Attorney Smith is a great lawyer and a good person and he knows the law! When my son got in trouble I called around for help with his case. One lawyer told me that he didn't like working with schizophrenic clients. My heart was already broken and his words hurt even more. I got in-touch with Attorney Smith. He offered me honest hope and met with me to discuss my son's case. His fee was quoted fairly and I appreciate that. He did a wonderful job working with the prosecutors office--which is not easy to do in Clayton County. He treated my son with honesty, sensitivity and respect. He kept me informed and returned my text and phone calls as soon as he could. He fought to get my son the best possible outcome, the help that he needs and to keep him out of prison. God worked a miracle through this man and I am grateful!!

Welcome to "Lawyers Near Me," your platform for finding legal professionals in your local area. Today, we present an introduction to The Law Offices of Vernon H. Smith III, located at 118 North Ave # C, Jonesboro, GA 30236, USA. This law office has received mixed but insightful feedback from online reviews, providing potential clients with varying perspectives on the services offered. We aim to present an objective overview based on these experiences to help local users make informed decisions.

The address, 118 North Ave # C, places The Law Offices of Vernon H. Smith III in Jonesboro, Georgia, specifically on North Avenue. The designation "# C" suggests a suite within a commercial building or office complex. While specific details about the office environment, such as its size or internal atmosphere, are not provided in the reviews, a location within a commercial area typically indicates a professional setting for client meetings and legal consultations. Accessibility for residents of Jonesboro and the surrounding areas would be a relevant factor for potential clients.

Based on the available client reviews, we can glean some insights into the potential areas of law handled by The Law Offices of Vernon H. Smith III:

  • Criminal Defense: Both reviews directly involve criminal cases. One review pertains to a son facing legal trouble, and the other details a son's aggravated assault and battery case. This strongly suggests that criminal defense is a significant area of practice for this law office.
  • Mental Health Law (Potential): One review specifically mentions a situation involving a client with schizophrenia, and the positive experience highlights Attorney Smith's willingness to work with such clients, suggesting some sensitivity or experience in cases involving mental health considerations within the legal system.
  • Aggravated Assault and Battery Defense: One review explicitly details representation in an aggravated assault and battery case, although the outcome was viewed negatively by the client.

The two available client reviews offer contrasting perspectives on the services provided by The Law Offices of Vernon H. Smith III:

  • Positive Review Highlights:
    • Compassionate and Understanding: Attorney Smith is described as a "good person" who offered "honest hope" during a difficult time.
    • Knowledgeable of the Law: The reviewer states that Attorney Smith "knows the law!"
    • Fair Fees: The quoted fee was considered "fair" and appreciated by the client.
    • Effective Negotiation: Attorney Smith is credited with doing a "wonderful job working with the prosecutors office" in Clayton County, which is noted as being challenging.
    • Respectful and Sensitive Treatment: The client's son was treated with "honesty, sensitivity and respect."
    • Communication: Attorney Smith kept the client informed and promptly returned calls and texts.
    • Advocacy for Best Outcome: He "fought to get my son the best possible outcome, the help that he needs and to keep him out of prison."
  • Negative Review Highlights:
    • Dissatisfied with Outcome: The reviewer felt that Vernon Smith "did not help my son at all" in his aggravated assault and battery case, resulting in a 20-year sentence.
    • Belief in Lack of Self-Defense Understanding: The reviewer expressed a belief that "Georgia doesn't have any self defense laws" based on the outcome of the case.
    • Allegations of Bias and Unfairness: The reviewer accused the judge and prosecutor of bias and unfairness in the handling of the case.
    • Concerns about Hearsay and Jury Influence: The reviewer expressed concerns about the use of hearsay and potential undue influence on the jury.
    • Focus on Acting Skills Over Justice: The reviewer concluded that the outcome was more about "which attorney has the best acting skills" than guilt or innocence.

