Environment and Accessibility

Progress Disability Lawyers, PLLC is situated in a professional office suite at 5473 Blair Rd Suite 200, Dallas, TX. This location suggests a standard professional office environment, designed to be accessible and comfortable for clients. While specific details about the interior aesthetics are not available, it is typical for a law firm specializing in disability claims to provide a supportive and understanding atmosphere. This would likely include a welcoming reception area, private spaces for confidential consultations, and an overall setting that promotes ease of discussion for individuals who may be experiencing significant health and financial challenges. The Dallas location ensures accessibility for clients residing within the city and the broader Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, likely offering convenient parking options for visitors.

Services Offered

Progress Disability Lawyers, PLLC (also referred to as Graves Law Group in the provided reviews, indicating a possible association or former branding for disability cases) specializes exclusively in Social Security Disability law. This focused expertise is crucial for navigating the intricate federal regulations and bureaucratic processes associated with disability claims. Their services typically encompass the entire spectrum of the disability application and appeals process:

  • Initial Application Assistance: While one review mentions that "Mr. Graves" only handles the hearing part, reputable disability law firms often assist clients from the very beginning of the application process. This involves helping individuals complete initial applications, gather necessary medical evidence, and ensure all required documentation is properly submitted to the Social Security Administration (SSA).

  • Reconsideration Appeals: If an initial application is denied, the firm assists clients in filing a Request for Reconsideration, which is the first level of appeal. This involves reviewing the initial denial, submitting additional evidence, and crafting a compelling argument for why the previous decision should be overturned.

  • Hearing Representation: This is a core service explicitly mentioned, where the firm represents clients before an Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) at a disability hearing. This involves preparing clients for testimony, presenting medical evidence, cross-examining vocational and medical experts, and advocating vigorously for the client's entitlement to benefits.

  • Appeals Council Review: If the ALJ denies benefits, the firm can pursue an appeal to the SSA's Appeals Council, arguing that the ALJ made a legal or factual error.

  • Federal Court Appeals: In cases where all administrative appeals are exhausted, Progress Disability Lawyers, PLLC can represent clients in federal district court, further pursuing their claim for benefits.

  • Gathering Medical Evidence: A critical component of disability claims, the firm actively assists clients in obtaining comprehensive medical records, reports from treating physicians, and other vital documentation to support their claim of disability.

  • Long-Term Disability Insurance Claims: While the primary focus is on Social Security Disability, many disability law firms also handle private long-term disability insurance claims, helping clients navigate the complexities of their private insurance policies.

The firm's specialization means they are well-versed in the specific criteria the SSA uses to determine disability, allowing them to build strong cases tailored to these requirements.

Features and Distinctions

Progress Disability Lawyers, PLLC distinguishes itself through its specialized focus and, based on the reviews, varied client experiences regarding its operational style. Key features and distinctions include:

  • Specialized Focus on Disability Law: By concentrating solely on Social Security Disability and SSI claims, the firm develops deep expertise in this complex area of federal law. This specialization can be a significant advantage for clients, as the intricacies of disability claims require specific knowledge and experience.

  • Contingent Fee Basis: Like most disability firms, Progress Disability Lawyers, PLLC likely operates on a contingent fee basis, meaning clients typically only pay a legal fee if their case is successful. The fee is then a percentage of the past-due benefits awarded. This makes legal representation accessible to individuals who may not have the financial means to pay upfront legal costs.

  • Client Intake and Communication (Positive Aspect): The positive review highlights the role of "intake specialist Amy" who is described as "kind, patient and really takes time to find out if they can help you with your case." This suggests a thoughtful and empathetic initial client interaction. The review also mentions "friendly knowledgeable legal expertise" and "sincere kind staff that keeps you updated along the way," indicating a positive experience with communication and support for some clients.

  • Experience at Hearing Level: The negative review clarifies that Mr. Graves primarily handles the "hearing part" of the claim. This suggests a strong focus on representation at the administrative hearing level, which is often the most critical stage for disability applicants.

