A key feature often highlighted by firms like Rubin & Associates, P.C. is their commitment to compassionate and accessible legal support during financially distressing times. They aim to provide a guiding hand through what can be an overwhelming legal process. For a bankruptcy firm, effective communication and clear explanation of complex legal implications are paramount, as clients often have limited knowledge of bankruptcy laws and their potential impact on their future.
Customer reviews for Rubin & Associates, P.C. offer a sharply contrasted perspective, highlighting both positive and severely negative experiences. One positive review expresses significant gratitude: "I came into the office and met some great people to help with my needs. I was struggling with my business and creditors. Mr. Rubin and his staff have been extremely patient with me in my time of need. I will let the world know how happy I am with Mr. Rubin and his staff. Thank you." This review suggests a firm that provides patient, supportive, and effective assistance during difficult financial times, fostering a sense of relief and satisfaction.
However, a very detailed and highly critical negative review presents a deeply troubling account. This client describes filing bankruptcy with Rubin & Associates as a "huge mistake I will live to regret for the rest of my life," stating that their "credit and rental history are ruined." The core of the complaint revolves around a catastrophic failure in communication and legal advice regarding housing during the bankruptcy process. The client alleges that Mr. Rubin failed to inform them about potential housing discrimination post-bankruptcy and, more critically, provided incorrect reassurance about protection under the automatic stay. The review details a severe breakdown in communication where the firm allegedly failed to respond to a motion to lift the automatic stay, leading to its approval and a subsequent eviction notice, which the client learned about two months later. The client explicitly states: "This man said 'I’ll be honest, when you reached out to me, I did not know the automatic stay was lifted because I did not look at your case, and usually we don’t respond to motions to lift the automatic stay.' I cried so much." The client further describes a lack of assistance from other staff members, leading to homelessness and severe depression, and concludes with allegations of "TERRIBLE communication. Terrible ethics. 0/10 DO NOT RECOMMEND" and an intent to file a grievance with the bar association.
This stark contrast in reviews necessitates a cautious approach for prospective clients. While one review points to supportive and patient assistance, the detailed negative account highlights critical failures in communication, case management, and potentially misleading advice, leading to devastating consequences for the client. The specific allegations of not monitoring case status and not responding to crucial court motions are very serious and directly pertain to the ethical and professional obligations of a legal firm.
Promotional information for Rubin & Associates, P.C. would typically emphasize their expertise in bankruptcy law, their ability to help clients achieve debt relief, and their commitment to a "fresh start." They would likely highlight their experience in handling both Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 cases and their understanding of the emotional and financial stress associated with debt. However, given the nature of the negative review, any promotional claims about client care, communication, or effective case management should be viewed with an understanding of the contradictory experiences reported.
In conclusion, for local users in Dallas, TX, seeking assistance within the "Lawyers Near Me" category for bankruptcy and debt relief, Rubin & Associates, P.C. offers services in Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 filings. While some clients have expressed satisfaction with their patient and supportive approach, a highly detailed and severe negative review raises significant concerns regarding critical failures in communication, case management, and the potential impact on clients' livelihoods and housing. Prospective clients are strongly advised to exercise extreme caution, conduct thorough due diligence, and carefully evaluate the firm's communication practices and detailed case management strategies before engaging their services, potentially by seeking multiple consultations and clarifying communication protocols explicitly.

Mar 10, 2025 · Bernita SullivanFiling bankruptcy with Rubin & Associates was a huge mistake I will live to regret for the rest of my life. My credit and rental history are ruined and for what? I trusted Mr. Rubin with my time, my money, my lack of knowledge and basically my livelihood. He gives a great sales pitch I’ll tell you that, but when I told him I would be moving out of my apartment, at no time did he say I would be literally discriminated against when it comes to finding housing. If he had told me this, I would’ve renewed my lease before filing. When I realized this, I reached out to him 11/16 to ask if it would be possible to get more time in my apartment because I have not found a new place to live. I asked him if I could please petition with the bankruptcy court for more time. He reassured me multiple times that I was protected under the automatic stay, and the apartments would have to file a motion to lift the stay before they could evict me. Due to it being a weekend, I also reached out to Matthew Shipley for advice, who was very vague and dismissive. He outright told me “ I don’t know enough about the laws to advise you on a course of action.” Seriously? Anyway, I get a text message from my apartment manager stating an eviction was filed, but I never received a notice on my door. I blindly ignored her text because of what Mark Rubin told me. On 12/11 I received a letter stating the apartment complex received an approval from the court to lift the automatic stay 10/31!!, due to my Attorneys failure to respond. This was incredibly heartbreaking being that it was right before Christmas and I have children. I reached out to Mark again, rightfully upset at the lack of communication. This man said “I’ll be honest, when you reached out to me, I did not know the automatic stay was lifted because I did not look at your case, and usually we don’t respond to motions to lift the automatic stay.” I cried so much. The next day 12/12 I get an email from Deborah Blansett asking if I have moved because “the automatic stay has been lifted and the apartments can now file eviction” You communicate this to me 2 MONTHS LATER!!?!?! I told her NO! That is why I asked if I could ask the court for more time!!! No one at this office helped or communicated with me! NO ONE!! My children and I were homeless 1 week later while still having to make payments on my case. I fell into a depression because of this. I guess Mr. Rubin didn’t want to deal with me anymore, so he had Stacey Dlizarraga reach out to me asking for payments. I told her I could not make payments if I am spending hundreds on rental applications a week, and asked her to ask the trustee for a deferment or to convert to a Ch 7. Not surprisingly, She did not help me covert or inform me my case would be dismissed. She simply did not care. I had to reach out to her to find out what was going on. This has been a TRAUMATIC experience and I will be filing a grievance against this office with the bar association. Terrible communication. Terrible ethics. 0/10 DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Jan 22, 2025 · Mark MI called yesterday to get information on Bankruptcy. What I got was a rude lady giving me the 3rd degree and attitude. She said I needed to have a “coming to Jesus “ conversation with my wife. She asked if my wife worked and I told her she’s always been a homemaker. She proceeded to ask me question as to why not and how come my kids aren’t helping me. I didn’t call to. be talked down to , I called to be informed on my choices. It’s already not my proudest moment to be talking about my financial situation but to have someone criticize your situation is not what I expected or called for. I hope this HONOST review helps someone.
Mar 25, 2025 · Joe MartinezI prayed over finding a good honest attorney to take my case, I went as far as doing research on the BBB site. From the moment i walked through his office doors, the staff was so inviting. Mr Rubin was patient explained throughly to me about my case and was compassionate about my health issues. I have recommended him to a couple of church members, I realize this is a business but when you treat people with care it means so much. Thank you and your staff God's continued blessings upon you.
