As the victim of a violent crime I reached out to this organization for counsel and representation of my interests in the case. The local DA has been doing an A+ JOB currently victimizing the victim, and doing the EXACT OPPOSITE of literally everything that he had initially discussed with me. He has seemingly went back on all his promises (more like BRIBERY TACTICS); and has instead, begun fear-mongering me into compliance (or at least attempting to do so)... UNFORTUNATELY, I am on an incredibly tight budget and DO NOT HAVE the financial means to privately hire a private Victim's Attorney (not even through the Modest Means Referral Program). I contacted OCVLC several times over the past 3-ish weeks and explained my situation clearly, and addressed my unique needs for protection from getting railroaded (for lack of a better term) by the DA (just as he does with the defendants in his criminal cases). In the end, I simply received a brief-couple sentence- response email stating they are not to assist me on my matter and to contact DV services for the county. Not so much as an explanation as to why they were not going to be able to assist. It's really unfortunate..... 😔

Jan 27, 2024 · Katie MathewsRachel a Supposed Victim law advocate attorney was extremely unhelpful. She called me and stated she could not complete an intake after her assistant said it was fine to leave a.detalied message and that all info would be added to the intake form. She then stated she would not be representing me and I believe she probably hasn't represented ANYONE In years! God forbid anyone need help in this city. So many families need this entities and their assistance ..... please hire an attorney that has Heart and provided hope and is more of an advocate.
