I wouldn't really recommend her just based off of my consult experience. My fiancé and I were trying to get our prenup drafted/edited. We had already spent hours creating this document together and agreed to everything. We just needed to have a lawyer look over it and make sure it was all legal and enforceable. The receptionist said that she would charge $225 for the consult which should have been half an hour and the hourly rate afterward would be $450 per hour. The receptionist also said that since we already did most of the work, Ms. Over would probably be able to get most of the details ironed out in the consult. This did not happen at all. I sent the 5ish page document over 24 hours prior to the consult. She said she hadn't been able to get a detailed look at it. So I was a a little upset with how unprepared she was when she asked me basic questions about what we had already included in the document. I will say that she at least was honest about the details of how the process should go, but the limited information given was not worth $225 in my opinion. She said that they require a retainer of $2000 and that any unused portion would be refunded. I wasn't really looking to set up a whole legal file and set up a divorce case. We just wanted to make sure the document was legal. Maybe I'm wrong, but it just seemed crazy to pay that much for someone to look over and edit a document that most of the legwork was already done on.
Navigating the legal landscape can be a significant undertaking, and finding the right attorney is a crucial first step. Within the "Lawyers Near Me" platform, we present information regarding Susan C. Over, P.C., Attorney at Law, located at 300 N Market St #205, Wilmington, DE 19801, USA. This introduction aims to provide local users with an objective overview of the firm based on available online information, specifically focusing on client experiences related to their services and practices.
Susan C. Over, P.C., Attorney at Law, operates from an office in Wilmington, Delaware. While details about the physical environment of the office are not provided in the available reviews, it is important for potential clients to consider the accessibility and professionalism of a law firm's location. The office at 300 N Market St suggests a presence within a commercial area of Wilmington.
Based on the limited review information, it appears that Susan C. Over, P.C., Attorney at Law offers legal consultation services. One review specifically mentions seeking assistance with the drafting and editing of a prenuptial agreement. The consultation fee was reported as $225 for a scheduled half-hour, with a subsequent hourly rate of $450. The review indicates that the client had prepared a significant portion of the document beforehand and was primarily seeking legal review and assurance of its enforceability. However, the client expressed dissatisfaction with the preparedness for the consultation, noting that the attorney had not thoroughly reviewed the document sent in advance and asked questions about details already included. This suggests that while consultation is offered, the experience might vary depending on the specific needs and expectations of the client.
The review also sheds light on the firm's retainer policy. It was mentioned that a $2000 retainer was required, with any unused portion to be refunded. For the client seeking a simple review of a pre-existing document, this was perceived as excessive, as they were not looking to establish a full legal file typically associated with more extensive legal proceedings like divorce cases. This suggests that the firm's standard practice might involve a more comprehensive engagement model, potentially impacting clients with more limited legal needs.
Another crucial aspect highlighted in the reviews is the area of client communication and responsiveness. One potential client, referred by a former paralegal, reported leaving two detailed messages over a five-month period without receiving any call back. Attempts to contact the firm through a message app (Avvo) were also reportedly ignored. This lack of response raises concerns about the firm's client communication practices and their accessibility to potential clients. Effective communication is a cornerstone of a positive attorney-client relationship, and these experiences suggest a potential area for improvement.
Considering the features of Susan C. Over, P.C., Attorney at Law based on the available information, it's important to note the reported consultation fee and hourly rate, which could be a significant factor for individuals budgeting for legal services. The required retainer fee for more comprehensive services is also a feature to consider, as it might influence the overall cost of legal representation. The reported lack of responsiveness to inquiries is a significant point for potential clients who value clear and timely communication.
Regarding promotional information, none is explicitly provided in the text. The reviews primarily focus on the consultation experience and communication aspects rather than highlighting specific promotions or unique selling points of the firm. Therefore, potential local users will need to rely on their own direct interaction and further research to understand any specific promotions or areas of specialization that Susan C. Over, P.C., Attorney at Law might offer.
In conclusion, based on the limited online reviews, Susan C. Over, P.C., Attorney at Law in Wilmington, DE, offers legal consultation services, as evidenced by the prenuptial agreement consultation experience. However, potential clients should be aware of the reported consultation fee, hourly rate, and retainer policy. Additionally, the reported issues with responsiveness to inquiries should be taken into consideration when deciding whether to engage their services. It is advisable for local users to conduct further research and potentially seek an initial consultation to assess if the firm's approach aligns with their specific legal needs and expectations. The information available does not provide a comprehensive picture of all services offered or the firm's overall success rate in various legal matters, so further due diligence is recommended.

