I have been dealing with a representative for over three years to settle my outstanding balance with Rutgers University. Despite being accepted into various MSW programs, I cannot complete them due to this unresolved debt. I have attempted to negotiate a settlement with this law firm and even when I was supposed to join the military, he refused to cooperate. His behavior is unprofessional and rude, resembling that of a loan shark or someone working for the mafia. I am deeply disappointed and saddened by his lack of empathy towards someone striving to improve their situation. I have written multiple letters and emails, yet I receive no response. This treatment is unacceptable, and I cannot understand why Rutgers would employ such a company to handle student accounts.

The publicly available information does not provide details about a physical office environment for Gordin & Berger within Taiwan. The address listed, 1760 Market St, Philadelphia, PA 19103, USA, indicates that the firm is based in the United States. For users in Taiwan searching for "Lawyers Near Me," it is important to consider whether a US-based firm is suitable for their legal needs, particularly if those needs pertain to Taiwanese law or require a local presence in Taiwan for court proceedings or in-person consultations. While some international legal matters might benefit from the expertise of a US-based firm, most local legal issues in Taiwan would likely require representation by attorneys licensed and operating within Taiwan.
Based on the limited information and the context of the provided reviews, it appears that Gordin & Berger's services, at least in the cases mentioned, relate to debt collection on behalf of Rutgers University. The reviews describe interactions related to settling outstanding balances with the university. It is unclear from this information whether Gordin & Berger offers a broader range of legal services beyond debt collection. If they do, those services are not detailed in the provided context. For users in Taiwan with legal needs unrelated to US-based debt collection, it is uncertain whether Gordin & Berger would be an appropriate provider.
The features of Gordin & Berger, as perceived through the lens of the customer reviews, raise significant concerns. The reviewers describe the firm's representatives as "unprofessional," "rude," and resembling "loan sharks" or individuals associated with the "mafia." One reviewer alleges "ethics violations" and describes the firm as "unprofessional rude vultures." These descriptions suggest a lack of empathy, refusal to cooperate, failure to communicate, and potentially predatory practices. The allegations include not providing payment receipts, charging unwarranted fees, disregarding agreements with legal counsel, and prioritizing aggressive litigation over negotiation, even at the expense of the debtor's federally provided benefits. These features, as described by the reviewers, stand in stark contrast to the professionalism and ethical conduct expected of legal practitioners.
The provided information does not contain any positive promotional information for Gordin & Berger. Instead, the customer reviews serve as negative testimonials, strongly cautioning against engaging with the firm. It is strongly recommended that users in Taiwan seeking legal representation prioritize law firms that are based in Taiwan, licensed to practice Taiwanese law, and have a positive reputation within the local community. Platforms like "Lawyers Near Me" should ideally provide information about local attorneys who are familiar with the Taiwanese legal system and are readily accessible for in-person consultations and court appearances if necessary.
In conclusion, based on the provided information, Gordin & Berger appears to be a US-based law firm primarily involved in debt collection. The customer reviews available online raise significant ethical and professional concerns regarding their practices. For local users in Taiwan seeking legal assistance through the "Lawyers Near Me" platform, engaging with a firm based in the United States with such negative feedback warrants extreme caution, especially for legal matters pertaining to Taiwanese law or requiring a local presence. It is advisable to seek legal counsel from reputable law firms based within Taiwan with a proven track record of professionalism and ethical conduct.

Jul 29, 2024 · H PIf you would like an attorney that has committed ethics violations look no further than Gordon and Berger. I had the misfortune of dealing with these unprofessional rude vultures after I told Rutgers university to speak to my legal counsel regarding any monetary balance I had with them. Not only did I never receive a receipt with their payment plans after asking for 6 months (and this was 3 years into the plan), they charged late fees and collection costs; despite the fact that the firm entered a verbal agreement with me that they would talk to my legal counsel and not with me directly as the university never told them I had legal counsel (this was per Edward Berger). Turns out not only did they never contact my attorneys they sent me to court and refused to meet with my lawyers. My counsel advised me that Gordon and Berger said “why would we negotiate when we can win this case in court and get the amount without having your client use the benefits the same benefits that the federal government provides for federal loans.” In the classic fashion of the ru screw both the university and this firm is abusing the power they have when it comes to federal loans. Seems Rutgers hired bounty hunters who only care about money and not their alumni. Congress really needs to shut them down and the ethics board needs to disbar them, as they commit predatory practices on a scale that makes Sallie Mae seem like a saint
Apr 02, 2024 · Jhan GarciaIf I could give 0 stars I would. He is completely rude and unprofessional. I understand that he has a job to do and I understand he is a debt collector but you don't have to treat people like peasants. Not all situations are the same. Would not recommend. Would recommend he be in a different profession. He makes me not want to pay at all. Hung up on me while speaking. Crossed lines. Degrading. DO NOT USE THIS MAN!
Aug 17, 2023 · Sara MathewsI began paying off Officer Gerald Reiff court officer the balance I owed to Rutgers University. When he retired I was directed to pay this lawyer Edward Berger. I sent the final balance of $1064.13 payment and have proof he signed it and it was delivered by the U.S Postal Service. He claims he never received it. I sent him all the proof he asked as he also asked me to send it to him. I have proof it was delivered and signed. The money orders were signed in his name and cashed. The lawyer became unprofessional and irate when I attempted to discuss this matter to find a resolution. The lawyer would not let me speak, he interrupted me several times and hung up on me several times. The last day was on July 16 and when I asked for his ID number he hung up on me again and would not give it to me. He has chosen a very unprofessional lawyer who is discriminatory and acting unethically.
