Union County Legal Services Introduce

For individuals and families in Elizabeth, New Jersey, and the surrounding areas seeking legal assistance, the "Lawyers Near Me" platform features Union County Legal Services, located at 60 Prince St # 202, Elizabeth, NJ 07208, USA. With contact numbers (908) 354-4340 and +1 908-354-4340, this organization aims to provide legal support to the community. However, the limited information available online, including two contrasting customer reviews, suggests a nuanced understanding is necessary when considering their services.

Situated on Prince Street in Elizabeth, Suite 202 of the building housing Union County Legal Services likely offers a professional space for client interactions. As a legal services organization, their environment might differ from a private law firm, potentially reflecting a focus on accessibility and community service. The Elizabeth location provides a central point of contact for residents within Union County and nearby areas in New Jersey who are searching for "Lawyers Near Me," particularly those who may be seeking more affordable legal options.

The provided information includes two customer reviews that offer significantly different perspectives on Union County Legal Services. One review expresses strong dissatisfaction, stating, "The worst experience every time I talk to them and it’s all involves the same issue. Get your money up and pay for a real lawyer, they do not care here." This review raises serious concerns about the level of care and effectiveness of the services provided, suggesting that individuals with the means to afford private counsel might be better served elsewhere. The phrase "Get your money up and pay for a real lawyer" implies a perception of Union County Legal Services as being inadequate or less effective compared to private attorneys.

In contrast, the second review offers a positive experience, stating, "Georgia did a great job helping my husband with his questions and understanding our case!" This review highlights a specific positive interaction with an individual named Georgia, who was helpful in addressing questions and facilitating understanding of a legal case. This suggests that while some clients may have negative experiences, others can find valuable assistance through this organization. It is important to consider that experiences with legal services can vary depending on the specific case, the individual providing assistance, and the client's expectations.

Given the limited and conflicting nature of the available reviews, it is challenging to definitively outline the specific legal services provided by Union County Legal Services. However, the name itself suggests that they likely offer a range of legal assistance, potentially focusing on areas where low-income individuals and families often require support. These areas might include:

  • Family Law: Assistance with divorce, child custody, domestic violence issues, and related matters.
  • Housing Law: Support for tenants facing eviction, dealing with landlord disputes, or seeking assistance with housing rights.
  • Public Benefits: Guidance and representation related to social security, unemployment benefits, and other public assistance programs.
  • Consumer Law: Help with issues such as debt collection, unfair business practices, and consumer rights.
  • Immigration Law: Legal assistance with immigration matters, potentially including asylum, deportation defense, and visa applications.
  • Other Civil Legal Issues: Providing support in various other areas where individuals may face legal challenges and lack the resources for private counsel.

As a legal services organization, a key feature of Union County Legal Services is likely to be their focus on providing affordable or free legal assistance to those who qualify based on income and other criteria. This can be a significant benefit for individuals who cannot afford private legal representation. However, as suggested by one of the reviews, their resources and capacity may be limited, potentially impacting the level of personalized attention or the outcome of some cases. The availability of specific services may also depend on the organization's funding and the expertise of their staff and volunteer attorneys.

In terms of promotional information, the very existence of Union County Legal Services serves as a form of community outreach, indicating the availability of legal assistance for those who may not have other options. The inclusion of their physical address and direct phone numbers makes it easy for potential clients in Union County to reach out for help. For individuals who believe they meet the eligibility criteria for their services, contacting them directly at (908) 354-4340 or +1 908-354-4340 is the recommended first step to inquire about the types of assistance they offer and the requirements for eligibility.

For local users in Elizabeth and the surrounding areas considering Union County Legal Services, it is important to be aware of the contrasting feedback from the limited available reviews. Potential clients should:

  • Contact Union County Legal Services directly: Call (908) 354-4340 or +1 908-354-4340 to inquire about the types of legal services they provide and whether they handle cases similar to yours.
  • Ask about their eligibility criteria: Understand the requirements for receiving their services, such as income limitations or residency requirements.
  • Inquire about the process of receiving assistance: Learn about their intake procedures, how cases are assigned, and the level of representation you can expect.
  • Ask about the qualifications and experience of the staff or attorneys who would be handling your case: Understand their expertise in the relevant area of law.
  • Be prepared to provide detailed information about your legal issue and your financial situation: This will help them determine if they can assist you.
  • Consider seeking second opinions or exploring other options if you have concerns based on the negative review: If you are able to afford private counsel, it may be beneficial to compare the services offered by Union County Legal Services with those of private attorneys.

In conclusion, Union County Legal Services in Elizabeth, NJ, serves as a potential resource for individuals seeking affordable legal assistance in the area. While one positive review suggests helpfulness in at least one instance, a negative review raises concerns about the overall quality of service. For local users who meet the eligibility criteria for legal aid, contacting Union County Legal Services directly is the necessary step to understand the scope of their services and determine if they can effectively address your legal needs. It is advisable to approach with realistic expectations and to explore all available legal options to ensure you receive the representation that best suits your situation.

Georgia did a great job helping my husband with his questions and understanding our case!

The lady at the front desk with the reddish burgundy hair , was very unhelpful and rude, I went there for a simple question and ONLY NEEDED a verbal answer, BUT OF COURSE people don't take pride in there job. There are people that come here in need of simple answers and it's pointless for someone to be there and not want to help people in need, they ought to replace her with someone that doesn't mind helping people in need without giving attitude. She was very unprofessional.

Unfortunately my experience has not been great. And I could have been in a bad situation. I Was giving a scheduled appointment and no one never called for the appointment. Called back day of appointment and was told lawyer busy. Lawyer call me two days later in late afternoon while I was out and said she can help but I needed my paperwork in front of me. Again I was out. I said I would call back once I can get home which at that time was in the evening. I never heard back from them until two weeks later and the same lawyer asked “Did I still need help” I told her no at this point. (THIS WAS A TIME SENSITIVE MATTER OF THREE DAYS) from the date of my SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT. Shame on you UNION COUNTY LEGAL SERVICES.
