Today, we present information regarding PETER ALAN JOSEPH, ESQ., an attorney with an address listed at 177 Waverly Pl #5F, New York, NY 10014, USA. You can reach him by phone at (646) 337-7051 or his mobile number +1 646-337-7051. It is crucial for local users in the New York area, and potentially those seeking legal assistance from overseas, to carefully consider the information available online regarding this attorney before engaging his services. The following introduction is based solely on the reviews provided by individuals who claim to have been his clients.
Based on the limited information available, PETER ALAN JOSEPH, ESQ. appears to operate from a residential address. One review explicitly describes his office as being located in his "rather old and unkempt apartment which is up 5 flights of very steep stairs." This description of the environment may be a factor for potential clients to consider, particularly regarding accessibility and professionalism of the office setting.
The services that PETER ALAN JOSEPH, ESQ. reportedly offers, based on the provided reviews, include immigration law, specifically asylum cases. One detailed review outlines an experience where the client sought his assistance to file for asylum for a young man. However, the account that follows raises significant concerns about the quality and nature of the services provided.
The features and reported conduct of PETER ALAN JOSEPH, ESQ., as described by these reviewers, paint a concerning picture. One reviewer states that they put a retainer down and claim that "nothing got done for 5 months" and that they have been "robbed of money" due to alleged lack of service and inoperable phone lines. This suggests a severe lack of communication and potential financial mismanagement, which are serious red flags for anyone seeking legal representation.
The second, more detailed review provides a disturbing account of the client's interactions with PETER ALAN JOSEPH, ESQ. According to this review, the initial consultation, advertised as free, allegedly resulted in a $100 cash payment, which was later claimed to have taken 3.5 hours and billed at $175 per hour. This discrepancy regarding the consultation fee and the claimed duration is a significant point of contention. Furthermore, the $100 was reportedly added to a $2500 retainer fee.
The client recounts limited contact with Mr. Joseph, stating they only saw him about three times. One of these meetings involved filling out a supposed asylum application, which the reviewer claims was written in Mr. Joseph's "own illegible hand writing." This raises concerns about the professionalism and clarity of the legal documents being prepared.
The review also details issues with appointment scheduling, alleging that Mr. Joseph frequently changed appointment times via text messages without ensuring the clients received them. A particularly alarming incident is described where the clients arrived for a scheduled appointment, crucial due to the impending one-year deadline for filing asylum, only to find Mr. Joseph allegedly asleep in bed. He reportedly claimed they did not have an appointment and asked them to return the next day, subsequently changing the time via text message.
Following these incidents, the clients reportedly decided to discontinue Mr. Joseph's services and requested a partial refund of the retainer. After negotiation, $1000 was returned out of the $2600 paid (including the disputed consultation fee). The client also claims that the document eventually provided by Mr. Joseph was merely a handwritten letter they themselves had written, detailing the reasons for a delay in filing asylum (allegedly based on Mr. Joseph's recommendation), and that this letter was factually incorrect.
In a scathing summation, the reviewer accuses Mr. Joseph of "fraudulently represent himself as an experienced immigration lawyer," "padded the hours he spent doing 'research' etc.," and creating a situation where the asylum filing deadline was missed, potentially endangering the young man seeking asylum. The reviewer also claims they now have to hire another lawyer to rectify Mr. Joseph's alleged negligence and are seeking the return of the remaining $1600 of the retainer, stating they have written proof of these events.
The concluding recommendation from this reviewer is a stark warning to "stay away from Peter A Joseph Esquire," describing him as a "total fraud and a very poor lawyer with serious memory issues" based on their recent experience.
Given these serious allegations of lack of service, billing discrepancies, unprofessional conduct, and potential legal malpractice, local users in New York, as well as anyone considering hiring PETER ALAN JOSEPH, ESQ. from Japan or elsewhere, should exercise extreme caution. The information presented in these reviews raises significant concerns about the attorney's professional capabilities, ethical practices, and client communication.

Nov 27, 2024 · Nathaley RodriguezI went to Peter Joseph office early January to file for asylum fora young man who was seeking asylum. Mr Josephs office is in his rather old and unkempt apartment which is up 5 flights of very steep stairs. I gave him$100 in cash for the consultation which was advertised as free which he later claimed took 31/2hours and forwhich he charged $175 an hour. We also gave him a retainer of $2500 to which he added the $100 for the "Free Consultation" We only saw him about 3 times, once when he filled out the supposed Asylum application which he later claimed was written in his own illegible hand writing. He kept changing the times of our apointments in texts without any confirmation that we actually recieved them. The last apointment we made around January 6 which was just before the year to file for asylum was up, we went to his office at 4pm.He buzzed us in and when we opened the door he was in bed sleeping. He claimed we didnt have an apointment. And we had to leave because he was tired and we should come back the next day at 11 am. The next day he messaged that 2 pm would be better for him. I told him that we could not continue using his service and that he could keep $600 for his time and return $2000, which he refused. After haggling he returned $1000 and said he would give us any documents of ours he had at 2pm but then texted again that we could pick them up at a cleaners across for his apartment on Waverley Place. The document he returned was only a handwritten letter I had written detailing why the young man was late in filing for asylum which was on Mr Joseph's recommendation and was not even correct. In summation, Mr Joseph who is currently undergoing chemotherapy, fraudulently represented himself as an experienced immigration lawyer, padded the hours he spent doing "research" etc. and created a situation where not only are we over the time limit for filing for asylum, and he has put the young man in question in danger of being rejected for his asylum application, but we have now to pay another lawyer to undo his negligence. I have written proof of all of this and am now seeking the return of $1600 of his retainer. My recommendation is to stay away from Peter A Joseph Esquire. As per my recent experience, he is a total fraud and a very poor lawyer with serious memory issues.
