For many residents across Wisconsin, the process of applying for Social Security Disability (SSD) or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) can feel like navigating a maze. From understanding complex eligibility requirements to compiling vast amounts of medical evidence, securing the benefits you need can be a daunting and often frustrating experience. This is precisely where a dedicated legal partner like Hoglund Law in Milwaukee steps in, offering specialized assistance to individuals seeking disability benefits.
Hoglund Law has positioned itself as a firm primarily focused on helping individuals with their Social Security Disability claims. They understand that for many, these benefits are a lifeline, providing crucial financial support when a disability prevents them from working. The firm aims to simplify this complex process, providing guidance and representation to help clients pursue the benefits they may be entitled to receive.
The journey to obtaining Social Security Disability or SSI benefits often involves multiple stages, from the initial application to potential appeals and hearings. Having experienced legal counsel can make a significant difference in how an application is prepared, presented, and argued. Hoglund Law's approach is centered on supporting clients through each phase, offering knowledge of the Social Security Administration's (SSA) rules and procedures. While the process can be challenging, the firm strives to make it as manageable as possible for their clients, addressing their concerns and advocating on their behalf.
It's important for Wisconsin residents to understand that denial of an initial disability application is common. This doesn't mean your claim is invalid, but rather that the SSA may require more information or a stronger argument. In such situations, the assistance of a law firm with specific experience in disability appeals can be invaluable. Hoglund Law is structured to help individuals navigate these denials, preparing and presenting appeals to give clients the best possible chance at securing their benefits.

Hoglund Law specializes in legal services related to Social Security Disability (SSD) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI). Their practice is primarily dedicated to assisting individuals through the complex application and appeal processes involved in obtaining these federal benefits.
Social Security Disability (SSD) Applications: Assisting individuals with the initial application for Social Security Disability benefits, ensuring all necessary forms are completed accurately and submitted in a timely manner. They help gather and present medical records and other crucial evidence to support a claim.
Supplemental Security Income (SSI) Applications: Providing guidance and representation for those applying for SSI, which is a needs-based program for disabled adults and children with limited income and resources.
Disability Claim Denials and Appeals: A core part of their service, Hoglund Law helps clients whose initial disability applications have been denied. They are equipped to handle various levels of appeal, including Reconsideration, hearings before an Administrative Law Judge (ALJ), and appeals to the Appeals Council.
Hearing Representation: Representing clients at disability hearings before an Administrative Law Judge, which is a critical stage where many claims are decided. Their attorneys prepare clients for questions, present evidence, and make legal arguments on their behalf.
Collecting and Submitting Medical Evidence: A vital aspect of any disability claim is robust medical evidence. The firm assists clients in obtaining necessary medical records from doctors, hospitals, and other healthcare providers to strengthen their case.
Understanding Eligibility Requirements: Helping clients assess whether they meet the medical and non-medical criteria for SSDI or SSI, including work history requirements for SSDI and income/asset limits for SSI.
Specialized Focus on Social Security Disability: Hoglund Law’s primary focus is on Social Security Disability and SSI cases. This specialization means their attorneys and staff are highly knowledgeable about the intricacies of this specific area of law and the evolving regulations of the Social Security Administration.
Extensive Client Representation: The firm states it has represented a significant number of clients in Social Security Disability cases. This high volume of cases suggests considerable experience in navigating the system and understanding common pitfalls and successful strategies.
Assistance Through All Stages: They guide clients through the entire disability process, from the initial application to reconsideration, hearings, and appeals. This comprehensive support is crucial, especially given the multi-layered nature of disability claims.
Experienced Attorneys: The firm emphasizes having experienced attorneys dedicated to mastering the Social Security Disability system, aiming to provide clients with knowledgeable representation.
Free Case Evaluation: Hoglund Law offers a free case evaluation, allowing potential clients to discuss their situation with an attorney and understand their options without any upfront cost. This is a common and highly beneficial feature for those exploring their legal avenues.
Like many law firms specializing in Social Security Disability, Hoglund Law operates on a contingency fee basis for their disability cases. This is a significant benefit for individuals who are unable to work due to a disability and may have limited financial resources. Under a contingency fee arrangement, you generally do not pay any attorney fees upfront. Instead, the firm's fees are a percentage of the past-due benefits (back pay) that you are awarded if your claim is successful. If your claim is not approved and you do not receive benefits, you typically owe no attorney fees. This structure allows access to legal representation without financial barriers, making it suitable for those in precarious economic situations due to their disability.
Additionally, as highlighted in their services, Hoglund Law offers a free case evaluation. This initial consultation allows potential clients to discuss the specifics of their disability claim with an attorney, get an assessment of their case's strengths and weaknesses, and understand the potential legal pathways forward, all without any financial obligation. This free consultation is a crucial first step for many seeking to navigate the complex world of Social Security Disability benefits.

