Avoid. Avoid. Avoid. I hired this firm for the first 1.5 years of my divorce process. During that time I was assigned three different lawyers. The first two were incompetent and fired/pulled from my case. The third lawyer was much better, but left for another practice (where I followed him). This law firm has extremely high turn over rates with all positions, so I assume it is poorly managed and has low morale. Expect Reel Fathers to keep the bills coming and constantly harass you by phone/email/text for payment. Don’t expect them to quickly answer legal questions or concerns. I am still waiting for my retainer balance to be sent nearly 2 months after firing them. In Summary, very expensive considering their services are poor and sometimes even embarrassing in court.

In such sensitive times, having a legal team that understands your unique circumstances and can advocate effectively on your behalf is crucial. In San Diego, Reel Fathers Rights APC is a law firm focused on providing legal support in family law, particularly emphasizing the rights of fathers.

Reel Fathers Rights APC aims to offer legal assistance for various family law challenges, recognizing the importance of comprehensive support during difficult transitions. Their focus is on navigating the intricacies of California family law to help clients achieve favorable outcomes. While their name highlights a specific area of interest, their services generally extend to various aspects of family legal proceedings. The firm understands that each family situation is unique, requiring tailored strategies and a compassionate approach.

The firm is committed to ensuring that clients feel heard, informed, and supported throughout their legal journey. Family law cases often involve deeply personal and emotionally charged issues, making clear communication and professional guidance paramount. Reel Fathers Rights APC strives to provide that clarity, helping clients understand their rights and the legal pathways available to them. Their dedication is to assist individuals in achieving resolutions that serve the best interests of their families.

Reel Fathers Rights APC is situated in a convenient and accessible location within downtown San Diego, making it reachable for clients from various parts of the city and the broader California region. Their address at 401 W A St, San Diego, CA 92101, USA, places them in a prominent business district. This central positioning is beneficial for clients, as it is typically well-served by public transportation options and is within close proximity to major freeways, facilitating easy commutes from different neighborhoods in San Diego County.

The firm’s location in a commercial area often means access to nearby amenities such as parking facilities, which can ease the stress of visiting a law office. Being in downtown San Diego also positions them conveniently near courthouses and other legal institutions, which can sometimes be advantageous in terms of logistical efficiency for ongoing legal matters. The accessibility of their office aims to reduce potential barriers for clients seeking legal counsel, allowing them to focus on their legal concerns rather than logistical challenges.

For those utilizing public transport, the downtown area is well-connected through bus routes and the San Diego Trolley system. This makes it a practical choice for clients who prefer not to drive or are coming from areas where public transit is a viable option. The professional setting of the office building also contributes to a sense of reliability and confidentiality, which is important when discussing sensitive family law matters. Reel Fathers Rights APC’s strategic location underscores their commitment to being available and reachable for their clientele.

Reel Fathers Rights APC offers a range of services centered around family law, with a particular emphasis on issues that often impact fathers. While specific legal needs can vary, the types of services typically provided by a firm specializing in family law may include:

  • Divorce and Separation: Guiding clients through the legal process of dissolving a marriage or registered domestic partnership, including property division, spousal support (alimony), and related financial considerations.
  • Child Custody and Visitation: Assisting in establishing or modifying custody orders, developing parenting plans that define decision-making responsibilities and visitation schedules, always with a focus on the child's best interests.
  • Child Support: Helping clients calculate and establish child support orders, as well as modify or enforce existing orders, ensuring fair and legally compliant arrangements.
  • Paternity Actions: Establishing legal fatherhood, which can be crucial for securing custody, visitation, or child support rights and obligations.
  • Modifications of Orders: Representing clients who need to modify existing court orders due to significant changes in circumstances, such as income changes, relocation, or evolving child needs.
  • Domestic Violence Restraining Orders: Providing legal assistance for individuals seeking or defending against domestic violence restraining orders, ensuring safety and legal protection.
  • Adoption: While not explicitly stated, some family law firms also handle adoption proceedings, helping individuals and families navigate the legal requirements for adoption.
  • Mediation and Alternative Dispute Resolution: Exploring out-of-court solutions to family law conflicts, which can often be less adversarial and more cost-effective for all parties involved.

Based on the provided customer reviews, here are some highlighted features and aspects of Reel Fathers Rights APC, noting both strengths and areas where clients have expressed concerns:

  • Professional and Informative Consultations: One significant highlight is the positive experience during initial consultations. Ms. Yvonne, as mentioned by a client, was described as "very professional and so informative," leaving the client feeling "so relieved" and "much more confident moving forward" after receiving her "insight, and reassurance." This indicates a strong initial client engagement and effective communication in understanding client situations and potential solutions.
  • Commitment to Customer Service: The positive review explicitly commends "wonderful customer service," suggesting that at least some members of the team prioritize client experience and responsiveness during the consultation phase.
  • Advocacy and Reassurance: For clients who have a positive experience, the firm provides a sense of reassurance and a clear understanding of potential actions. The feeling of confidence imparted by Ms. Yvonne's insight is a testament to this.

