This article aims to provide a clear, engaging, and informative overview of Joseph & Kirschenbaum LLP, detailing their practice, convenient location, and why they are a suitable choice for those in the New York region seeking justice in the workplace.

Joseph & Kirschenbaum LLP is a prominent New York City-based law firm that specializes in employment law, passionately representing employees across various industries. Attorneys like Maimon and Leah are specifically praised for their dedication and effectiveness in challenging situations, such as wrongful termination. This suggests a practice deeply committed to employee advocacy, addressing issues like discrimination, wage and hour disputes, sexual harassment, and other workplace injustices. Firms specializing in employment law are adept at navigating both federal and New York State labor laws, negotiating with employers, and pursuing litigation when necessary to ensure fair compensation and justice for their clients. Joseph & Kirschenbaum LLP's approach appears to be rooted in a strong client-focused philosophy, aiming to provide a "bright light" during difficult times and empowering employees to stand up for their rights. Their reputation for getting results underscores their commitment to tangible outcomes for those facing workplace challenges.

For New Yorkers, convenience and accessibility are crucial factors when selecting legal representation. Joseph & Kirschenbaum LLP is ideally situated at 32 Broadway #601, New York, NY 10004, USA. This central location places the firm in the heart of the Financial District, a hub of activity and easily reachable from various parts of New York City.

The firm's presence on Broadway means it is exceptionally well-served by New York City's extensive public transportation system. Numerous subway lines have stations within a very short walking distance of 32 Broadway, including the 4, 5 (at Wall Street), J, Z (at Broad Street), and R, W (at Rector Street/Whitehall Street). This widespread subway connectivity ensures that clients traveling from Uptown, Midtown, Brooklyn, Queens, or even the Bronx can reach the office with remarkable ease and efficiency. For those commuting from New Jersey, the PATH train system also provides direct and convenient access to Lower Manhattan. While street parking in Manhattan can sometimes be challenging, there are several parking garages available in the vicinity of the Financial District for clients who prefer to drive. Furthermore, the central location offers quick access to various federal, state, and local courthouses, as well as relevant government agencies (like the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission or the New York State Division of Human Rights), which can be particularly beneficial during employment-related legal proceedings. This prime and highly accessible location underscores Joseph & Kirschenbaum LLP's commitment to client convenience, ensuring that geographical barriers do not hinder individuals from seeking expert legal representation when they need it most.

Joseph & Kirschenbaum LLP specializes in employment law, offering comprehensive legal support to employees across a wide array of workplace issues. Their focus is on protecting the rights of individuals against unfair or unlawful practices by employers. While specific categories can be quite extensive, based on typical employment law practices and the provided reviews, we can infer the kinds of services a dedicated firm like this would provide:

  • Wrongful Termination: Representing employees who believe they were fired for unlawful reasons, such as discrimination, retaliation, or in violation of an employment contract.

  • Workplace Discrimination: Advocating for individuals who have experienced discrimination based on protected characteristics like age, race, gender, religion, national origin, disability, or sexual orientation, in hiring, promotion, termination, or other employment terms.

  • Sexual Harassment: Providing legal support to victims of sexual harassment in the workplace, including hostile work environment claims and quid pro quo harassment.

  • Wage & Hour Disputes: Assisting employees with issues related to unpaid wages, overtime violations, minimum wage non-compliance, tip misappropriation, and other compensation-related grievances.

  • Retaliation: Protecting employees who have faced adverse employment actions (e.g., demotion, firing) after engaging in protected activities, such as reporting harassment, discrimination, or safety violations (whistleblower protection).

  • Severance Agreement Review & Negotiation: Advising employees on proposed severance packages, negotiating terms to ensure fair compensation and protection of rights upon job separation.

  • Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) Violations: Representing employees whose rights under FMLA (e.g., job protection during medical leave) have been violated.

  • Contract Disputes: Reviewing and litigating breaches of employment contracts, non-compete agreements, and other contractual issues.

The firm's dedication would be to guide employees through these challenging legal processes with expertise and a strong commitment to achieving justice.

While one review highlights a negative experience regarding a free consultation, the overall positive feedback for Joseph & Kirschenbaum LLP emphasizes several key features and highlights that characterize their approach to employment law:

  • Fights for the Underdog: A recurring theme in positive feedback is the firm's commitment to fighting for employees who feel disadvantaged against powerful employers. This client-centric philosophy resonates with individuals seeking justice against larger entities.

  • Gets Results: The firm is explicitly praised for "getting results," particularly in challenging situations like wrongful termination. This indicates a strong track record of securing favorable outcomes for clients, whether through settlement, negotiation, or litigation.

  • Excellent Attorneys: Specific attorneys, like Maimon and Leah, are highlighted as "Excellent attorneys," suggesting a team of highly competent and skilled legal professionals within the firm who are effective in their advocacy.

  • Dedicated and Supportive: One client refers to the firm as the "only bright light" during a difficult period, implying a supportive and reassuring presence that helps clients navigate stressful legal battles with confidence.

  • Team-Oriented Approach: The phrase "Much thanks to the team at Joseph & Kirschenbaum" suggests a collaborative effort within the firm, ensuring comprehensive support and diverse perspectives on client cases.

These features collectively paint a picture of a firm that combines legal expertise with a compassionate and determined approach to employee rights.

Like most professional legal services in New York, Joseph & Kirschenbaum LLP typically does not advertise specific "promotions or special offers" in the retail sense. However, it is a common and often invaluable practice for employment law firms to offer initial consultations.

An initial consultation serves as a crucial first step for any individual who believes their employee rights have been violated. During this meeting, prospective clients have the opportunity to discuss the details of their workplace situation directly with an attorney from Joseph & Kirschenbaum LLP. This allows the legal team to assess the viability of the case, explain potential legal options under New York and federal employment laws, and provide preliminary advice. For individuals who may be experiencing distress due to their employment issues, this initial discussion is vital. While one review mentions a "free consultation" that was perceived as unhelpful due to lack of specific feedback, it is standard for firms to use these initial calls to determine if a case fits their scope or has a strong legal basis. This allows the firm to manage their resources effectively and provide the best possible service to cases they do take on. It is always recommended to contact Joseph & Kirschenbaum LLP directly via the provided phone numbers to inquire about their specific policy regarding initial consultations, any associated fees, and to schedule an appointment. This direct communication will provide clarity and help you make an informed decision about your legal representation.

Refused to take my case and offered no reason. The “free consultation” was a literal waste of time. If only I had been informed of why the case wasn’t taken, I would have gained at least something. Instead I’m left believing that someone at the firm knows my former employer and might share that I made the call. I’m glad that this fellow has helped others out but he only potentially made my situation worse for me.

Can’t thank this Company enough. Was going through a rough part of my life and they took my case. Lucas Buzzard was such a help and gave me such support in my situation. Maimon Kirschenbaum also helped and assisted me. Am so grateful I was able to find them. Would definitely recommend them to anybody.
