Even in the midst of a difficult, high-conflict case, he made it clear that he was fully committed to my interests, not swayed by the complexities of legal politics. He was patient through much anxiety. His approach is grounded in logic, case law, and sound reasoning—not fear or intimidation tactics. Dean H. Sutton, Esq. Introduce

Welcome to the profile of Dean H. Sutton, Esq., an attorney at law located at 800 Stone Creek Pkwy, Suite #6, in Louisville, Kentucky. As a legal professional listed on the "Lawyers Near Me" platform, Dean H. Sutton appears to offer legal services to individuals in the Louisville metropolitan area. His office in the Stone Creek Parkway area suggests a suburban location, potentially providing a more accessible and less congested environment for client meetings compared to the downtown core. While the specific areas of law in which Mr. Sutton specializes are not explicitly stated, the available client reviews offer contrasting perspectives that provide some insight into his practice.

The office at 800 Stone Creek Parkway likely provides a standard professional setting for client consultations and legal work. Located in a suburban area of Louisville, it may offer easier parking and a more relaxed atmosphere for clients. However, without specific details about the office itself, it is challenging to describe the environment further. Potential clients can likely expect a private space for confidential discussions regarding their legal matters.

The services offered by Dean H. Sutton, Esq. are not explicitly detailed in the provided information. However, the client reviews suggest a focus on family law, particularly divorce and child custody matters, as well as civil litigation. Based on the experiences shared by reviewers, potential areas of service may include:

  • Divorce Law: One positive review highlights Mr. Sutton's understanding of the financial strain of divorce and his compassionate approach to these cases. This suggests experience in handling divorce proceedings and related issues.
  • Child Custody Disputes: A negative review details a protracted custody battle involving Mr. Sutton representing the opposing party. This indicates experience in child custody litigation, although the reviewer raises serious concerns about his conduct in such cases.
  • General Civil Litigation: The reference to pursuing custody based on "personal animosity rather than legitimate legal grounds" and the facilitation of "continuous filing of appeals and motions" suggests involvement in broader civil litigation beyond just divorce and custody.

The available client reviews present a stark contrast in their assessment of Dean H. Sutton, Esq. One reviewer offers high praise, while the other strongly advises against retaining his services. It is crucial to consider both perspectives to form an objective understanding:

Positive Feedback: One client describes Mr. Sutton as "the most exceptional lawyer I’ve ever had the privilege of working with." This reviewer highlights his reasonable fees, deep understanding of the financial strain of divorce, and incredible compassion. They also commend his calm demeanor, sharp legal expertise, commitment to the client's interests, logical approach grounded in case law, and unquestionable loyalty. This client was so satisfied that they paid his balance in full early, allowing him to take a break, and expresses deep gratitude and respect for his work.

Negative Feedback: In stark contrast, another reviewer strongly advises against retaining Mr. Sutton. This individual recounts an interaction predating their own legal representation where Mr. Sutton, representing a family member seeking custody of their children, allegedly approached them outside the courtroom and threatened to portray them unfavorably unless they complied with his client's demands. This reviewer found this behavior unethical and demonstrating a disregard for the children's best interests, suggesting a focus on winning "at any cost" rather than on the welfare of those involved.

Furthermore, the negative review alleges that over five years of litigation, Mr. Sutton's clients failed to secure any favorable rulings, yet he continued to file appeals and motions deemed without merit, suggesting harassment and potentially a means to continue billing. The reviewer also expresses concerns about Mr. Sutton's professional integrity, suggesting he may not provide honest evaluations of case weaknesses and may perpetuate unnecessary legal proceedings. Additionally, the reviewer cites instances of deficient legal work, including repeatedly confusing the names of co-petitioners in official filings, indicating a lack of attention to detail and professionalism.