However, it is crucial to also acknowledge concerns raised in other feedback, as these are part of the public data provided:

  • High Attorney Turnover: A significant concern highlighted is the "extremely high turn over rates with all positions," with one client being assigned three different lawyers within 1.5 years. This can lead to a lack of continuity and potentially impact case progression.
  • Inconsistent Attorney Quality: The same client noted that the first two assigned lawyers were "incompetent and fired/pulled from my case," which raises concerns about the consistency of legal expertise provided.
  • Communication and Responsiveness Issues: Concerns were raised about the firm's responsiveness, stating, "Don’t expect them to quickly answer legal questions or concerns." This can be particularly frustrating in time-sensitive legal matters.
  • Billing and Retainer Management: There were mentions of "constantly harass you by phone/email/text for payment" and delays in returning retainer balances ("still waiting for my retainer balance to be sent nearly 2 months after firing them"), which indicates potential issues with financial management and client communication regarding billing.
  • Perceived Value for Cost: One client felt the services were "very expensive considering their services are poor and sometimes even embarrassing in court," suggesting a perceived mismatch between cost and the quality of legal representation in some instances.
  • Management and Morale Concerns: The high turnover was attributed by a client to the firm being "poorly managed and has low morale," which can affect overall service delivery.

Due to the nature of legal services and the competitive market, specific, ongoing "promotions" in the traditional sense are less common. However, law firms often offer certain initial benefits or transparent fee structures. It is always recommended to contact Reel Fathers Rights APC directly to inquire about their current policies regarding consultations or payment arrangements. Generally, reputable law firms may provide:

  • Initial Consultations: Many firms offer an initial consultation, which might be at a reduced fee or even complimentary, allowing potential clients to discuss their situation, understand their options, and determine if the firm is the right fit before committing financially.
  • Transparent Fee Structures: Firms typically discuss their fee arrangements clearly during the initial consultation. This could involve hourly rates, flat fees for specific services, or retainer agreements, ensuring clients understand the cost implications upfront.
  • Payment Plans: Depending on the case and client circumstances, some firms may offer flexible payment arrangements to help manage legal expenses.

I wish I had looked them up more before I hired them. Maybe they are good lawyers but you’re going to go broke before you find out. Lots of billed tasks that I didn’t ask for or end up needing. They treated me professionally and were available when I needed them but the more important things such as their strategy and how they treated my money were 1/5 stars. When I ended up separating from them to find other representation other lawyers where amazed by how much I had paid them for very little actual work done. If you have a billion dollars to waist I’m sure they can get the job done. But if you don’t . Stay away.

Okay let me start by saying I don't think this firm was worth half of what they charged me for mediocore work. During my time working with this firm I had three different attorneys. Heath Baker, James Rudolph, and Nakisha Sandy. Heath and James billed me for about 30,000 worth of work which was a complete waste of money. They double charged me for certain tasks or just lied and said they talked to me on the phone when they never did. I tried to dispute certain transactions but this office of course said all the charges were founded. They took off a lousy 50 dollars off my bill which was more of an insult then anything. When I went to court with Heath he didn't talk once and the judge gave us a verdict. Heath then proceeded to take credit for an outcome he literally had no say in. Heath misguided my case from the beginning which later negatively impacted the outcome. James was the worst attorney I worked with here after I was told "he was there best". The man lied about speaking to me on the phone multiple times and billed me for it and was terrible at responding to emails and fell behind on the tasks of my case. The only attorney worth her bill and was transparent with her work was Nakisha Sandy. I truly enjoyed working with her. She was kind, and hard working while being more passionate and aggressive with my case then the previous two "top attorneys supposedly" I had worked with prior. This firm sucks you in by resonating with the clients by talking about their own personal divorces. I honestly think most of it is bs because the men I worked with didn't treat my case with the care they should have and Heath treated me like I was guilty of my alleged charges when I was in a very vulnerable state of mind. I'm truly sorry I ever hired this firm some 50,000 dollars later and a subpar outcome. If you want to have your case mishandled, prolonged and not to mention be harassed by their billing department every few days then this is the place for you.

I had an extremely disappointing experience with this law firm. After my lawyer left to start their own practice, the firm became completely unprofessional. They mistakenly contacted me about a case that wasn’t mine, which was alarming. Despite telling me that they would refund my retainer within seven days, they failed to do so and ignored my attempts to follow up. When I finally reached someone, they hung up on me mid-conversation and continued to avoid my calls. Lastly, after they knew that I was going to continue on with my lawyer and his new firm, they sent me an email at 10:30pm on a Friday night telling me that they were going to inform the court I was representing myself. This level of unprofessionalism is unacceptable, and I would not recommend this firm to anyone. Also, I am STILL trying to get back the remaining funds from my retainer
