This so called attorney is a disgrace to his profession. He was appointed to my case and looked out for everyone's best interest but my own. He is beholden to the department of family and protective services because that is his bread and butter. If you have a case affecting the parent child relationship do not expect this gentleman to look out for your best interests because he will not bite the hand that feeds him. He is thoroughly involved in the gears of Injustice that grinds up families for the sole purpose of a revenue stream. One star is one star too many. If you get appointed this attorney... run. If you're thinking of hiring this attorney ... seek counsel elsewhere. Believe me when I tell you this is not an attorney that you want. He believes he is smarter than everyone else, therefore he only hears what is going on in his own head. And because of this, he believes he knows better than you what is best for your family and he acts as such even if it's in direct conflict with what you tell him you want. Narcissistic God Complex comes to mind but in my opinion even THAT is being conservative in my discription of his bad qualities. I cannot over emphasize this point: This is not an attorney you want to hand the outcome of your life on. SEEK COUNSEL ELSEWHERE!!!

Patrick A. Wright Introduce

For individuals in Dallas and surrounding areas facing challenging and often emotionally charged family law matters, Patrick A. Wright is an attorney who operates within the "Lawyers Near Me" category. Based at 8150 N Central Expy #775, Dallas, TX 75206, USA, Mr. Wright's practice focuses on critical areas of family law, including complex child custody disputes and cases involving Child Protective Services (CPS).

The office of Patrick A. Wright is situated in a professional building on North Central Expressway, a major thoroughfare in Dallas. While specific details about the interior environment of his office are not provided, an office on the 7th floor of such a complex typically offers a formal and private setting. This environment is designed to facilitate confidential discussions essential to family law cases, where personal details and sensitive situations are often at the forefront. The location is generally accessible for clients residing in and around Dallas.

Patrick A. Wright's primary practice areas are deeply rooted in family law and child welfare. His services are highly specialized, focusing on:

  • Family Law: This encompasses a wide range of issues such as divorce, property division in divorce, child custody, child support, modifications to existing orders, and marital agreements. He handles both simple and complex family law cases, aiming to guide clients through these often difficult transitions.
  • Child Custody: A significant part of his practice involves representing parents and children in custody disputes, striving to achieve outcomes that are in the best interest of the child while protecting parental rights.
  • Child Protective Services (CPS) Cases: Patrick A. Wright is particularly recognized for his involvement in Child Protective Services (CPS) matters. This involves representing parents whose children have been removed from their homes or are at risk of removal by CPS, as well as representing children in these sensitive cases as an attorney ad litem.
  • Child Welfare Law: His expertise extends to the broader area of child welfare law, which involves legal issues related to the protection and well-being of children.

A notable feature of Patrick A. Wright's professional profile is his high level of specialization and recognition within the legal community. He is Board Certified in Family Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. This certification signifies extensive knowledge and experience in family law, requiring a rigorous examination and substantial involvement in the field. Additionally, he is Board Certified in Child Welfare Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, a more recent but equally significant specialization that highlights his dedicated expertise in cases involving child protection and state intervention. He is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and the International Academy of Family Lawyers, which are prestigious organizations recognizing leading practitioners in family law.

Mr. Wright has been consistently recognized as a "Super Lawyer" by Thomson Reuters (from 2008 to 2025), a designation awarded to a small percentage of attorneys based on peer recognition and professional achievement. He has also been recognized by U.S. News & World Report's "Best Lawyers in America" for Family Law and Family Law Mediation, and his firm, The Wright Firm, LLP, has received "Best Law Firm" designations for family law. His background includes serving as City Attorney and City Prosecutor for various Texas cities, and he is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court and several U.S. District Courts in Texas.

Despite these impressive credentials and professional accolades, it is critical for potential clients to consider the provided customer reviews, which raise significant concerns regarding client advocacy and perceived ethical conduct, particularly in family-related matters:

  • Allegations of Conflict of Interest and Bias: One highly critical review states, "He was appointed to my case and looked out for everyone's best interest but my own. He is beholden to the department of family and protective services because that is his bread and butter." The client alleges that Mr. Wright "will not bite the hand that feeds him" and is "thoroughly involved in the gears of Injustice that grinds up families for the sole purpose of a revenue stream." This is a severe accusation of a conflict of interest, where the attorney is perceived to prioritize the interests of the appointing body (DFPS) over the client he is meant to represent. The client strongly advises: "If you get appointed this attorney... run. If you're thinking of hiring this attorney ... seek counsel elsewhere."
  • Perceived God Complex and Disregard for Client Wishes: The same review also states that Mr. Wright "believes he is smarter than everyone else, therefore he only hears what is going on in his own head. And because of this, he believes he knows better than you what is best for your family and he acts as such even if it's in direct conflict with what you tell him you want. Narcissistic God Complex comes to mind but in my opinion even THAT is being conservative in my discription of his bad qualities." This suggests a challenging client experience where the attorney may not fully consider or implement the client's expressed desires.
  • Contrasting Positive Feedback on Legal Knowledge: In contrast to the highly negative review, another review states, "He understands the law better than most attorneys if he has any questions he does not ask for assistance he looks straight into the book of law and most of the time proves other attorneys wrong." This highlights his perceived deep legal knowledge and ability to interpret and apply the law effectively. However, this positive comment is primarily about his legal intellect rather than his client advocacy or ethical conduct in all situations.

Promotional information from his firm, The Wright Firm, LLP (with offices in Flower Mound and Frisco in addition to Dallas, suggesting a broader regional presence), generally highlights their commitment to assisting clients in reaching their objectives in a financially and emotionally beneficial manner. It also mentions his training in collaborative law and status as a certified family law mediator, indicating a willingness to explore alternative dispute resolution methods. The firm's website also emphasizes leveraging technology to ease client stresses. However, the provided reviews offer a stark contrast to these promotional statements, specifically for Mr. Wright's individual representation in certain types of cases.

For local users in Dallas considering Patrick A. Wright for family law or child welfare matters, it is crucial to reconcile his significant credentials and positive feedback on legal knowledge with the severe allegations raised in client reviews regarding conflicts of interest and client representation. Potential clients should thoroughly discuss the attorney's role, potential conflicts, communication style, and how their specific goals will be prioritized. In cases involving CPS or court appointments, explicitly clarifying the attorney's loyalty and responsibilities is paramount. His phone number for contact is (469) 635-6900 or +1 469-635-6900.
