I sold a house using Attorney Jalbert as my attorney. The HUD statement took out last quarter's taxes from me even though I paid them one month earlier. I contacted the office admin at least 5 times over 6 months and she said she was waiting for the tax collector to return the money. Finally got fed up and called tax collector myself. Was told there was never a payment received from from them. Called back and asked to talk to him directly. He said a service company was holding onto the money and he will send me a check tomorrow. I don't buy that. Either there was incompetence and lazy lip service from the admin or outright attempt to cheat me figuring I wouldn't look over the paperwork and notice. If it wasn't intentional then the person who was supposed to check taxes didn't do their job. Most likely the admin that paid me lip service and lied that she was waiting for a refund. If I was him I'd fire her.

  • Property Disputes: Given their involvement in real estate, they may also assist with various property-related disputes, such as boundary issues, easements, or landlord-tenant matters.

Features / Highlights

When evaluating a law firm, both positive attributes and areas needing improvement contribute to a full understanding of their operational approach. Based on the provided customer reviews, here are some features and considerations for Robinson & Jalbert:

  • Real Estate Transactional Experience: The reviews specifically highlight their involvement in "selling a house" and "house closing." This indicates practical experience in real estate transactions, which is a core legal need for many individuals and businesses in Massachusetts.
  • Local Presence: Being located in Webster, MA, they are positioned as a local legal resource for the community, which can be convenient for clients seeking in-person consultations and localized expertise.
  • Areas for Client Communication and Administrative Process Improvement: The reviews strongly indicate significant challenges in client communication and administrative follow-up. Issues mentioned include:
    • Delayed and insufficient responses: "Took out last quarter's taxes... contacted the office admin at least 5 times over 6 months and she said she was waiting for the tax collector to return the money."
    • Inaccurate information/lack of verification: The client was "told there was never a payment received" when they contacted the tax collector directly, contradicting the admin's statement.
    • Lack of direct attorney communication: "Asked to talk to him directly... Most likely the admin that paid me lip service and lied that she was waiting for a refund." And, "The admin... never gives any messages to the attorney."
    • Incompetence in filing/follow-up: "The deed was registered incorrectly... still not properly filed. Absolutely no follow up and completely unprofessional."
    • Unprofessional conduct: "The admin is condescending, rude and never gives any messages to the attorney."
  • Need for Direct Oversight and Client Advocacy: The client experiences suggest a potential need for stronger attorney oversight of administrative processes and a more robust system for ensuring client inquiries are addressed accurately and promptly, especially concerning financial details and critical document filings.

These points suggest that while the firm may have the legal knowledge for certain areas like real estate, potential clients should be prepared to be highly proactive in their own follow-up and communication if they engage with this firm, and clarify communication protocols upfront.

Promotions or Special Offers

Publicly available information does not specify any ongoing promotions or special offers from Robinson & Jalbert. In the legal profession, it is generally uncommon for attorneys to advertise broad discounts or promotional packages due to the highly individualized nature of legal services. Fees are typically determined by the complexity of the case, the time invested, and the specific expertise required for each unique situation.

However, like many legal firms, they may offer an initial consultation. This first meeting might be provided at no charge or for a nominal fee. It serves as an opportunity for prospective clients to discuss their legal issue and for the firm to assess how they might assist. During this consultation, it is critically important to inquire thoroughly about fee structures, potential costs, and payment arrangements to ensure complete transparency and avoid any surprises. Given the client feedback regarding billing discrepancies and administrative issues, it is particularly advisable for potential clients to seek detailed clarification on all financial aspects and communication protocols upfront, and to maintain thorough personal records of all interactions and payments.
