Court appointed and the worst thing to happen to me. I kept telling him I want to fight my charges. He still pressed a deal... worst decision ever. I just lengthen my time dealing with the Court.i might still end up in jail. I cant get a job but they want money every month. My own attorney was listed as a witness.. huh??. The state had no evidence but he kept saying. I DONT BELIEVE YOU. MY ATTORNEY. Worst mistakes of my life.

This introduction aims to provide an objective overview of his practice, including his environment, services, features, and insights drawn from available client reviews, acknowledging the contrasting perspectives presented. It is important to note that the provided information primarily consists of highly divergent client testimonials, which will be presented to give a balanced, objective introduction.

Mr. Telthorst's office is located at 816 Ann Ave, Kansas City, KS 66101, USA. This address places his practice within Kansas City, Kansas, suggesting a focus on serving the local community. A location on Ann Avenue indicates an established presence within the city. For direct communication, clients can reach Mr. Telthorst by phone at (913) 281-2080 or via mobile at +1 913-281-2080. These contact options aim to ensure accessibility for potential and existing clients seeking legal assistance.

Based on the client reviews provided, Telthorst Thomas R appears to primarily engage in criminal defense work, often in the capacity of a court-appointed attorney. This suggests his services likely encompass representing individuals facing various criminal charges. In such a role, an attorney is responsible for:

  • Providing legal counsel to defendants.
  • Developing defense strategies.
  • Negotiating with prosecutors.
  • Representing clients in court proceedings, including hearings, trials, and sentencing.
  • Advising on pleas and potential outcomes.
The nature of court-appointed cases often involves representing individuals who may not have the means to hire private counsel, making the attorney's role critical in ensuring access to justice for all. The scope of services would inherently be dictated by the specific charges and the judicial process involved in each case.

The distinctive features of Telthorst Thomas R's practice, as perceived by clients, are highly varied and present a complex picture. These features are best understood by examining the contrasting perspectives offered in the testimonials:

One client describes a profoundly negative experience, stating that Mr. Telthorst was "the worst thing to happen to me." Key concerns raised include:

  • Perceived lack of advocacy: The client felt their desire to "fight my charges" was disregarded, as the attorney "still pressed a deal." This suggests a perception that the attorney's strategy conflicted with the client's wishes, potentially leading to an outcome the client regretted.
  • Doubt and skepticism: The client claims Mr. Telthorst repeatedly said, "I DONT BELIEVE YOU. MY ATTORNEY," even when the state allegedly had "no evidence." This highlights a severe breakdown in trust and confidence between attorney and client, a critical component of effective legal representation.
  • Negative impact on personal life: The client reports that the outcome led to "lengthen my time dealing with the Court," potential jail time, and inability to "get a job but they want money every month." This indicates a perception of adverse consequences directly linked to the attorney's handling of the case.
  • Conflict of interest concern: The phrase "My own attorney was listed as a witness.. huh??" raises a serious ethical concern for the client, implying a potential conflict of interest or a highly unusual procedural circumstance that caused alarm.

Conversely, another client offers a strongly positive and appreciative perspective, stating:

  • Strong advocacy: This client emphasizes that Mr. Telthorst "stood up for me to where he made me believe in myself" and "didn't settle for what the prosecutor was trying to give me." This depicts an attorney who is a zealous advocate, fighting for the client's best interests against prosecutorial pressure.
  • Life-changing impact: The client attributes a significant positive turn in their life to Mr. Telthorst's representation: "My life had changed for the better every since he represented me." This suggests a highly successful outcome that profoundly improved the client's circumstances.
  • Gratitude and belief: The client expresses immense gratitude, stating, "Next to God I thank him for this man. Thank you so much Mr Telthorst!!" This indicates a deeply felt sense of positive impact and trust in the attorney's capabilities and dedication.

The contrasting nature of these reviews makes it challenging to definitively characterize Telthorst Thomas R's features without further information. However, it objectively indicates that client experiences with him can vary significantly. One perspective suggests a potentially disempowering and detrimental experience, while the other describes an empowering and life-changing one. This variation might stem from the complexities inherent in court-appointed cases, individual client expectations, the specific facts of each case, or differing communication styles and rapport between attorney and client. It is a common characteristic of attorneys in high-stress fields like criminal defense to receive a wide spectrum of feedback, as outcomes can be deeply personal and impactful.

Regarding promotional information, there is no explicit marketing or sales data provided. In the context of "Lawyers Near Me," the client testimonials, despite their divergence, serve as the primary source of information for potential clients. For individuals seeking legal representation, especially court-appointed, these reviews highlight the potential for both highly successful and deeply challenging experiences. The positive review underscores the possibility of finding a highly dedicated and effective advocate in Mr. Telthorst, one who can profoundly change a client's life for the better by fighting vigorously on their behalf. Conversely, the negative review suggests that some clients may experience a disconnect or dissatisfaction with the representation, particularly concerning strategic decisions and communication. Therefore, the "promotional" aspect here is primarily the direct, unfiltered feedback from past clients, which presents a dual narrative for those considering his services.

In conclusion, Telthorst Thomas R is a legal professional based in Kansas City, Kansas, available for legal services primarily in criminal defense, often as a court-appointed attorney. His office is located at 816 Ann Ave, and he is reachable via phone. The distinguishing features of his practice are presented through highly contrasting client testimonials: one portraying him as a staunch, life-changing advocate who fights tirelessly for his clients, and the other describing a deeply unsatisfactory experience marked by a perceived lack of client advocacy and trust issues. These varied accounts mean that individuals considering Telthorst Thomas R as their "Lawyer Near Me" would encounter a professional with a demonstrated capacity for both highly impactful positive representation and, in some instances, significant client dissatisfaction. Potential clients would need to weigh these diverse experiences when making their decision.