Promotional Information and Reputation

The provided customer reviews offer a stark contrast in experiences, which significantly shapes the firm's perceived reputation and promotional message. This highlights the importance of thorough due diligence for potential clients:

  • Positive Promotion: The first review is highly promotional, emphasizing the firm's accessibility (after previous negative experiences with other firms), the kindness and attentiveness of intake specialist Amy, the thoroughness in gathering documentation, and the overall "friendly knowledgeable legal expertise." This review paints a picture of a supportive and efficient firm that genuinely helps people through a "long stressful process" and a "harrowing process." This positive feedback would likely attract clients looking for empathetic and communicative legal assistance.

  • Negative Feedback and Cautionary Note: The second review presents a highly critical and negative experience, focusing on perceived lack of communication, unresponsiveness from staff (Evelyn), and a unilateral decision by "Mr. Graves" to withdraw from the case without prior knowledge, especially when "nearing completion." The reviewer's strong sentiment, "Use this law firm at your own risk," and questioning the professionalism of a "Civil Rights Attorney" (possibly hinting at Mr. Graves' broader legal background or specialization) is a significant red flag. It suggests potential issues with internal communication, client management, and professional conduct for some clients. This negative feedback could deter potential clients who prioritize consistent communication and a sustained attorney-client relationship throughout the entire legal process.

For Progress Disability Lawyers, PLLC, the dual nature of these reviews means that while they successfully serve many clients with positive outcomes, there might be inconsistencies in client experience, particularly concerning communication and case handling, especially at the earlier stages of a claim. Their online presence, likely including their official website, would ideally attempt to balance or address these concerns, perhaps by outlining their case management processes more clearly or emphasizing different team roles. For local users in Dallas seeking disability legal help through "Lawyers Near Me," these reviews suggest that while the firm possesses specialized expertise, particularly at the hearing level, potential clients should conduct their own research and consider what level of communication and involvement they expect from their legal representation.

In summary, Progress Disability Lawyers, PLLC, located at 5473 Blair Rd Suite 200, Dallas, TX 75231, USA, and reachable at (214) 484-1930, specializes in providing legal assistance for Social Security Disability and SSI claims. While the firm receives praise for its knowledgeable and empathetic intake process and effective representation at later stages of a claim, some client experiences highlight challenges with consistent communication and case management. Their specialized focus in disability law makes them a relevant option for those navigating these complex federal benefit processes, but prospective clients should weigh the varied feedback when making their decision.

I received a form in the mail from Social Security. Every letter received from the Social Security Office. I have to contact them and let them know what is going on. I ask the operator to speak to someone else. Mr. Graves finally responds and talking like he confused. Like he know nothing about the case. He tell me he don't handle the initial phase of the claim. He only handle the hearing part. I hired this man a year ago. I hired this law firm to represent me. I have been calling them for 3 weeks to speak with someone about my claim. I was unable to speak with the paralegal handling my case so I contacted the Social Security Office. I have been waiting to hear from Evelyn because she been out the office with a return date of August 19th so I send Evelyn an email stating I would like a face to face appointment. I did not get a response from the emails or a callback. I call the office this morning. Evelyn is not available is what I was told. Then she send an email 2 minutes of being unavailable stating that Mr. Graves no longer represent me. What lawyer release themselves from a claim that is nearing completion without prior knowledge. Not a professional one. Use this law firm at your own risk. A Civil Rights Attorney. You have a funny way of showing your clients you are in their corner. Sincerely, Tee Jeffery

I’ve never done a review before, but in this case it was worthy! This has been a long & hard journey for me. I was about to give up and someone suggested I find an attorney to help me plea my case. I came to Google and searched for lawyers! Graves Law Office was the first Social Security lawyer that popped up in my search! I went with Graves Law Office and I don’t regret it. Chris Martinez and Luis were awesome at taking my calls and answering any questions I asked. They were very patient with me even the times I was frustrated and confused. Curtis won my hearing in 20 minutes! He’s amazing! I was overjoyed once the judge spoke the words “I don’t need to hear anymore, you’ve won your case” Curtis Graves Law Office was heaven sent in my situation and I will always be thankful for them defending me to the end! I will highly recommend this team! Their clients comes first!!! Thank you Graves Law Office! God Bless!!!!

Chris at Mr. Graves firm was very helpful with all of my questions. He spent over 20 minutes on the phone with me to make sure I fully understood everything. Mr. Graves represented my father in his Disabilty hearing, and his case was approved. I truly appreciate everything this office has done for my family.
