My son needed a divorce attorney, and we were unsure where to start. After seeking advice from friends at work, I was directed to search for an "attorney for fathers' rights" online. We met with several attorneys, including Anna Prettyman, and from our very first conversation with Anna, we were impressed. Her compassion, attention to detail, knowledge, and professionalism were exceptional. She listened to our concerns and ensured all our questions were thoroughly addressed. Whenever we contacted Anna via email, she responded promptly and with genuine care. As my son began the divorce process, we faced another highly stressful situation where he needed an Order for Protection against his spouse. Anna explained the process, and once we agreed to proceed, she worked tirelessly to file for the OFP. Once again, Anna's compassion, care, and professionalism shone through. She skillfully guided us through this difficult time. Anna asked my son what he wanted and ensured she had his best interests at heart during the trial. Despite having to go to trial twice, my son ultimately achieved a favorable outcome. Anna always listened to my son and made sure she understood his wishes. She consistently checked in with us and encouraged us to reach out with any questions. We are immensely grateful to have Anna on our side and eagerly anticipate working with her through the divorce process. I wholeheartedly recommend the Anna Prettyman Law Firm without hesitation. One client review highlights positive aspects of their experience with Anna Prettyman. They were seeking an attorney for their son's divorce and were impressed from their initial consultation. The review praises Anna's compassion, attention to detail, knowledge, and professionalism. The client felt their concerns were heard and their questions were thoroughly addressed. They also noted Anna's prompt and caring responses to emails. During a stressful situation involving an Order for Protection, the client felt Anna skillfully guided them, prioritized their son's best interests, and listened to his wishes throughout two trials, ultimately achieving a favorable outcome. The client expressed immense gratitude and offered a strong recommendation for the Anna Prettyman Law Firm.
However, another client review presents a significantly different perspective. This client hired Anna Prettyman for divorce proceedings following an alleged physical assault by her ex-husband. She expresses disappointment with Anna's alleged reluctance to go to trial and a perceived failure to advocate for her best interests during mediation, claiming she was repeatedly urged to settle for her ex-husband's demands.
This client details issues with the timely drafting and submission of the divorce decree, despite an agreement made in court. She claims to have made numerous follow-up attempts over several months and experienced significant delays in receiving and finalizing the document. As a result, she alleges she was unable to return to Minnesota as planned, leading to a custody dispute where the judge initially allowed her ex-husband to keep their children in Minnesota following a private meeting she was not privy to.
Furthermore, this client alleges that her ex-husband avoided paying the divorce settlement by transferring securities, and she claims Anna Prettyman only sent one email regarding this issue without further follow-up. The client expresses feeling left without the funds to relocate and be with her children, describing Anna's conduct as "egregious" and showing a disregard for her and her daughters' well-being. She also states that Anna attributed the delays to communication with opposing counsel but refused to provide email correspondence or an itemized bill. This client strongly advises against hiring Anna Prettyman.
Considering these contrasting reviews, it is important for potential clients to weigh these experiences carefully. The first review highlights positive attributes such as compassion, attention to detail, and effective advocacy, particularly in matters involving fathers' rights and Orders for Protection. The second review raises serious concerns regarding communication, responsiveness, and advocacy in a complex divorce case involving allegations of abuse and financial complexities.
Features of Prettyman Law, based on the positive review, could include a client-focused approach, strong communication skills, and dedicated advocacy. However, the negative review suggests potential challenges in responsiveness, proactive communication, and assertive representation in all circumstances.
Promotional information is not explicitly provided. However, the positive testimonial could serve as a form of promotion, highlighting successful outcomes and positive client experiences in specific types of cases. Conversely, the negative review serves as a cautionary account.

Oct 16, 2024 · Savitrie PidanaOn March 8, 2023, my ex-husband physically assaulted me. The following morning, after contacting the police again for assistance, I relocated with my young daughters to my mother’s residence in Iowa, as I had no safe place to stay in Minnesota. I hired Anna to represent me in my divorce proceedings, paying her tens of thousands of dollars for her services. However, Anna was extremely reluctant to go to trial and failed to advocate for my best interests during mediation with my aggressive ex-husband, urging me over and over again to settle for his demands. I agreed to return to Minnesota by September 2024 to share 50/50 custody with my ex-husband, contingent upon him paying the property equalizer as part of the divorce settlement. Anna was supposed to draft and submit the divorce decree by May 23, 2024. Although she agreed to this in front of Judge Edwards on April 24, 2024, she did not follow through. I repeatedly contacted her throughout the month of June and finally received an initial draft on June 17, which I promptly reviewed and returned with notes. I reached out to Anna about this very issue on June 4, June 10, June 11, June 13, June 17, June 18, June 23, June 28, July 10, July 15, July 30, July 31, Aug 1, Aug 5, Aug 12, Aug 13, Aug 15. Despite all of these follow-ups, Anna delayed incorporating my and the opposing counsel’s notes until August 19. Due to Anna’s lack of responsiveness, the divorce decree was not finalized, preventing me from moving back to Minnesota as planned. My ex-husband refused to exchange custody of our daughters on September 1, leading to an emergency hearing where the judge allowed him to keep the children in Minnesota. This decision followed a private meeting between Anna, the opposing counsel, and Judge Edwards, during which I was not informed of the discussions. Anna claimed she informed the judge of my ex-husband’s abusive behavior, but said Judge Edwards was indifferent to the abuse. Instead of paying the divorce settlement as stipulated, my ex-husband transferred securities to avoid tax liabilities. Anna sent one email to the opposing counsel to address this issue but has not followed up since. This situation has left me without the necessary funds to relocate, impacting my ability to be with my children. Anna’s conduct has been egregious, showing a disregard for my and my daughters’ well-being. Anna attributed the delay in finalizing the divorce decree to extensive back-and-forth with the opposing counsel. When I requested all email correspondence and an itemized bill for her services, she refused. Do not hire her.

Jul 12, 2024 · Sterling Concrete & Masonry, LLCI wish I didn't have to give any stars. this attorney is horrible, her response time is 1-2 weeks. YES! she will take your retainer. not bill until the retainer is depleted then a week before court tell you she quits unless the retainer is replenished. she was worthless to our case. I would suggest you Run Run Run as fast as you can... you won't be represented well by Anna Prettyman!
