My direct advice: see reviews on Yelp. I don't know if these are personal friends and family leaving positive high scores but in my direct and costly experience ... 1) Closing was delayed several times with extensions needed 2) I paid for every extension 3) I didn't receive nor do I believe they acted in good faith. Deadlines consistently missed without explanation given to me, the BUYER, nor forewarning. 4) I know it's not the Chicago way because we've dealt with other Seller Attorneys on different properties around the area without these issues. 5) I cannot recommend. What should have been a 30 day closing ran 2 months if not a day shy.

We will present available public data, including their location and contact information, and share insights from client experiences to help individuals in the Illinois region learn more about this firm and determine if their services align with their specific needs for legal assistance.

Choosing a legal professional is a critical decision, and a firm's reputation and approach to client service are important considerations. Antonopoulos & Virtel serve the Lemont community and surrounding areas in Illinois. While the firm's overall practice areas are not explicitly detailed in the provided information, the client reviews offer direct insights into their services, particularly in the realm of real estate transactions. These reviews highlight some specific concerns regarding communication, adherence to deadlines, and the depth of contract review during real estate closings. It is essential for prospective clients to carefully consider these aspects, as effective communication and meticulous attention to detail are vital in legal proceedings. Understanding these direct client experiences can help individuals in Illinois set appropriate expectations and ask pertinent questions when engaging with legal counsel for their own matters. For complex legal tasks, especially those involving contracts and financial implications, a thorough and transparent approach is key to a smooth and successful outcome.

For individuals seeking legal services in Lemont, Illinois, Antonopoulos & Virtel is located at 15419 E 127th St Suite 100, Lemont, IL 60439, USA. This address places the firm within convenient reach for residents of Lemont and the surrounding communities in Cook and Will Counties. East 127th Street is a main thoroughfare, making the office readily identifiable and accessible for those traveling by car. The inclusion of a suite number (100) indicates their presence within a professional office building or complex, which typically offers structured parking solutions, enhancing client convenience. Ease of access is a practical consideration for anyone needing to visit a law office for consultations, document signings, or ongoing discussions about their case. Being locally situated in Lemont means the firm is part of the community and potentially familiar with local court procedures and regional legal practices. This geographical presence can be a factor for clients who prefer to work with a local attorney for their legal needs in Illinois.

Based on the provided client reviews, Antonopoulos & Virtel appears to handle legal services primarily within the realm of real estate transactions. While a full list of their offerings is not available, the detailed feedback from a client specifically pertains to a property closing. Therefore, we can infer and detail services related to real estate, which would commonly include:

  • Real Estate Closings: Assisting buyers and sellers through the legal process of transferring property ownership. This involves preparing and reviewing legal documents, coordinating with lenders and title companies, and facilitating the final closing process.
  • Contract Review and Negotiation (Real Estate): Examining real estate contracts, advising clients on terms and conditions, and negotiating on their behalf to protect their interests during property transactions.
  • Handling Escrow Disputes: As indicated by the review concerning retaining escrow when a buyer backed out, the firm would typically be involved in managing and resolving disputes related to earnest money deposits held in escrow.
  • Property Tax Exemption Issues: While the client noted a concern about not asking questions regarding tax exemptions, real estate attorneys generally advise clients on property tax implications, including exemptions, during a sale or purchase to prevent future issues. This is a common service that experienced real estate lawyers provide.
  • General Real Estate Legal Counsel: Providing advice on various real estate matters beyond just buying and selling, which could include landlord-tenant issues, property disputes, or deed transfers.

It is important for prospective clients to directly inquire about the full scope of services offered and the firm's specific approach to each area of law, particularly given the detailed concerns raised in the provided reviews regarding the real estate closing process.

Based on the provided customer reviews, which highlight significant challenges and concerns, the features and highlights of Antonopoulos & Virtel, from the perspective of these specific clients, lean towards areas needing improvement rather than positive attributes. It is crucial to present these insights factually to help potential clients make informed decisions.

  • Delayed Closings and Extensions: A consistent highlight from the reviews is the repeated delays in real estate closings, leading to multiple extensions being needed. This caused frustration and additional costs for the client.
  • Additional Costs for Extensions: The client explicitly states paying for every extension, which represents an unexpected financial burden due to the delayed process.
  • Concerns Regarding Good Faith and Communication: A significant point of concern is the client's belief that the firm "didn't act in good faith" and consistently missed deadlines without explanation or forewarning, particularly to the buyer. This suggests a lack of proactive and transparent communication.
  • Perceived Minimal Effort: One review states that the "law firm does the absolute minimum to finish the task." This reflects a perception of insufficient proactivity and diligence in handling the client's case.
  • Lack of Proactivity in Escrow Retention: In a situation where a buyer backed out, the firm reportedly "did nothing to retain the escrow," and the client had to "prod him to call and find out" about the financial details. This indicates a reactive rather than proactive approach to protecting client interests.
  • Oversight in Tax Exemptions: A critical highlight of concern was the firm not asking questions regarding tax exemptions on the property, which later resulted in the client being asked for an additional $2,000 for taxes. This points to a potential lack of thoroughness in reviewing financial implications during property transactions.
  • Recommendation Against Use for Contract Review: A direct piece of advice from a reviewer is to "PROTECT yourself and pick another Lawyer who actually REVIEWS the contract and explains everything before giving it to you to sign." This highlights a specific area of dissatisfaction concerning contract due diligence and client education.

These points represent the salient features of the firm's service as experienced by the provided reviewers. Prospective clients in Illinois should consider these experiences when evaluating Antonopoulos & Virtel for their legal needs.

Therefore, while Antonopoulos & Virtel is a local legal option, individuals in the Illinois region are strongly advised to conduct thorough due diligence, potentially seeking multiple consultations, and giving considerable weight to these public client experiences when deciding if this firm is suitable for their specific and critical legal needs, especially those involving complex contractual agreements and significant financial implications. The firm's local presence may be a factor, but the detailed negative feedback necessitates a highly cautious approach.

This law firm does the absolute minimum to finish the task. When a buyer backed out at the last minute, he did nothing to retain the escrow. We had to prod him to call and find out how a bank pre-approval finance letter could be issued then suddenly not be approved. He didn't want to go through the hassle. When the condo was finally sold, he did not ask any questions regarding the tax exemptions on the property. As a result, 7 months later they came back asking for $2k more for taxes. *** PROTECT yourself and pick another Lawyer who actually REVIEWS the contract and explains everything before giving it to you to sign. ***
