The old women who answers the phones should retire and collect whatever she can from social security. She should not be answering phones or taking to the public. I called about a case. Never cursed, or yelled. I didn't call her anything outside of her name. She hung up on me because I couldn't think of the name of the contact person. I called back 15 times and she hung up 15 times. Then finally answered and told me she would press charges on me for harassment. How do you file harassment charges for the public calling, a public service building, to discuss a public service issue with an elected official??? Sounds like some people needs to be voted out of office if this is the "public servants" you have hired for your administration....

Welcome to Lawyers Near Me, your platform for understanding the legal landscape and connecting with legal resources in your vicinity. While our platform primarily focuses on connecting users with private attorneys who offer direct legal services, it's also important to understand the role of public legal offices within the justice system. Today, we provide an overview of the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office, located in Norristown, Pennsylvania. Understanding the function of this office is crucial for anyone navigating the criminal justice system within Montgomery County, even though it operates as the prosecuting body rather than providing direct legal representation to the public.

The Montgomery County District Attorney's Office serves as the chief law enforcement agency for the prosecution of criminal offenses within Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. Headed by the elected District Attorney, this office is responsible for upholding the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and ensuring public safety within the county. While it does not offer legal representation to individuals facing criminal charges or those seeking to file criminal complaints (these individuals would typically seek private criminal defense attorneys or report incidents to local police), understanding its structure, function, and the services it provides to victims and the community is vital for a comprehensive understanding of the local legal environment.

    Environment and Structure:

The Montgomery County District Attorney's Office is located in the Montgomery County Courthouse in Norristown, Pennsylvania. As a governmental entity, its environment is typically characterized by the administrative and legal functions necessary for prosecuting criminal cases. This includes office spaces for Assistant District Attorneys, investigators, victim services personnel, and administrative staff. The office operates within the formal setting of the county government and the judicial system.

The office is structured hierarchically, with the elected District Attorney at the helm, overseeing various divisions and units that handle different types of criminal cases. These may include divisions for major crimes, narcotics, domestic violence, juvenile offenses, and economic crimes, among others. Assistant District Attorneys are assigned to these units, responsible for the day-to-day prosecution of cases. The office also employs investigators who work to gather evidence and support the prosecution's efforts. Furthermore, a crucial component of the District Attorney's Office is its victim services unit, which provides support, information, and resources to victims of crime.

    Key Functions and Responsibilities:

The primary function of the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office is to prosecute criminal offenses that occur within the county's jurisdiction. This involves a range of critical responsibilities:

    • Reviewing Arrests and Initiating Criminal Charges: After an arrest is made by local law enforcement, the District Attorney's Office reviews the evidence to determine whether to file formal criminal charges.
    • Presenting Cases to Grand Juries: For felony-level offenses, the District Attorney's Office presents evidence to a grand jury, which decides whether there is sufficient probable cause to issue an indictment.
    • Prosecuting Criminal Cases in Court: Assistant District Attorneys represent the Commonwealth in criminal court proceedings, including arraignments, preliminary hearings, trials, and sentencing hearings.
    • Negotiating Plea Agreements: In many criminal cases, the District Attorney's Office engages in plea negotiations with defense attorneys to resolve cases without going to trial.
    • Working with Law Enforcement: The District Attorney's Office collaborates closely with local police departments and other law enforcement agencies in the investigation of crimes.
    • Providing Support to Victims of Crime: The Victim Services Unit within the District Attorney's Office offers a range of services to victims, including crisis intervention, counseling referrals, information about the criminal justice process, and assistance with victim compensation.
    • Community Outreach and Education: The District Attorney's Office often engages in community outreach programs to educate the public about crime prevention and the role of the office in the criminal justice system.

While the District Attorney's Office does not provide legal defense services, its role is integral to the functioning of the criminal justice system, and understanding its processes can be beneficial for individuals who may become involved in the system, either as victims or as defendants who would then seek the services of a private criminal defense attorney found through platforms like Lawyers Near Me.

    Features and Objectives:

The Montgomery County District Attorney's Office operates with the primary objectives of ensuring public safety, seeking justice for victims of crime, and upholding the rule of law. Key features of the office include:

    • Commitment to Justice: The office is dedicated to prosecuting those who violate the law while ensuring fairness and due process.
    • Focus on Public Safety: A primary goal is to protect the community by holding offenders accountable and working to prevent future crime.
    • Support for Victims: The Victim Services Unit plays a crucial role in providing assistance and resources to those harmed by crime.
    • Collaboration with Law Enforcement: Effective partnerships with police and other investigative agencies are essential to the office's work.
    • Specialized Units: The existence of specialized units allows the office to focus expertise on particular types of crimes, leading to more effective prosecution.

For users of Lawyers Near Me, understanding these features can help contextualize the role of the prosecution in any criminal case they or someone they know might be involved in. If facing criminal charges, individuals would need to seek the services of a private criminal defense attorney, and knowing how the District Attorney's Office operates can inform their understanding of the legal process they will be navigating with their defense counsel.

How does this DA even collect tax payer money? The Springfield Township police ARE corrupt. The Chief of Police in Springfield is corrupt. I’m surprised these people are still alive. These reviews are horrendous. Internal affairs needs to come down on these people it is treason. You should not be biased. Do someone about these people. Stop sitting these collecting the money I pay my taxes with. You get paid to do nothing!

The district attorney’s office refuses to help someone who was almost killed due to an accident caused by an unlicensed driver or even return calls or emails. Including, Gwen Kull, Lauren Fischer, and the DA Kevin Steele himself. I’ve been trying to contact and get answers for months with nothing but excuses in return for their incompetence and lack of doing their jobs. Bunch of liars and blame others for their laziness and total incompetence in my experience.

I have been trying to file a report against the Plymouth township police force for negligence corruption and so far no one has called me back from the district attorney's office. It's been a couple days. It's making me feel like it's part of the blue code of silence or something and that they will probably not even speak to me the same way the police have blocked my number and are trying to ignore me. I wish the district court was more on top of their job

Horrible service, doesn’t return my calls and doesn’t complete tasks in a timely manner. Been trying to change or void bail conditions for my soon to be husband for weeks now. No response or consideration of my marriage date which is end of December 2023. I’m the victim and have no say. Makes no sense.
