I am so disappointed in the quality of customer service from We The People. Jayne was always kind when I was able to have a conversation with her. I had a very simple matter that should have taken no more than 6 months to file and complete. I petitioned in October 2022 and finally had to find a new paralegal in December 2023 to take over my case. There was little to absolute no communication from anyone at this business. I would wait months and send many follow-up emails as well as voicemails before I would receive anything. For how much stress I was already under this business did not help. Many times their phone would be out of order/ disconnected. I have gone to the building during operating hours and the door would be locked. I am not an impatient person. As long as there is communication I am always willing to work with you. I would ask for updates on my case and info on what to expect next and the answer I would receive on the majority of the replies from this office was "I will contact you when I hear from the court". Then months would go by. If you are looking for a cheap service and have all the time in the world, this place is for you. Otherwise, go elsewhere.

We The People Introduce

Navigating the legal system can often feel like a complex maze, especially when you're trying to manage personal or business matters without the high costs typically associated with hiring an attorney for every step. For residents and business owners across California, particularly in the Burbank area, "We The People" offers an alternative approach to legal processes: assistance with legal document preparation for those who choose to represent themselves in uncontested legal matters. It's important to understand that "We The People" is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice, but rather a service designed to help individuals accurately prepare and process the necessary paperwork for various legal situations.

The concept behind "We The People" is to empower individuals to handle their own legal affairs, often referred to as "pro se" representation, by providing professional assistance with the administrative and documentation aspects. This can be a cost-effective option for straightforward cases where parties are in agreement or when specific legal forms need to be accurately completed and filed according to court standards. In a state like California, with its extensive legal regulations, ensuring that paperwork is correctly prepared is crucial to avoiding delays or rejections from the courts.

This article aims to provide a clear, engaging, and informative overview of "We The People" in Burbank, detailing their location, the types of services they offer, and what sets them apart. While it's essential to set expectations regarding their role as document preparers and not legal advisors, understanding the value and limitations of such services can help Californians make informed decisions about their legal needs. We will also touch upon client experiences to provide a balanced perspective on their suitability for locals.

Location and Accessibility

"We The People" in Burbank is conveniently located at 356 E Olive Ave, Burbank, CA 91502, USA. This address places the office in a central and easily accessible part of Burbank, a vibrant city within the greater Los Angeles metropolitan area. The location is particularly advantageous for individuals residing in Burbank and surrounding communities within the San Fernando Valley.

Situated on East Olive Avenue, the office is near major thoroughfares and is just around the corner from the Burbank Courthouse. This proximity to the courthouse can be a significant benefit for clients, as it simplifies the process of filing documents once they have been prepared. For those traveling by car, the office is accessible from major freeways such as the I-5 and 134, making it convenient for clients coming from various parts of Southern California. Ample parking is often available in the vicinity, further enhancing accessibility.

The firm's operating hours are generally from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM on weekdays, with Saturdays available by appointment. This schedule, along with their central location, aims to provide flexibility and ease of access for clients who may have busy schedules. Being locally embedded allows "We The People" to cater directly to the administrative legal needs of the Burbank community.

Services Offered

"We The People" specializes in legal document preparation services, assisting individuals who choose to represent themselves in uncontested legal matters. They are not attorneys and do not provide legal advice, but rather focus on accurately preparing and typing legal documents to court standards based on the client's specific direction. Their services cover a wide array of common legal needs, aiming to make the process more affordable than traditional legal representation.

  • Divorce and Legal Separation: They assist with preparing all the necessary paperwork for uncontested divorces and legal separations, including those with or without minor children, divorce responses, amendments, and marital settlement agreements.
  • Business Formation: Services include assistance with preparing documents for incorporating businesses (corporations or LLCs) and filing fictitious business names (DBA), helping entrepreneurs establish their ventures with proper legal structure.
  • Estate Planning: They help prepare documents such as Living Trusts and Wills, as well as Power of Attorney and healthcare directives, enabling individuals to plan for their future and the distribution of their assets.
  • Real Estate Deeds: Assistance with preparing and processing various real estate deeds, such as Quitclaim Deeds, for property transfers.
  • Child Support and Visitation: They help prepare documentation related to child support calculations and visitation agreements, particularly in uncontested situations.
  • Bankruptcy: Services for preparing the necessary forms for Chapter 7 bankruptcy filings, acting as a Debt Relief Agency.
  • Notary Services: Providing impartial witness services for the signing of important documents, verifying identities, and ensuring documents are signed without duress.
  • Other Services: Their offerings also extend to various other legal document needs, which may include name changes, paternity, guardianships, conservatorships, trademarks, and evictions, among others.
Features / Highlights

"We The People" positions itself as a beneficial resource for individuals seeking to manage their legal affairs cost-effectively, particularly in uncontested matters.

  • Affordable Document Preparation: A primary highlight is the promise of saving 50-70% of typical legal fees by allowing clients to represent themselves (pro se) while We The People handles the paperwork. This can make legal processes more accessible for those on a budget.
  • Focus on Self-Representation (Pro Se): The service is designed for individuals who know what they want to do and are willing to manage their own case, with "We The People" providing the administrative support for document preparation.
  • Wide Range of Services: They offer assistance with a broad spectrum of legal documents, from family law matters like divorce to business formations, estate planning, and bankruptcy.
  • Experienced Document Preparers: The company often emphasizes having experienced professionals who can prepare documents to court standards, using software similar to what attorneys use.
  • Convenient Location: Being located in Burbank, near the courthouse, adds a layer of convenience for local clients regarding filing.
  • Notary Services Included: They often include notary services for documents they prepare at no additional charge, streamlining the process for clients.

