This Law firm was recommended to me but when I called them I spoke with the receptionist, she took my information and said someone would be calling me back. It was recommended to me to speak with Marcus Carpenter by the person that referred me to that office. I waited from the initial call on a Thursday until late Wednesday afternoon when I called again. I spoke with the same receptionist and again she said Mr Carpenter would call. It has been 2 months and still not a call from that law firm. I've since hired someone else. If they don't have the integrity and respect to call you back after getting all your information I would think twice before hiring Gray Layton Kersh to represent you.

When considering Gray Layton Kersh Solomon Furr in Gastonia, NC, certain features and highlights can be identified, drawing from both the firm's general profile as a multi-attorney practice and the insights provided by client reviews.
Established Local Presence: As a firm with multiple named partners (Gray, Layton, Kersh, Solomon, Furr), it suggests a long-standing and established presence in the Gastonia legal community. This can imply a depth of experience and familiarity with local court systems and legal professionals.
Team of Attorneys: The presence of multiple attorneys (e.g., Marcus Carpenter, David Smith, William Sain mentioned in reviews) indicates a firm with potentially diverse areas of legal expertise under one roof, allowing for specialization across various practice areas such as family estate matters, as alluded to in one review.
Accessibility via Phone: The firm provides a direct phone number and a mobile number, offering multiple channels for clients to attempt to make contact.
However, it is crucial to address the significant concerns raised in the provided customer reviews, as these directly reflect upon the firm's operational "features" from a client's perspective:
Concerns Regarding Responsiveness and Communication: One review explicitly states a two-month wait for a callback after an initial inquiry, leading to the client hiring another firm. This suggests potential issues with client intake and initial communication protocols.
Allegations of Ethical Lapses/Conflict of Interest: A serious concern is raised regarding attorney David Smith allegedly not honoring "conflict of interest" standards by accepting an opponent's case over a former client's. Such allegations, if proven, are grave professional conduct issues.
Negative Feedback on Specific Attorneys: The review also contains very strong negative opinions about "William Sain," describing him as "a disgrace to the rule of law" and "a total embarrassment," and mentioning that he is "facing NC Bar complaint(s)." While this targets an individual attorney within the firm, it reflects on the firm's overall quality control and reputation.
Integrity and Respect Concerns: The first review questions the firm's "integrity and respect" based on the lack of a callback, which speaks to fundamental aspects of client service.
These detailed points from client feedback are significant for potential clients evaluating the firm. While the firm's structure might suggest comprehensive services, these strong criticisms regarding communication, ethics, and individual attorney performance are paramount considerations.
As is standard practice for professional legal firms, Gray Layton Kersh Solomon Furr does not typically advertise traditional "promotions" or "special offers" akin to retail businesses. Legal services are tailored to individual client needs, and fee structures are determined based on the complexity and nature of each specific case.
However, common practices that might be considered beneficial "offers" from a client's perspective for a law firm of this type generally include:
Initial Consultations: Many law firms offer an initial consultation to prospective clients. This meeting provides an opportunity for the attorney to understand the specifics of your legal issue and for you to determine if the firm's expertise aligns with your needs. While some firms may offer these consultations for free, others may charge a nominal fee. It is always advisable to inquire about the consultation policy and any associated costs when you first contact the office.
Transparent Fee Discussions: During your initial consultation, a reputable legal professional will typically discuss their fee structure and how costs will be managed throughout the legal process. This ensures transparency regarding the financial commitment involved, whether it concerns hourly rates, flat fees for specific services, or other arrangements. Understanding the financial aspects upfront is crucial for informed decision-making.
To learn about the specific fee structure for your case, and to inquire about their consultation policy, it is essential to contact Gray Layton Kersh Solomon Furr directly using the provided phone numbers. They will be able to provide the most accurate and up-to-date information relevant to your particular legal situation.

Apr 07, 2025 · Basilius ReidDavid Smith represented my father, in a family estate matter, in the early 1990's. Yet, when recently attempting to obtain service again, he did not honor the standard ethical approach “conflict of interest” when accepting my opponent’s case over mine. Why David?!?! So, why did you sell out ethics like almost all other professional attorneys (who do not handle conflicts of interest)? We had you at an early career stage. Some may even claim unknown. Did you forget where you came from David?!?! William Sain, a generic lawyer that couldn't negotiate out of a wet paper bag. Sain is a disgrace to the rule of law. He's a total embarrassment and is facing NC Bar complaint(s).
Oct 04, 2024 · Byron FallsMy father died in October. They have yet to settle the estate. Apparently, when they elected, my sister be executor. They can’t do anything with her, so I don’t know what to tell you . Sandra tried to help me in every way she can, but there’s only so much you can do with a bad executor. Let my brother move into the house and he doesn’t have the money to pay for it. I’m elderly and this has been a lot of stress.
