Megan was a mediator for a case I am very close with. I read lacys review and thought I needed to let others know as well. Mediation was set for a full day, Megan only set herself for a half day not informing this until it was time for her to leave. She left well before mediation was even settled. The councils of the two parties are ultimately who got the job done on an agreement. A few days later she sent out an email I quote "I will assume" as if that's not what gets people in these cases in the first place is assuming. She lacks professionalism, she is rude, she is condescending and I would not advise anyone use her for their case.

Stowers & Weddle Introduce

For individuals and families in Indiana navigating challenging legal situations, selecting the right legal representation is a decision of paramount importance. Whether dealing with complex family matters, seeking resolution through mediation, or addressing other legal concerns, the expertise and professionalism of your chosen legal partner can significantly impact the outcome. Stowers & Weddle, a law firm located in Indianapolis, Indiana, offers legal services to those in need of legal guidance and dispute resolution.

The experiences of clients with Stowers & Weddle, particularly concerning attorney Megan, as highlighted in the provided reviews, present a mixed picture and offer important considerations for prospective clients. One detailed review describes a highly negative experience during a mediation, stating, "Megan was a mediator for a case I am very close with. Mediation was set for a full day, Megan only set herself for a half day not informing this until it was time for her to leave. She left well before mediation was even settled. The councils of the two parties are ultimately who got the job done on an agreement. A few days later she sent out an email I quote 'I will assume' as if that's not what gets people in these cases in the first place is assuming. She lacks professionalism, she is rude, she is condescending and I would not advise anyone use her for their case." This review clearly raises concerns about professionalism, commitment to the full mediation process, and communication style.

Another review echoes these sentiments regarding Megan's mediation services for a divorce case: "Megan served as the mediator in my divorce. She displayed clear bias towards my husband, and she was rude and unprofessional. I attempted to ask several questions during mediation regarding proceedings and custody agreements- at that time Megan’s tone of voice changed and she spoke to me as if I was incompetent. I chose to level this review just incase another person wants to use her as a mediator. She displays bias and lacks empathy." This review specifically points to perceived bias, rudeness, and a lack of empathy and professionalism, particularly when clients sought clarification.

These reviews, while representing specific experiences with a named attorney at the firm, highlight crucial aspects of client satisfaction and professional conduct in legal services. Prospective clients in Indiana are encouraged to take these perspectives into account and conduct thorough due diligence when considering Stowers & Weddle for their legal needs.

Stowers & Weddle is conveniently located at 626 N Illinois St Ste 201, Indianapolis, IN 46204, USA. This central Indianapolis address places the firm in a highly accessible area within the city, making it a practical location for clients throughout the metropolitan area and the wider Indiana region. Situated within a professional office building, the firm’s premises offer a dedicated space for client meetings and legal discussions.

The accessibility of this Indianapolis location is a notable benefit for Indiana residents seeking legal counsel. It is strategically positioned within reasonable proximity to major roadways, facilitating straightforward travel from various parts of the city and surrounding counties. For those utilizing public transportation, the office is often within comfortable walking distance of bus stops and other public transit options, providing convenient alternatives to driving. Furthermore, being located in downtown Indianapolis means close proximity to various courts, government offices, and other legal and professional resources that are often essential for handling legal cases, particularly those involving mediation and family law. This central and easily reachable location aims to provide convenient and efficient service to the entire Indiana community, minimizing any logistical burdens for clients during what can often be a challenging period in their lives.

Based on the provided client reviews, Stowers & Weddle appears to offer legal services, with a specific focus on:

  • Mediation Services: Both reviews explicitly mention Megan serving as a mediator for a case and a divorce. This indicates that mediation is a key service offered by the firm, where a neutral third party (the mediator) assists disputing parties in reaching a mutually acceptable agreement outside of court. This typically involves facilitating communication and exploring potential resolutions.

  • Divorce and Family Law: The reference to a "divorce" mediation strongly suggests that Stowers & Weddle handles family law cases, particularly those related to marriage dissolution and associated matters like custody agreements and financial settlements. Mediation is a common and often preferred method for resolving these types of disputes in family law.

  • General Legal Agreements and Dispute Resolution: The first review mentions that "The councils of the two parties are ultimately who got the job done on an agreement," implying that the firm is involved in reaching legal agreements and resolving disputes, whether through mediation or other forms of negotiation.

While the reviews specifically highlight mediation in family law contexts, a firm offering such services may also provide representation in other aspects of family law or related civil disputes. Prospective clients should directly inquire about the firm's full range of services to determine if they align with their specific legal needs.