Nov 21, 2024 · Bud LoI was referred by a former paralegal of Susan Over to use her services. I have left 2 detailed messages in the last 5 months. I received 0 call backs. I also used her message app, Avvo and it was also ignored.
Jan 22, 2025 · Walter CharowskyHired Mrs. Over for a PFA case in 2021 when my now ex-wife filed a frivolous claim against me including a very serious allegation of “hitting her in the head with a balled up pair of socks”. During the course of her counsel, I do not feel as if I was very informed about the long lasting ramifications of entering a “plea deal” agreement in this instance. Whereas I thought nothing of agreeing to stay away from my ex-wife (since I did not want to be near her anyway), I should have fought every single line in this frivolous allegation in front of an open court. For example, when you enter an agreement in this type of case, you may as well be admitting guilt and it WILL BE USED AGAINST YOU IN ALL FUTURE PROCEEDINGS. Case in point, the Family Court judge for mg child custody case once in open court stated “There are very serious allegations of abuse” stemming only from this bogus PFA that I entered into an agreement of. This info would have been particularly useful to be made aware of when pursuing child custody of any kind (2.5 years later I am still fighting to see and/or talk to my two young children in any capacity. Mrs. Over laid out my case to me as such, “Since your daughter is also named in this PFA, you basically have two options…fight it and risk not being able to see your 3.5 year old daughter for a year if decided not in your favor or just agree not to go around your ex-wife for a year and visit your kids using supervised visits”. This seemed like a no brainer to me as I did not wish to go around my ex-wife as I in fact left her and also thought supervised visits would be good for my own protection as well. As it turns out…agreeing to any terms of a PFA (thought not in law but definitely in every other aspect) makes you guilty as charged and additionally by using any supervised visit agency you are also treated this same way. To reiterate here, my main complaint with Mrs. Over would be that she was in my opinion bad counsel in that I think she is much more aware of how the justice system works against divorced fathers and its intricacies in those regards. I think either through laziness or incompetence she did not iterate to me all of the potential long term pitfalls or otherwise that could come into play with each choice that was made in this instance. Law is Mrs. Overs area of expertise whereas I have never dealt with this specific thing before and should have done more research on my own to know which questions to ask I suppose? My apologies for the long review but I felt there needed to be some backstory so that if anyone else is reading this review in the same situation, you may pick up at least a wee bit of knowledge that neither this lady nor my next atty in same case thought pertinent to disclose.
Feb 22, 2024 · MattShe's so sweet but when she starts litigating she's a shark. I called her when I was 30 days out from the second part of my custody hearing. I Had gone through two attorneys previously and they made my case worse. I was on the verge of filing for bankruptcy and I did not have a lot of options. Not only was I on a time restraint but I had moved out of Delaware for work. Susan was my savior. My ex husband and his family played the game well and made themselves look perfect to the courts. Susan was able to discredit their lies within a few minutes of talking to them. She even had my schizonprenic ex husband have a fit on the stand. By the end of the day I knew I had won. My family and I had gone through four years of court battles to win in the end. She not only gave me my livelihood back but was able to restore my family. She is the attorney we all need.
Feb 24, 2022 · BI started with Miss Over as a Pro bono case. So whatever she said went ahead with that. She keep on assuring me that she will take/ get her fees from my ex and won’t take anything from me. Me being very naive in this went ahead with her and her staff. Didn’t know that whether you contest or not, ultimately you will get divorced no matter what. She never informed me that. She gave me the impression that by contesting there is a chance that you will win and they will deny my ex’s divorce petition. That went on for two years. She had a game plan from the beginning to get as much money as she and her paralegal can from my ex and me. Paid more than 3000 just to file to get the attorney fees from my ex, which she didn’t win.. When she saw that my ex had money she kept on making me file all kinds of cases.. I was not worried because she assured me that she will take the fees from my ex. I have got only the same settlement as I got if I would have done self filing or may be with an attorney for a few thousand dollars. When I got the settlement from my ex, I paid almost or more than 25000 to her in total with the agreement that she will finish off what ever is going on with then. She not only didn’t finish it off, but asked for more money to represent me when bigger issue arise from my ex... She is a very sweet person and anybody will fall for her personality. But I won’t recommend her to even my enemies. She misled me and misinformed me to get money. Most of the time she is not prepared. She ask me questions when she come to the court for hearing. No calling and discussing about it in a previous day or nothing. Total waste of money!