The stark contrast between these two reviews highlights the complexity of evaluating legal services based on limited feedback. The positive review emphasizes Attorney Smith's compassion, legal knowledge, fair pricing, effective negotiation, and dedication to his client. The negative review, while emotionally charged and focused on the perceived unfairness of the judicial system, directly states a lack of help from Attorney Smith in a specific case with a severe outcome.

When considering The Law Offices of Vernon H. Smith III, local users should carefully weigh these differing experiences. The positive review suggests a capable and caring attorney, particularly in navigating the complexities of the legal system and working with clients facing serious charges, including those with mental health challenges. The negative review raises concerns about the effectiveness of representation in a specific type of case and expresses strong dissatisfaction with the overall legal process and outcome.

Promotional Information (Based on Positive Review):

Important Considerations for Potential Clients:

Given the significant difference in the two available reviews, potential clients should consider the following:

  • Inquire About Specific Experience: If you have a case similar to the aggravated assault and battery described in the negative review, it would be prudent to inquire specifically about Attorney Smith's experience and track record in such cases.
  • Seek Additional Reviews or References: Look for other online reviews or ask the law office for client references to gain a broader understanding of client experiences.
  • Discuss Case Strategy in Detail: During a consultation, discuss the potential strategies for your case in detail and ensure you understand the approach the attorney plans to take.
  • Consider the Complexity of Legal Cases: Understand that the outcome of any legal case can be influenced by numerous factors, including the specific facts, the applicable laws, and the decisions of judges and juries. A negative outcome does not always solely reflect the performance of the attorney.

In conclusion, The Law Offices of Vernon H. Smith III in Jonesboro, GA, presents a mixed picture based on the limited online reviews. While one client praised Attorney Smith for his knowledge, compassion, and effective representation in a challenging criminal case, another expressed extreme dissatisfaction with the outcome of an aggravated assault and battery case. Local users considering this law office should carefully weigh these perspectives, conduct further research, and engage in thorough discussions about their specific legal needs and expectations before making a decision.

Vernon Smith did not help my son at all with his aggavated assault and battery case. Perpetrator tried to climb through my son's window threatening him, and then eventually opened and tried to come through the front door. My son stopped the perpetrator at the door and stabbed him with a knife. I guess Georgia doesn't have any self defense laws. The bias and unfair Aaron Mason gave my son 20 years with only one misdemeanor on his record. Our friends and family in California just knew it was a white judge that sentenced him t 20 years. I told them no - it was a black judge which are worst than the white ones. They are brainwashed to lock up all their own people. I found out after the fact that Mason sentenced my son to 20 years because the prosecutor Tasha Mosley was getting all her information from the perpetrator's mother (whos envy and jealousy of me got her other son killed). I did not know the court system goes by hearsay saying it was over money. It had nothing to do with money. I wonder what Mason kept going back there telling the jury. He wanted my son to be found guilty before the trial even started. Mason and Mosley will be judged by the real great Judge one day. If someone tried to break into their homes with little children present I wondered what they would have done? I see now it is not about being guilty or innocent. It's about which attorney has the best acting skills. My son is so sweet that he said he forgives the perpetrator's mother, and Mason. He has had nothing but good behavior while in that hell hole that they call prison!

Mr. Vernon is A1. He helped me 2 different times before. I’m grateful for his affordability and due diligence. If you’re in Clayton or Fayette county, I would strongly recommend using him as an attorney. Once again, thank you Mr. Smith.

My Nephew had 26 felony charges pending against him in Clayton County. I hired Mr. Vernon Smith and my nephew ended up with only one misdemeanor and a few months probation. I have no idea why there no other reviews here for Mr. Smith as he is a talented, smart and excellent attorney. He went from the calm gentleman in his office to a fierce attorney in the court room. Before hiring Mr. Smith, I prayed about it, as we had several other attorney's on a list to speak with, but once I got to him God told me the search was over. I've dealt with numerous attorney's over my life span, Mr. Vernon Smith is one of, if not the best I've ever hired. If you need a good attorney, affordable that will fight for your rights, call him. The system ain't no joke.