Based on the provided customer reviews, Stowers & Weddle, particularly concerning the attorney Megan in her role as a mediator, exhibits several features that prospective clients in Indiana should be aware of:

  • Focus on Mediation: The firm clearly offers mediation services, specifically in the context of divorce and other legal cases. Mediation is intended to be an alternative dispute resolution method that can save time and costs compared to traditional litigation.

Key Considerations/Concerns Highlighted by Reviews:

  • Allegations of Lack of Professionalism: Both reviews explicitly state concerns regarding professionalism. Specific examples include leaving mediation early without prior notice and using accusatory language ("I will assume"). This suggests a potential area where the firm may not meet all client expectations for professional conduct during sensitive legal proceedings.

  • Concerns about Rudeness and Condescension: Clients reported experiencing rudeness and condescending tones, particularly when asking questions. This can significantly impact a client's comfort and ability to participate effectively in legal discussions, especially during emotionally charged mediations like divorce.

  • Allegations of Bias: One review specifically points to a "clear bias towards my husband" during divorce mediation. In mediation, neutrality is paramount, and any perception of bias can undermine the fairness of the process and a party's willingness to engage constructively.

  • Lack of Empathy: The absence of empathy was noted in one review, which is a critical trait for a mediator dealing with sensitive family matters. A lack of empathy can hinder the ability to build rapport and facilitate agreement between disputing parties.

  • Incomplete Mediation: The claim that the mediator left "well before mediation was even settled" and that "The councils of the two parties are ultimately who got the job done" suggests a potential for incomplete or insufficient facilitation of the mediation process by the mediator.

Prospective clients considering Stowers & Weddle for mediation or other legal services should carefully weigh these features and concerns and potentially seek further information or alternative options if these issues align with their priorities for legal representation.

As with most professional legal service providers, specific, publicly advertised "promotions or special offers" are not typically a common feature of Stowers & Weddle's operations. The value of legal services, especially in areas like mediation and family law, lies in the personalized expertise, strategic guidance, and the facilitation of resolutions for complex and often sensitive matters. Legal fees are typically structured based on the nature of the case, the time involved, and the complexity of the legal issues.

However, for prospective clients in Indiana who are considering legal assistance from Stowers & Weddle, it is common practice for law firms to offer initial consultations. These consultations serve as an opportunity to discuss your specific legal needs, understand the scope of your case, and learn how the firm might be able to assist you. While the provided information does not specify if these initial consultations are complimentary, offered at a reduced rate, or structured in another way, it is highly recommended to contact the firm directly to inquire about their consultation policy, fee structure for their services, and how they handle new client engagements. Direct communication is the most effective way to obtain accurate and personalized information regarding their services and to ascertain how they can best address your unique legal challenges.

For those in Indiana seeking legal assistance, connecting with Stowers & Weddle is straightforward:

  • Address: 626 N Illinois St Ste 201, Indianapolis, IN 46204, USA

  • Phone: (317) 636-6320

It is recommended to call ahead and schedule an appointment to ensure that an attorney or a member of their team is available to provide you with the focused attention and dedicated time necessary to discuss your legal concerns thoroughly.

For Indiana residents considering legal services, particularly in the realm of mediation and family law, Stowers & Weddle offers a centrally located office in Indianapolis, making it accessible for clients across the region. However, the suitability of this firm for locals will largely depend on individual priorities and a careful evaluation of the insights provided by client reviews.

The firm clearly provides mediation services, which can be a valuable tool for resolving disputes without resorting to full litigation. However, the detailed client feedback highlights significant concerns regarding professionalism, perceived bias, rudeness, and a lack of empathy on the part of one of its named attorneys during mediation. These are critical factors in sensitive legal processes like divorce, where a neutral, supportive, and thoroughly professional mediator is essential for achieving fair and lasting agreements.

Therefore, while Stowers & Weddle offers accessible legal services in Indianapolis, prospective clients in Indiana are strongly advised to consider the implications of the reported negative experiences. It is crucial to engage in thorough due diligence, including direct communication with the firm to discuss specific concerns and to ensure that their approach aligns with your expectations for professionalism, neutrality, and client care. This diligent approach will help locals make an informed decision when choosing legal representation.

I was referred to Megan from another colleague because I was representing myself. Megan jumped in on my case, got familiar with the details and what my objectives were. Megan worked very hard to to help me get the custody that I wanted. She was honest with me when I was being unreasonable and I trusted her advice. That trust was not unrewarded. It was a process that I probably screwed up by not getting counsel earlier, but she sorted my mess and fixed it all. Men if you want an awesome attorney that will fight for your rights as a father, Megan is not only up for the task, but she has the experience and the respect of her peers to do it. She is the family attorney you want.
