John Merrick was referred to me by a close friend who was a law clerk for a retired judge in Virginia. John and team listened closely to the details of the accident and my case, and quickly decided that it should be “winnable”. Over the next 18 months, John and team built a compelling case including expert testimony, that ultimately resulted in a mediated settlement which occurred within 30 days of the scheduled trial date. Throughout the process, John was very clear about the strengths and weaknesses of the case, and where he felt the potential risks were. I initially spoke with Lucero (Paralegal) to request a phone conference prior to hiring the Merrick Brock firm. Mr. Merrick was in deposition however Lucero reached him immediately to confirm his availability for the call that we needed expeditiously (within 3 hours). We knew that we were requesting a lot. Mr. Merrick called, at the exact minute, as promised by Lucero. I must say a few things: Lucero is wonderful, kind & very helpful! Mr. Merrick is even more so. (Good people attract good people which is immediately seen with this group!) After listening intently to a garbled mess of events that had taken place, John immediately gave us an understanding of our position, very professional and knowledgeable advice and an overwhelming feeling of relief! While explaining that we did not need to hire him he reassured us that he is there for us if we need him! He spent almost an hour with us and refused our offer of payment for his time. We would have gladly paid him for the professional advice but ultimately for the huge weight & stress that he took off of our shoulders.
