado Springs searching on "Lawyers Near Me" for bankruptcy assistance, McLaughlin Bankruptcy, led by attorney Michael McLaughlin, presents a deeply experienced and specialized option. While there are noted variations in client experiences regarding communication, the firm's extensive background in Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy, its streamlined process for filing, and its dedication to stopping creditor actions are consistent features. Potential clients are advised to consider their individual communication needs when evaluating this firm, but its long-standing presence and focus on debt relief indicate a strong capability to guide individuals and small businesses toward a financial fresh start.