My Legal Name is Ember F. if Hoglund, or anyone else, want to contact me. Contacted Hoglund Law took on my disability case in October of 2024, with a file date of Oct 31, 2024, They informed me the case would be settled quickly as I met every requirement and I qualified for SSDI. They specifically told me not to contact the Social Security Office or sign anything for the office when they helped me apply and that everything I signed with their office would cover my application. In February of 2025 the Social Security Office in my area sent me a letter informing me that Hoglund never properly submitted my paperwork or signature and that I had to go to the office and fix the application. I decided to visit the office to double check the application as this, obviously, felt strange. Upon going to the office I was informed that non of my application information was certified and submitted and I had to verify my entire application and sign every document again with them to verify everything and actually submit it. Upon finishing the application I was informed I would receive a call for an interview. I got that interview on Saturday Feb 22, 2025. SSDI informed me I did not have enough work history to apply for SSDI [which is sad, but I did not know that, even after giving Hoglund all my information! They should have known that!]. I called Hoglund on Feb 25, 2025 to figure out what my next steps where. The secretary was very kind to me, as she always is [props to her she is a very sweet soul], and helped me set up a call back with my case manager. Upon getting a call back from my case manager, she started the call by simply saying she was calling back and then no further detail, not even asking me what I called about or saying hello. After a very awkward back and fourth I let her know I was denied, and that I would like to move forwards with an appeal if possible and that I was confused because as far as I was aware I did meet the work requirements, as I'm under 24, have been disabled since childhood, and have several conditions that make it impossible for me to work. For context: My list of disabilities include Learning Disabilities, a TBI, other physical injuries, psychological conditions both inherited and relating to physical and emotional trauma, and genetic conditions such as EDS and Alpha 1. At this point my case manager raised her voice, telling me there would be no appeal as they felt there was no case because I was denied on a technical term, one they said they had no access too or way to verify if it was true, and that any questions I have should be given to the Social Security Office, and that I shouldn't contact them for any questions. I then said that my paperwork did say I could appeal this discussion and that it says you can appeal on a technical decision and she raised her voice further saying there was no case, and I still had a SSI application open and that it was better than nothing and I should be grateful for it, and that I should bother the Social Security Office with these questions and not her, and that my case was closed and they could no longer help me and I would not be getting SSDI through their office. My Case manager then said I was being unreasonable, and hung up on me while I was crying for being yelled at. Hoglund Law, do better.

Apr 22, 2025 · JohnExtremely Disappointed with Hoglund Law Offices' Representation: I am writing to share the profoundly disappointing experience my girlfriend had with Hoglund Law Offices. She has been battling a severe case of Lyme disease for years, enduring debilitating symptoms like chronic pain, neurological issues, and frequent medical appointments that have prevented her from working for the past three years. Hoglund Law Offices reached out to her unsolicited, offering to represent her in pursuing a disability claim. They made it sound straightforward, suggesting it was an open-and-shut case given her extensive medical history and inability to work. Unfortunately, their actions did not match their promises. Lack of Communication and Support: Throughout the process, communication from Hoglund Law was minimal. When she attempted to provide new medical information or requested updates, she was often dismissed and told not to call—that they would reach out when necessary. This left her feeling isolated and uninformed about her own case. When they did contact her, it was typically just a week before a court hearing, leaving insufficient time to prepare or discuss important details. Unprepared Representation at the Hearing: At her final disability hearing, an attorney she had never met arrived to represent her. This attorney seemed unfamiliar with her case, medical history, and the reasons she was seeking disability. When the judge questioned her credibility—suggesting that if she could occasionally engage in light activities, she could work—the attorney failed to defend her or provide context about her condition. The judge's comments were dismissive and upsetting, yet the attorney remained silent. It was disheartening to see her representation so unprepared during such a critical moment. Abandoned Without Notice: After the hearing, the attorney mentioned they might need to appeal if the decision was unfavorable. However, she heard nothing further until receiving a letter stating that her claim was denied and that Hoglund Law Offices would not be pursuing an appeal. The letter bluntly stated they were taking no further action on her claim. This left her feeling abandoned and forced to navigate the complex appeals process alone if she chose to continue. Missed Opportunities Due to Lack of Diligence: What's particularly frustrating is that recent changes in the Social Security Administration have made it somewhat easier for individuals like her to qualify for disability. It feels as though Hoglund Law Offices did not take full advantage of these changes, possibly due to a lack of awareness or diligence. Final Thoughts for Others: If you or someone you know is seeking legal representation for a disability claim, I strongly advise looking elsewhere. Your case deserves a law firm that will treat you as an individual, fully understand your situation, and advocate diligently on your behalf. Don't settle for a firm that makes promises but fails to deliver when it matters most. Do thorough research, read reviews, and seek personal recommendations to find a law office that genuinely has your best interests at heart. A Message to Hoglund Law Offices: I hope you take this feedback seriously and reevaluate how you handle clients' cases. People come to you during some of the most challenging times in their lives, trusting you to advocate for them with competence and compassion. It's imperative that you honor that trust by providing consistent communication, thorough preparation, and genuine support. No one should feel abandoned or unheard, especially when navigating something as critical as a disability claim.
Oct 29, 2024 · Trevor HermanThis law firm got me disability in 2019 and they were great. Today? They are horrible to deal with. I told them in the beginning I did not have to re apply but did not know what actions to take. I was told, “Well we are filing a new application.” I have 30 or more emails to and from the paralegals as I have been asking for status updates. Blown off by every time. I called Social Security yesterday. Not only did the application not go through, they have no record of it, the law firm as not even approved as my legal representation. All I needed to do was complete two forms. One asking for Social Security to reinstate my benefits and one proving end of work date. I have been sitting here for MONTHS waiting for something that is NEVER going to happen. Not only are the paralegals rude, dismissive and in this case incompetent phone calls went not returned and questions not answered. I am terminating this contract and will be circling back. The partners of this firm have certainly not been without income or 5 months and able pay their bills. Mine on the other hand????
