Feb 25, 2025 · Casey BarronMelody Petitt and Stacy Kline gave me the confidence I needed to navigate all the options available to me at a point where my marriage had undergone the equivalent of a nuclear explosion. Melody educated me about all my options and patiently addressed all my questions. Melody and Stacy kept communicating with me regularly, and I felt they cared about my outcomes. Their compassion mattered when I was still deciding whether to go left or right, let alone up or down! I think I saw another review that said Melody takes the bull by the horns, and I agree. She explains options and how the judges operate, which was information I needed to know. She is creative too! When I first called, I was still having trouble processing the crisis of the nuclear explosion, and she broke down what to expect scenario by scenario. Working with Melody and Stacy meant having a legal insurance plan. Having Petitt Family Law in my back pocket for advice and guidance during the 6 months when I was using every available resource was worth every cent! Having them in my back pocket as my legal advocates gave me peace of mind that was priceless.
Nov 25, 2024 · Cody ArvidsonMelody represented my ex-wife for an enforcement, modification and later an additional enforcement. It the case of the first enforcement, it was because my ex refused to divide the sales proceeds from a house we owned as we had previously agreed. To keep the sale moving, we agreed to have the funds go into Melody’s escrow account until we could have a court hearing which was fine with me as I knew I would win. As expected, I won in court and Melody was ordered to release the funds to me within 7 days. To my surprise, Melody refused to send me the money and it was only after threating legal action against her firm did she eventually comply. In the case of the modification, I won primary custody which was again no surprise. Melody did waste a lot of time with needless depositions, motions and hearings but perhaps that was to run up the bill of my ex or perhaps she was forced to do it by her client so no real beef on my side. For the final enforcement it was because my ex-wife missed some child support payments and didn’t reimburse me her share of expenses as ordered. Just before our court hearing we reached an agreement for her to send Melody money and Melody would pay me once I signed a release to keep my ex from jail time. Melody's release was written incorrectly so we had to go back and forth a couple times but not a huge deal. The issue became after I signed the release. Melody again refused to release the funds. I tried to call her office to get it resolved but she pretended to be someone else when she answered the phone. Eventually she did release the funds but it was a challenge. Perhaps she has financial issues and floats others money or perhaps she's just unethical - it's hard to know. I say all this to warn anyone that has a case with or against her – do not let her hold funds. She has a history of not releasing money as agreed. PS – If you see a reply from Melody saying she has never spoken to me or I raised my voice at her “staff” I can assure that is not accurate. I have been in the same room as her many, many times and know exactly what her voice sounds like and simply asked her to release the funds she was attempting to withhold which she has a history of doing both while she worked for Hargrave and now that she is own her own.