However, it's crucial to address some significant concerns highlighted in recent customer reviews:

  • Communication Issues: Several reviews consistently mention "little to absolute no communication" from the business, with clients waiting months for updates despite sending multiple follow-up emails and voicemails.
  • Unresponsive and Unreliable Service: Clients reported instances of phones being out of order/disconnected and the office door being locked during operating hours, indicating issues with reliability and accessibility.
  • Extended Timelines: Despite having "very simple matters," clients experienced significant delays, with cases taking much longer than anticipated (e.g., a simple matter taking over a year).
  • Stress and Disappointment: The lack of communication and delays caused considerable stress and disappointment for customers already under pressure from their legal situations.

While the model of affordable document preparation for self-representation can be appealing, these reported issues regarding communication and timeliness are critical factors for potential clients to consider.

Promotions or Special Offers

"We The People" often highlights its value proposition through generally lower costs compared to full legal representation. Their primary "promotion" is the inherent cost-saving nature of their services, allowing individuals to save a significant percentage on legal document preparation by choosing to represent themselves.

The Burbank office specifically states that they offer "complimentary consultations." This is a key offer that allows potential clients to discuss their document preparation needs without an initial financial commitment. During this consultation, individuals can explain their situation and learn how "We The People" can assist them with the necessary paperwork. This initial discussion is crucial for determining if the service aligns with the client's expectations and the specific requirements of their uncontested legal matter.

Clients are encouraged to inquire about specific pricing for the various document preparation services during this consultation, as costs will vary depending on the complexity and type of documents required.

Conclusion: Why this place is suitable for locals

For residents of California, particularly those in Burbank and the wider Los Angeles area, "We The People" offers a specific type of service that can be suitable for certain legal needs, primarily for individuals who are prepared to navigate uncontested legal matters independently and are seeking a more affordable alternative to traditional legal representation. The core suitability lies in its model of providing professional legal document preparation, which can be invaluable for simplifying the administrative burden of court filings for "pro se" litigants.

The broad range of services, covering areas from divorce and estate planning to business formation and bankruptcy, means that locals have a single point of contact for numerous common legal documentation needs. For simple, uncontested cases where parties are in agreement, the potential for significant cost savings compared to hiring an attorney for full representation is a major draw. The physical presence in Burbank, conveniently located near the courthouse, also offers a practical advantage for local residents, facilitating the filing process.

However, it is crucial for locals to be fully aware of the service's limitations and recent customer feedback. "We The People" is explicitly a legal document preparation service, not a law firm. This means they cannot provide legal advice, represent clients in court, or offer counsel on legal rights or strategies. For complex or contested matters, or for individuals who require legal advice and full representation, consulting with a licensed attorney is always recommended.

Furthermore, the recurring themes in recent reviews regarding communication issues, unresponsiveness, and prolonged timelines are significant considerations. While the concept of affordable, self-help legal document services is appealing, potential clients must weigh these reported challenges against the promised cost savings. If a local user prioritizes constant communication, timely updates, and certainty in the duration of their legal process, they should approach "We The People" with careful consideration and perhaps establish clear communication expectations upfront.

In summary, "We The People" in Burbank can be a suitable option for locals who are on a tight budget, have a very clear and uncontested legal matter, are comfortable with self-representation, and are prepared to be proactive in follow-up. For those who prioritize a low-cost solution and are patient, it may serve its intended purpose. However, for anyone seeking comprehensive legal advice, active case management, or a highly communicative experience, it would be wise to explore alternatives.

### Review of We The People Divorce Filing Services I attempted to get my divorce filed through We The People, and the experience has been incredibly frustrating. My first email to them was sent in January 2024, and now, over six months later, my divorce should be final. Unfortunately, it is not. Despite my persistent efforts to contact them, Jamie, a paralegal at the company, has no records of my case or my $1,000 payment. The lack of communication is unacceptable. My calls and emails go unanswered, causing immense stress during an already challenging time. I strongly advise against using We The People for divorce filing services. Their unprofessionalism and lack of responsiveness make an already difficult process even more challenging. Rating: ★☆☆☆☆

DON'T GO THERE! My first ever negative review.Trust was supposed to be ready in 10 days to sign. Been over 3 months of emailing them, but there has been no response. Finally got a hold of Jayne, who gave me the excuse they had just come back from vacation. Sent me the trust to revise. Spelling of my last name was wrong everywhere. Emailed them 5 times, and there was no response. Called her back. She blamed her employees for not responding to my emails and told me to go in on Thursday at 7 for signing. I got here today, and she didn't know I had an appointment for today. Brought my trust and spelling of my last name still not fixed. Im supposed to come back on Tuesday. Went back Tuesday, not ready. Told me to go next Tuesday.Decide for yourselves if you are willing to use these people. Unprofessional, irresponsible. Most difficult to communicate with.

Don't you dare use these two (Jane & Janet) scam artists for your divorce paperwork. It was a complete nightmare!. My divorce took over 2 years of run around with these two clowns, and they still never completed my paperwork. I had to take these forms bits by bits to Pasadena to file them myself. They don't send anything to Pasadena themselves, nor do they follow up. They advertise themselves as "Divorce Attorneys" on Google. Whata Joke!