Given these strongly opposing views, it is challenging to provide definitive promotional information. However, objectively, Mr. Sutton's features appear to include:

  • Experience in Family Law: Both reviews indicate involvement in family law cases, specifically divorce and child custody.
  • Potential for Compassionate Representation: One client experienced and appreciated his understanding and compassion, particularly in the context of divorce.
  • Aggressive Litigation Style (as perceived by the opposing party): The negative review suggests a willingness to pursue legal action assertively, even when the merits of the case are questioned by the opposing party.

However, potential clients must also consider the serious allegations raised in the negative review regarding ethical conduct, focus on winning at any cost, perpetuation of unnecessary litigation, lack of diligence, and questionable professional integrity.

I strongly advise against retaining this attorney. Five years ago, he agreed to represent a family member pursuing custody of my children for reasons that appeared to be driven by personal animosity rather than legitimate legal grounds. During the initial motion hour—prior to my retention of legal counsel—he approached me outside the courtroom (an area monitored by surveillance cameras) and stated that unless I complied with his client’s demands, it was his professional obligation to portray me in the most unfavorable light possible before the court. This interaction not only struck me as unethical and unbecoming of someone in his profession, but it also demonstrated a complete disregard for the best interests of my children. It became clear that his focus was not on the welfare of those involved, but rather on achieving a victory at any cost. Over the subsequent five years, his clients have failed to secure any favorable rulings. Nevertheless, he has facilitated the continuous filing of appeals and motions, despite the apparent lack of merit in their case. At this stage, the protracted litigation feels less like legal advocacy and more like a form of harassment. In my assessment, he lacks the professional integrity to provide his clients with an honest evaluation of their case’s weaknesses and instead perpetuates unnecessary legal proceedings—potentially as a means to continue billing them. It is my belief that he may be one of the few attorneys in Jefferson County willing to pursue such a case. Furthermore, I have found his legal work to be deficient in accuracy and diligence. Throughout the course of the proceedings, he has repeatedly confused the names of the co-petitioners in official filings, which reflects a concerning lack of attention to detail and professionalism. I cannot, in good conscience, recommend his services to anyone, unless they happen to be opposing me in litigation. ————— Update 1/3/25 Every word I have stated is the truth. Following our interaction, I contacted the courthouse to inquire about obtaining the camera footage. He did, in fact, approach me as I was leaving the courtroom after motion hour. His choice to deny this, rather than acknowledge his actions, speaks volumes. Perhaps he doesn’t remember – it likely meant little to him. But I will never forget. Imagine being a mother with a two-month-old child, only to learn that family sought custody simply because you refused to grant them access. When you find yourself in a position to protect your children, every detail stays with you. He could have left the courtroom and gone about his day, but instead, he chose to confront me – a clear attempt at intimidation. For that, I am grateful. It propelled me to seek out an exceptional attorney – and that is precisely what I did. In the past five years, his clients have not been granted any favorable rulings by the Jefferson County Courts or the Kentucky Court of Appeals. An honest attorney would have advised them long ago that they had no case. I find it telling that Mr. Sutton claims his clients are “pleased” when they have not seen my children in five years, and the courts have consistently determined that they should have no access to them. With each rejection, Mr. Sutton files yet another motion or appeal – only to receive the same result. If his clients are truly “pleased” despite losing every motion and being denied access by the courts, it reveals their true motive. This was never about the best interests of the children. It was about harassing me – and Mr. Sutton facilitates this because it lines his pockets. Consider this a warning.

Dean was utterly useless in my divorce and a complete waste of money. His communication was poor with me and opposing counsel. He provided no direction or assistance. I do not recommend - I found another lawyer to complete the divorce.

CON MAN. When I say this is the biggest con man ever, I mean for any reason, do NOT hire this man for any reason. We gave him very clear instructions on what we needed, he agreed and gave us a price. He required we pay it up front. He then did everything opposite of what we discussed, and of course tried to charge us more, kept our money when he accomplished absolutely nothing. We literally had nothing on our case done, but he said that he worked on it four hours of useless research and kept all of our money while none of his research helped in any way. He literally refused to give us any money back after doing NOTHING. He is way off, personality way off, just out for money. His license should be revoked.
